This story has brought me out of MTT lurkdom!  This is a fascinating fanfic.  It makes me love and hate the Old Pam so much all at once I can hardly stand it.  You have done a phenomenal job of portraying her.  My favorite line is "the shell of resignation she calls happiness" (paraphrased).  Unreal.  You are awesome.  Can hardly wait for Ch 8!  Please keep writing!

Author's Response:

Oh really?  Wow, that's terrific!  I love her and hate her, too, as I'm writing her, believe me.  (And I'm also very much aware that if I were Pam...well, let's just say it'd have ended a looong time ago, hee.)

Thanks so much for the thoughtful review - will update soon!

girl7, you are seriously killing me! I know deep down that they won't be hooking up, but you totally throw in his happy trail and I get my hopes up. You are really evil, but I still love you. Great job!

I'll give you a million Schrute Bucks if you make this an AU fic and things steam up in the pool. ;-P

Author's Response:

Yes, the happy trail mention was below the belt, wasn't it.  ...I'm sorry for that hideous pun; I just couldn't help myself. [/Darryl]

And re: your million Schrute Bucks -- I'm working out an option that would earn me those very bucks -- just maybe not in THIS version -- may do like a bonus chapter or spin off series or something, just to satisfy the morally bankrupt, skeevy pervs among us....of which I am the biggest, hah hah!

Thanks for your review!

If I'm not dead before the completion of this story, I will consider it a miracle.

That is all.

That made me do a Michael snorty laugh!

No snarky comment this time.  Just wanted to let you know how great I think this chapter is.

Author's Response:

What?  Seriously?  Well you go off and you think about it, mister, and see if you can't find something good to say, okay?  (I'm kidding.)

Honestly -- wow, thanks a lot, really!

I'm completely loving this story. All sorts of angsty, just DO IT already tension!! How I miss it on the show - but you're substituting quite nicely for live action. :D Great stuff. Wondering if it's gonna be AU and end with them together or trail off to pick up with the show... Whichever, I'll be reading.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you're enjoying the angst and the tension; I, too, LOVE those elements on the show (and yeah, I miss them).

Re: your AU question -- Starry Dreamer (my beta) suggested I do a "spin-off" type thing, wherein this one ends as I initially intended it to (not AU), but pick it up and take it in an AU direction.  I have to admit that as much as I love the idea of writing this as I've originally planned (i.e. not AU), I'm also loving the thought of also writing sort of an alternate ending/spin off.  Still working that out in my head, though.  :o)

Thanks so much for reviewing!

First of all, I need to see Michael dancing with Meredith to an old Madonna song!

If this is truly what Jim went through before the documentary cameras arrived, I'm shocked it took so long for him to leave!  Wow.  This Pam is just so close to the unfortunate label "cocktease".

Author's Response:

Oh my god, belsum -- me, too.  We re-watched Booze Cruise the other night, and I was telling my husband that I could watch Michael dance in every episode, and it would not get boring.

And no kidding (about Jim not leaving sooner!).  I had intended originally to end this with the end of the trip, but I'm intrigued by extending it a chapter or two after that to sort of construct a plausible (well, semi-plausible, LOL) scenario of how they could go from here to where they are while the documentary is being filmed.

And oh yes, I do believe Pam is likely earning herself that dubious honor, LOL.

Thanks for reviewing!

Nothing like that middle of the night, you're the only people in the world awake feeling to promote...well, confessions and other things (wink, wink.) Champagne doesn't hurt either, no siree. Loving inquisitive, ballsy Pam...taking them out of their normal context really opens some doors doesn't it? Once. Yes indeed. (Oh, btw, may have a lil' something myself later....)

Author's Response:

Oh yes, my friend - you are definitely, definitely right.  I may join you in your lil' something later; I've got some writing to do tonight, and a little wine never hurts, no?  :O)

Alright, good chapter.  But please tell me that something is going to happen now.  I want to reach through my computer screen and slap Jim for how many opportunities he wasted.  I mean literally every other sentence is Pam saying something she regrets and Jim replying defensively and awkward.

I love your writing girl7 but please tell me that you will do something with the ending of this chapter.

Author's Response:

Yes, well, the saying things she regrets as well as Jim not being able to make his move when he (maybe?) should were definitely written that way on purpose; it's how I envision the two of them might be in that particular context.  YMMV, of course.

As for doing something with the end of the chapter -- wasn't sure whether you were suggesting I revise/change it or if you were expressing your desire to see the stalling/tension alleviated.  In any case, there's definite movement (putting it as generally as I can put it) in the next chapter.

Thanks for reviewing!

Is it wrong that when I saw the URL you provided had the words "hot tub" in it, I thought something else was going to happen? Haha. What you wrote is much better than my perverted mind. And also the resort is much nicer than I imagined it was! This was another totally amazing read. The sharing of childhood stories was just so them. And Jim chickening out multiple times...also very true to character. Hmm...I think the one person he's been in love with was that girl Ann Herbert. Speaking of which, Pam finding her last name funny is exactly the thing you'd find hilarious while drunk!

Author's Response:

OMG - I didn't realize that was in the URL!  (Talk about leading someone on....) And yes, that resort is probably so far out of DM's price range, but I was thinking that maybe trips like this one could be the reason the Scranton branch almost ends up closed, LOL.

I'm glad you thought it was true to character -- watched Booze Cruise the other day, and that totally made its way here (in terms of Jim's missed opportunities).  I'm also glad you found the drunken stuff realistic -- it's always hard to write drunk people (unless you're drunk yourself, I guess, LOL), but I thought that might be something she'd laugh at in that state.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Ahhh, the LOVE PINK pajamas.  Cute.  I can totally see Pam roaming the halls in them. LOL  And of course truth or dare.  Another cruel way to end the chapter.  I'm betting I know exactly who Jim's "once" is... ;-)

Author's Response: Yeah, I thought they'd be a better alternative to the sheath thing.  And if you're thinking Jim's "once" is Kevin (like you didn't already read it, LOL), then you're right on.   Oh shoot - have I said too much...?

I'm loving it too. You are really drawing out the tension big time.

There needs to be a great big happy ending in there, just because it pains me to think of Pam actually not being so oblivious at the time we meet her. It's sad to think she was quite this aware through all of season two and couldn't quite pull the trigger on moving on from Roy.

But, oh the angst! :)

Author's Response:

Yeah, I'm shamelessly drawing out the tension; I don't know why I have so much fun doing that, but here I am.  And re: Pam's awareness and the ensuing seasons -- that's something that I have gotten completely fixated on as I've been writing this, so I'm going to write an epilogue chapter that will (hopefully) make this somewhat plausible in the context of what we've seen on the show thus far.  It'll be a stretch, but I've got some ideas.

Oh my goodness gracious! This story is so super-fabulous that I really am having a hard time coming up with words to tell you how much I love it.

Maybe I should just share a story instead. Yesterday was a very, very long day for me. I drove across three states and two time zones for a total of 12 hours--all alone. By the time I made it home I was exhausted and completely stressed out about everything I still had to do before morning. But did I do any of that stuff? Heck no!  I mean, why do homework or unpack when you could be reading three new chapters of the latest girl7 goodness?

Anyway, sorry I didn't review the other chapters, but I loved them. And I can't wait to see where you take this story! Keep up the good work! ;)

Wonderful!! I'm going out on a limb & saying it's my favorite fic right now, possibly ever. Also, I live in the south & the heat is ON!! The fireplace is more for show, like curling up next to it with ice tea, a fan, and that leather-bound copy of your masterpiece. It's the "Princess Bride" of fanfics, which is the highest honor I can give it. :D
