I don't know whether to thank you or be completely disappointed that Jim is fictional - and you've made him so incredibly perfect.  I love it when you write something fluffy - but you've just more than proven yourself here.  Really fabulous LoveFool.  Thanks so much for this.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks Hugs! That's so nice of you to say!  I certainly haven't given up my beloved fluff...but it's certainly nice to do something different from time to time. Thanks again for the support!

omg I was basically crying the whole time. That conversation with Frank and Jim was just perfect. I love how you make something so serious and something that we'll probably never see on the show sound so realistic! It's amazing! It'd be pretty hard not to cry while you read this, were you crying when you wrote it? It was beautiful! It was all perfect.

Author's Response: hahaha...was I crying when I wrote it? You know the only time I came close was during Jim's letter. There was a moment when he talked to Pam about the "view" from where Frank was...in terms of his relationship to his family -- that he had all he wanted. A wife he loved, kids that adored him...for some reason that moment got to me.  I'm so glad this story effected you so deeply. Thanks so so much for the wonderful review.

Wow...I have tears in my eyes.  That was so wonderful!  I'm so glad that Jim got that uninterrupted time with Pam and even more so with Frank...truly beautiful, I don't even have the words...thank you so much for sharing this with us all!

Author's Response: Aw you're welcome. Thank you so much for reviewing! I loved writing that scene with Frank and Jim and just in general their interactions. My favorite relationship in the story by far...thanks a bunch!

Last night, I read the whole story from beginning to the 5th chapter and fell in love with it all over again.  Now, I've read this last chapter about ten times and I'm still getting choked up.  Jim and Pam's "moment" in the shower felt so right to me - just a moment of tenderness and intimacy and normalcy for them before the day began.  All the underlying emotions are so right.  I could feel the hush in the house during Frank's final hours.  Allison telling Jim that it was going to be his responsibility to take care of the family...just killed me.  I can hear those words in my mother's voice.  I have a feeling that Allison is going to be just fine, but Jim is going to be the best son-in-law she could ever hope for.  The "You wanna have a baby with me, Jim?" and "No" - made me laugh out loud!  Perfect note of humor in the middle of all the tension.  The plate of bacon...Frank laughing at Jim's question...Frank knowing what he was going to ask - it's all so right in the larger sense, but it's also so right for them.  And there's the thing, LoveFool.  You made this family real and I'm going to be thinking about them for a long time.

Author's Response: Oh Sweetpea you do so know how I love the detailed reviews! lol. Thank you so, so much. YOu saying that you felt the hush in the house is so so cool, because that's totally what I wanted to convey and wasn't sure that I had...so again - so wonderful to hear the detail. So happy this all felt so real to you. I do imagine Jim being just the best son-in-law. There's something about that dynamic that's really fascinating to me. Thanks again! You're an aweome beta and reviewer!

*SNIFF* So. Sweet. Really nice ending.

I love how you only really mentioned Frank's death in passing, because it seems to me (not that I've ever experienced this first hand) that when someone has been struggling with a disease for so long, it's becomes more about the the struggle and the acceptance of the situation then the outcome... you handled it beautifully in the story and finished with the same idea; Really beautiful :)

Author's Response: Thank you Ampay (love your screen name btw!). You know I really did feel like mentioning it more "in passing" was the best way to go. I really wanted this story to be more about the people living through it -- than the actual death. The way that people live through it and lean on one another and come out better on the other side sometimes for it.

Wow. This has just become a classic in my eyes.

Author's Response: Ok...I just got a little worked up over that comment. Wow...thank you.

Thud.  I am on the floor dead from how good this is.  And I'm glad I bought more kleenex.  How sweet that Jim got to ask Frank's permission to marry Pam.  And that Frank already knew what Jim was going to ask.  Sir.

And it is a little scary when someone dies and you have to 'move up' to be an adult.

Nice job on the non-fluff, LoveFool.

Author's Response: For a dead girl you leave a heck of a review! Lisahoo you're so awesome! Thanks again for reccing this on the board - so cool of you. I'm glad you gave the non-fluff a chance. :-)

There are no words to describe how I feel about this story. That scene between Jim and Frank was just about the best thing I've read in a long time. You wrote this perfectly. Great job.

Author's Response: Wow...thank you so much nbyevu. I don't know what to say about that.  I'm so glad you were able to enjoy it so much...and as I've said in other responses, Jim and Frank were my favorite dynamic to write about as well.

*wipes tears* this was absolutely beautiful. i'll never be able to listen to this song again without thinking of this story.. and i will cry buckets, and my friends will all think i've gone bonkers. but i love this story.

Author's Response: You know, there are certain songs that already have such a connection to Jim and Pam for me...but for some reason when I listened to this song it just felt so much a story to me.  I felt like it had to be elaborated on.  Anyway, thank you so much for this review Starshine. I'm glad you enjoy the song AND the story. :-)

Well then.  That was just fine.  One of my favorite chapters of any story, ever.  A few things...if they make a movie of this story, make sure they get John Mahoney to play Frank.  He'd be perfect, don't ya think?  I thought the first person thing was very effective; I think more people should use it in fanfic.  Things I especially loved...Frankie showing a little decency and Pam appreciating it...Frank being irascsible with his wife to the very end...Pam's "I'm thankful for you" (exactly what Jim needed to hear then).  Thanks so much for this.

Author's Response: Brokenloon! You're so great! I ABSOLUTELY think John Mahoney would be perfect! We can imagine him in our heads, right?  I really wanted things to come full circle in that Jim really did have an effect on these people whether he realized it or not. I think that's so often the case in life...and I think even though his time with Frankie was minimal, I'm sure he had more of an impact than he could have ever imagined. Frankie emerging as somewhat of a responsible, contributing, member of the family could also allow Pam to realize that she doesn't have to be the one to take care of everything. Thanks so very, very much for such a thoughtful review!

Author's Response: Aw, wow...I'm not even sure what to say, but thank you. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that with your dad - but I'm happy he's ok. So glad this story could make you feel grateful for your dad. :-)

Be proud of yourself - this was an amazing, awesome, great, wonderful story! I absolutely loved it. You are so good at writing realistic dialogue. I also loved the "do you want to have a baby with me?" "no" exchange. Those two are never good with words. Sometimes I get jealous of Jim and Pam (is that weird? lol) and this is one of those times. Sigh. But I truly enjoyed reading this!

Author's Response: If you're weird than so am I....you are not alone. lol. I often get jealous of a fictional couple as well. Thanks so much for such great compliments. Dialogue is my most favorite thing to write, so that means a lot! Thank you.
