My eyes are tearing up as I type this...bargaining born out of (barely aknowledge) desperation is sad, and I love how you used Jan here.

Author's Response:

Pam's an emotional mess.  As was I when I typed that.  The only one of the chapters I wrote here that made me tear up.  And YAY for matchmaker Jan. :)

Yeah Jan!  I agree that she's seemed to see the attraction between Jim and Pam and I like that it is her who is saying something.  Stir the pot, Jan!  (Stir the melting pot!)

Author's Response:

Thanks Boof!!  You know - I wasn't even thinking that she was so wise to them initally.  I just kept thinking - if there was anyone who could sort of control the situation Jim and Pam had put themselves in - in terms of the transfer - it'd be Jan.

And the rest...is history. :)

This story continues to be addictive...is there a support group for that? I've always kind of liked Jan, and this chapter helps me see why. If only. (BTW, I just FINALLY responded to your kind email.)

Author's Response:

Hee!  I don't know.  It seems every where I look for support I find enabling. ;)

LOL!  OK.  I'll reply to you more there. :)

Wow--I love Jan as a matchmaker.  I tend to think that the way she acts is more than half about keeping Michael in line.

Author's Response:

Oh definitely.  And I don't think she'd meddle if it wasn't so blatantly obvious.

And is so is...except to the person it should be the MOST obvious to.  Oh, Pam.  SIGH.

Goddddddd. Haha, sorry, that's the most coherent thing I could think of when I read this chapter. It made me want to cry, because I love how Jan has this insight into what's going on with Pam and Jim, and that she wants everyone to reach their full potential. I also love that they said the same things to each other (of COURSE they would!) Sometimes you do just want to shake Pam and tell her to WAKE UP! Brother. Wonderful job, as always.

Author's Response:

Aw pennylane - go ahead and cry.  I totally did - and I wrote the damn thing.

Pam's going to get her wake up call shortly.  I promise!! ;)

Love this chapter. Very good job of bringing out the "human" side of Jan. We're seeing a little of her true personality on the show, but it's fun to speculate on what her real personal style is. Loving it!

Author's Response:

I'm glad.  I can definitely relate to so much about what we've seen of Jan.  Not to turn this into a therapy session...but I've totally been there.

Well.  Not with anyone as asinine as Michael - but close.  LOL!

I suppose if I'm silently hissing, "Stupid Pam! GAH, woman!" then you've successfully reached your goal with a chapter titled Denial. Heh.

Author's Response: Oh definitely. The lines absolutely blur.  She denies her feelings, then she denies the two of them the convenience of being together, then they're both angry, then they try to avoid an inevitable fight.  Now she's making deals in her head with anyone who'll listen...while she's still denying herself the most simple of solutions.  Pam, Pam, PAM.  What are we going to do with you????  LOL!

I love this story so much. Because it breaks my heart in this wonderfully beautiful way and then it almost immediately puts it right back together in an equally beautiful way. This chapter especially killed me. I love the warm, caring side of Jan that, on the show, we only see for a few split seconds (both times have been with Jim and Pam). And I love the idea of her trying to push both of them in the right direction both professionally and otherwise. Now I'm just going to wait until you put up the next chapter so that my heart can be unbroken again. :)

Author's Response: This chapter killed me like no other.  Seriously.  I was sitting here bawling like a baby.  So bizarre - since I know for a fact (as well as does everyone else who's ever read something I've written) that it's going to end well.  Still - the inbetween is killing me.  Thanks so much for your review.  It really means alot to me.

Yay, Jan!  I can completely see her nudging Pam both professionally and personally. Good job!

Author's Response:

Yay indeed!!  I was a little hesitant to include Jan in the mix but the more I wrote, the more I liked the idea.   I'm glad you agree.

Sometimes I'm not sure who I feel worse for; Jim or Pam. It would be a terrible thing to have someone like him leave you. I really love that he said the same thing about her, and I like how wonderful Jan is. I've kind of loved her ever since she kissed Michael at the elevator on Valentine's.

Anyway, it's comforting to see the "after" chapters because I know that Pam's wised up. =] Don't keep your fans waiting too long.

PS; There's a typo at the end. ("tp the floor.")

Author's Response:

The way I thought about it was this - if there was anyone who had the power to keep Jim from transferring it would be Jan.  And I think she's very perceptive.  Lonely and desperate at times - but she'd surely pick up on something.

And I know...your heart just breaks for both of them doesn't it???

PS - Thanks so much for catching the typo.  I do alot of editing after I post.  I need to remember to do an extra spell check!
