I love these little moments in the beginning of Pam suggesting to Jim that she, too, is mildly obsessed with their relationship - something like her own version of the teapot. I think Jim needed to know this was as important to her as it was to him.

And kudos to Pam for putting a brave face on and not letting the charade go on any longer. And doing so in such an adorable way!

Author's Response:

I am fond of this one, I have to admit. (Except the formatting/line spacing is a little wonky!)

I agree, I think that it would have been important for Jim to realize that she'd been treasuring up those moments as much as he had (which I think you can see on her face in all of those scenes in season 1 and season 2). And this was one in a series of pieces when I tried to rush Fancy New Beesly into saying something (notice I'd dispatched with Karen off-screen).  We were just dying for them to get together, already!

Thank you for making me smile on a Monday morning!

“I do. I love marshmallows. I didn’t know how much until I couldn’t have them, but seeing someone else with all of the marshmallows was killing me. How could I make cocoa or s’mores?”

GUH! *swoons*

Author's Response:

Someone revive FlonkertonChamp! :)  Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it!

Oh major cuteness here! A sugary sweet piece of fluff, just the way I like them!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I wrote this a long time ago- it's so fun to see it again and realize how far we've come!

Okay, honestly, I wanted to read this one because I have a weakness for smores. I'm addicted.

Like that entire first paragraph, so decisptive, its like awesome. Just fyi.

bean and ham soup? That seems really weird. Just FYI

" I need to know if you really still have feelings for me because I love you.” "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, I have to read this (almost typed you had to write this) right after I finish up all my smores supplies!!! I want smores. Oh well. I do have leftover m..arshmellows. Haha

Author's Response: Oh, I love bean and ham soup. That's an example of giving Pam my own qualities just because I want to be cool like her. I hope you can re-stock your s'mores supplies soon. ;)

Very sweet!  (No pun intended.)  My favorite little line is:

I do. I love marshmallows. I didn’t know how much until I couldn’t have them, but seeing someone else with all of the marshmallows was killing me.

Nice little vignette.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Sorry I didn't reply to your comment sooner- my notifications aren't working, and this is a little bit older. That makes is doubly exciting that you found and liked it!

Oh my god - oh my freaking god.  This was absolutely adorable.  Warm as the hot chocolate they're drinking.  (See what you've done to me?  I'm all sugary and sappy, even in my review!)

In all seriousness, I really love this.  And this:

She had talked non-stop in her car on the way here, her eyes carefully on the snowy roads. Her words were about Michael and Dwight and laundry and fabric softener (she remembered that?), and his silence and his laughter were about patience and suffering and anticipation and hope.

Wow.  So true, so heartbreaking.

This was nothing but pure sweetness, and I loved every word of it!

Author's Response: Oooh, thank you! I had fun with this one...and now our happy couple can be together for realsies! Wooo!

Oh Lis.  So cute.  I love what you've done here with the teasing and the admitting and I just...LOVE.

Author's Response: Thank you! It was a fun one to write.

Lis, there are no other words for this but sweet, sweet, and sweet. Misplaced my thesaurus! No, seriously, you nailed this moment and it felt so real and so them. Lovely!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I want them to have sweet moments, and SOON. :)

You know what the hallmark of a good fanfic is?  When you find yourself thinking about it DAYS after you read it.  Once.  In a hurry because you were supposed to be working.

The shift at the end from talking about scary things like "love" to loving marshmallows was absolutely dead-on classic Jam.  They would *totally* do it.  So much so that i expect at some point I will completely steal that method (inserting something else for marshmallows!), and because it's so THEM it won't even be like I meant to plagarise you - it will just happen.  ;-)

This is why you were one of the first authors I ever put in my favourites file!!  Well done, as usual. :-)

Author's Response: You're making me blush (seriously). Thank you so much for taking the time to come back and comment. I agree that the change from serious to joking seems likely- it's what they did in "Back from Vacation," after all. And the joy when they finally get it all straightened out-  how could they not joke and tease and laugh? Soon, right?  Thanks again.

