Ok this story is the most adorable thing ever written!!! I love the idea of the baby journal and all of Jim's entries....perhaps somewhere down the line we'll see a reverse scenario and have Pam writing and Jim illustrating (then Pam making fun of Jim's attempts)
Can't wait to read more soon!

This is just really good. Jim's letters to Jill are sweet and heartfelt and funny, and just lovely.

I probably should just let you know that I've been following this story for a long time. I just could never pluck up the courage to review. Anyway, this has to be story on this site. I loved the last chapter. And the letter about the almost break-in, I would love to see that scene in a future chapter. Awesome work!

Oh, that was so effing cute. Your Jim voice comes out so perfectly through his written word as well. I could imagine these being the kinds of things he'd want to share with Jill. And that last one - scary! Aw.
I've been meaning to set aside a good chunk of time for myself to go back and reread this whole story from the beginning, and all your related stories, because they always make me smile :)

That was such a cool chapter! And so believable! Another amazing chapter! And i loved the end: "That's why he's on the list." Really awesome.

I'm actually jealous of Jill a little bit...wow.....just a fantastic chapter. Absolutely amazing.
Author's Response: Thanks Cate the Great! I'm jealous of Jill too! Could you imagine Jim as your daddy?...oh wait...not sure I want him to be my daddy...OTHER, less blood related members of the family yes...but...hehehe. Anyway I'm going off on a tangent. Thanks so much for responding!

You know, I think this is my favorite chapter!! I love how the 'Jim' sense of humor comes through. Sigh.
Author's Response: Man, I'm so happy everyone is responding so well to this idea. I'll credit Jenna Fischer's parents for the idea! (See O Magazine). I was worried because I usually do dialogue and not inner monologue, but seems like Jim just being Jim (talking or not) is a hit!

"At the park the other day this boy baby was checking you out. I almost pushed him out of his stroller.
That's probably not a good sign."
Hahaha! That was amazing.
Author's Response: ROFL! Glad you liked it! Poor little boy though...lol

Another fantastic installment! I LOVE daddy!Jim, and the bobblehead thing... gah. I was cracking up! Especially the later amendment to that. I may have said it before, but I love love love your version of parenting!JAM. Seriously. An installment of Baby Talk always makes my day!
Author's Response: Hi McMuffins! Thanks for being such a loyal responder. You rock! You make MY day!

I am just amazed by how effectively you capture Jim's sweetness without losing his sarcastic and snarky side. You are SO GOOD at creating Pam and Jim's voices. It makes what you write so much more than just well-written fluff - it makes it feel true to the show.
Author's Response: Oh man thank you. Jim Halpert is a man of many layers! Happy just to tap into a few during these little snippets of his life. Thanks so much for reading!

I haven't read the earlier chapters of this story, but saw the link to this one on TWoP...so glad I did, because this is the best Daddy!Jim story I've ever read! I will be checking out this rest of this funness when grad school allows :)
Author's Response: yay!!! So glad you found it and big thanks to whoever recc'd it on TWoP! Let me know what you think once you're free to read more!

Amazing. You have an incredible talent for making something mind bendingly sweet but not contrived or saccharine. And, as a dad myself, I endorse your take on the kinds of things Jim would write. Like many, I get a big smile when I see this has been updated.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I just love hearing what parents think of this story. I want to be careful not to romanticize things too much, but also still have it be the amount of fluff I need to get by these days! Thanks so much for your comments!

Dear LoveFool,
I don't know how you do it, but I love this series more and more with each installment. I really can't select a favorite letter because they're all delicious - but come on, her progressive daddy and Good times here at Casa del Halpert? And all the ways he tells her he loves her? Not to sound like the world's biggest sap, but you can so feel the love in these letters. The voice sounds like the secret, gooey at the center, sweet essence of Jim - like we're privy to his most intimate feelings...and yet it sounds exactly like I imagine Jim would and is SO funny. You have done it again, that's all I can say.
Love you more than all the other baby fic writers,
Colette
Author's Response: eeeek!!! Colette loves me more than all the other baby fic writers! THAT is all I needed to hear. I love your comments so much - especially the "gooey at the center sweet essence of Jim" part. I feel like in the show (at least during season 2) we were always getting these glimpses into that secret vulnerable part of him...the look in his eyes when he looked at Pam, when he finally told her how he felt...I just imagine when given the opportunity him writing to someone he loves (without the need for censor) would just be AMAZING. I always wonder what that freaking Christmas card said!

SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS CHAPTER. And the story as a whole - of course.
Really fantastic.
PS - I hope the cops catch that creep. How dare he!!!
Author's Response: lol. My roommate wanted to know exactly who it was! I'm not entirely sure I've got an actual game plan with that one (pulling a G.Daniels) but since some of these entries were based on things that had already happened in the story, perhaps I'll write a full account of that night at some point. Thanks so much for the response xoxoxo!