Aww.  All the fluffy and puffy imagery of coats and marshmallows and snow work so well in a happy piece of JAM fluff!

The "she remembered that" repetition was also a nice bit of table-turning.  See, I told you it was gonna be genius!

Author's Response:

You're too good to me, honestly. I was definitely in a fluffy mood. Thank you!

What a deliciously perfect moment. It makes me so ridiculously happy when Pam SAYS something...why, oh why can't she do it on the show? Never been a big marshmallow fan, but stories like this are making me re-think all that! Thanks for this lovely winter fantasy.

Author's Response: I still trust the writers- I think when Pam makes her move, it'll be perfect (wasn't Casino Night perfect?). But, yeah,  the waiting is killing me, so I make stuff up like this! Thank you for the sweet comment.

Really cute story! Love that she confesses all in one breath, like his free fall.

Author's Response: Thank you! I think it is going to be a big deal for our Pam to finally get the words out, but I hope she does it soon!

Great imagery:

He knew the feeling- it was what he’d felt when he’d confessed his feelings - as though he had thrown himself out of an airplane when he opened his mouth and the words were his freefall. Her eyes held his, and he knew she was waiting to see if the chute would open.

Thanks for another delicious marshmallowy fic!

Author's Response: Thank you! I wasn't sure if it fit the tone of this piece, so I almost removed that whole section. I liked it, though, so it stayed. Thanks for the validation! :)  "Delicious" is a wonderful compliment.

What a heartwarming story!  So sweet and fluffy and awesome and it makes me all kinds of happy. And I loved this line - "I love marshmallows. I didn’t know how much until I couldn’t have them, but seeing someone else with all of the marshmallows was killing me."

Author's Response: Thank you! I do like to make people happy! I figured I'd made poor Pam be serious and brave already, so I could let her make the rest of her confession in a silly way. These two are just so much fun together.

Coca! Confessions! Puns! So cute! A good dose of fluff that is desperately needed in these Jam dry days. Terrific!

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I needed a bit of pun-filled fluff.

"...seeing someone else with all of the marshmallows was killing me" -- is it too much-much to say how sweet this is? Yeah, I thought so.

Author's Response:

After my cheesetastic entry here, I don't think anything could be too much. Ha!  Thank you.

This was the perfect fic for the cold winter day I am in today.  I am in great need to "The Conversation" to happen on the show, but in the meantime, I shall live vicariously through fic.  This was lovely.  “I had no idea you loved m…arshmallows.” Jim said softly, with the beginnings of a smile. Ha!  I love the teasing.

Author's Response: I love the teasing, too. I think their mutual joy when they finally figure this out is going to be wonderful to behold. Glad to help warm you up a bit (and thank you for the ribbon!!).

Awesome use of marshmallows in this!

THIS IS THE BEST CHALLENGE EVER.

After reading 69 cups of noodles's contribution to this, and loving it, and having read other things you've written, and loving them, I knew I was going to love this too.  And I do.  I really do.

It's amazing that you manage to incorporate some seriousness into this light story, as well:  Her words were about Michael and Dwight and laundry and fabric softener (she remembered that?), and his silence and his laughter were about patience and suffering and anticipation and hope.  I absolutely love this line (and the paragraph it comes with), not only because it's almost a run-on sentence and those are my new favorite things in the world, but also because it says so much in a really light kind of way.  You manage depth lightly.  That is quite a feat, my friend.

Also, your dialogue.  OH LORD.  So funny, and sweet, and realistic, and wonderful, and oh.  Oh, oh, oh.  "Please, sir, I want s'more...s."  I was seriously laughing my booty off.

Thank you so much for this!  I feel so light-hearted.

Author's Response:

Thank you so very much. I too love the run-on sentence. I've actually gotten constructive criticism about avoiding over-use, but I'm glad it worked here for you!

I'm always self-conscious about dialog, actually, so I am really touched by your comment. Thank you for taking the time to be so specific- you've made me feel light-hearted!