HOW do you keep making them better? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! the letters from Daddy!Jim. So much it makes me hurt a little. GAH. I want a Jim Halpert.
Author's Response: Ugh...so much you hurt. THAT is a GREAT compliment. I LOVE when writers give me that feeling! I'm honored!

Okay, UNBELIEVABLY sweet. So totally Jim. I love when he swears because it's "artistically necessary." Ha!
So, SO sweet. This is fabulous.
Author's Response: Haha! Thanks so much!!! Enjoy!

Aww. I love Dwight in this! He's so...well, so Dwight.
By the way, I've been reading this story and shamelessly not leaving reviews, because I was going to just wait until the end, but I have to say you've written Jim and Pam as such a normal, believable--yet completely sweet and funny and romantic--couple in this story, that I'm absolutely hooked. Great job. Really wonderful.
Author's Response: Yay!!! Glad I have a reader i didn't realize I had! haha. Thanks so much for responding! I try and write each installment so that it could potentially stand-alone and not need to be read as part of the series, so don't be shy about responding before it's done! Glad you're hooked now! ;-) Thanks so much for the feedback!

This was by far my favorite chapter, seeing Jim refer to himself as daddy makes my ovaries jump for joy
Author's Response: hahaha! And your uterus skip a beat? ;-) Thanks for responding! I love it!

In no way would I object to you continuing this fic... forever. Seriously. After this last chapter, I (as well as others, I presume) will simply not allow you to stop. Writing to Jill is such a great idea, I would love to see more of it, maybe when Jill starts dating. :P
Author's Response: haha. Well since Jim will continue this journal for many years to come I'm guessing that that can be arranged if I continue writing this story. Thanks so much for wanting it to continue! That's so awesome to hear those words of encouragement. I'll see what I can do! ;-)

This is so, so cute- but what I love the most is how in character you keep Jim. I can literally see him saying or writing all of these things. Great mix of fluffy cuteness and humor.
Author's Response: Thanks!!! He's so freaking funny, that trying to make things a bit poignant at the same time and have him also be very sincere is such a fun balance to try and achieve. Happy to hear that for you that was accomplished!

My mom kept a baby journal for me and let me read it when I was older. Reading this brought back memories of that journal and I love the idea of Jim and Pam being the kind of parents that would do that. And the entries were just perfection. This whole story is perfection and needs to be updated again quickly :) Wonderful work, as always.
Author's Response: Thank so much for responding Wendy Blue. You know, I was reading an article by Jenna Fischer in O Magazine where she talked about her parents doing the same thing for her - that's how this chapter was inspired. I'm so happy to hear that this is something that parents actually do! I think that's so awesome. What a beautiful gesture.

Can I just tell you how excited I get whenever I see this fic has been updated? Seriously, I jump up and down and make sounds like a little girl.
And this did not disappoint. I love all of Jim's letters to Jill. You've done such an amazing job at not only capturing Jim's voice but just the overall joys and fears of being a parent. Awesome.
Author's Response: Aw, thank you so much for all your kind words. There are fics that make me smile every time they are updated, so to know that my fic has that effect on others is one of the greatest compliments I could get. Thank you so much!

Ahhh...I really really needed this. You knew that, didn't you? In fact I think you wait until many of us JAM fans are at our lowest and then you post a little piece of perfection to make us smile. It worked! Good job.
I actually laughed out loud at these and they make me smile - as a parent so much of it rings so true. I also love how you keep the humor in this but still make it so sweet and real. I really love this series and your writing in general!
Author's Response: Somehow my timing ends up working out that way doesn't it? Perhaps because I'M at my lowest point too and really need the distraction that writing offers. I'm so glad I was able to put others out of their misery as well! AND happy to hear that this story rings true with parents. Thanks SO much for responding.

AWWWW!!!!!! You had me in giggles and near tears during the same chapter! *grins* I loved it!
Author's Response: Oooh that's how I like it! Tears AND Giggles! That makes me happy! Thanks for responding!

I love this series more every time you post a new entry!! May I humbly request a wedding fic for the pre-baby series of stories? You're so good at these (deliberate kiss-up) :)
Author's Response: Aw, thank you! Just so you know there are pre-baby chapters of this story. All of my stories kind of fall under the same AU universe (except for Party Fouls) everything else is the same Jim and Pam, same story. So if it's not part of Baby Talk, it's PRE-babytalk. I haven't tackled their wedding yet though. For some reason that's been particularly challenging for me to write. But at some point I'm gonna give it a try I think. Hope you enjoy the rest!
