I like this take... and in some ways this really feels like a healthier basis for the start of their relationship than the one we get. We see a Pam who has truly gotten a chance to explore herself and build a new life before leaping into a new relationship.

I love this a lot. I love how you let us think that it's just going to be one of those awkward conversations between friends who haven't talked in awhile because they left things off badly, and then that "I love you" comes out of nowhere and is still so perfect. Unexpected, yet exactly the right thing for her to say in that moment.

This is like a perfect little one shot - a simple, beautiful idea, exquisitely rendered. Especially loved when she blurts 'I love you' and his instant response is 'Really?' I could just hear his disbelief and joy. Lovely last line too - very visual and heartfelt and true to Pam.

(Btw, this kind of put me in the mood of a fic I once wrote, called Lost and Found, so maybe I'm biased, but this really struck a chord with me. ;-)

Okay, me again.  I just reread this and wanted to say how much I love the concluding sentence:  She makes it to his place in record time, and he's standing outside and it's starting to snow, and she likes the snow, likes how it lands and makes everything clean and fresh, and as her feet sprint across his frozen yard, she decides that this is her making something out of nothing.

It's poetry, really.

This is so sweet. Loved this:

"I love you," she blurts out, and she thinks of all the work she did over the past few months, and thinks about it slipping away.

And then being in such a rush she doesn't realize she has no idea where he lives until she's halfway to the car... yeah. Great job.

Author's Response: Aw thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

"I love you," she blurts out

I actually gasped when I got to this line. I love the Pam you portray here- growing and getting stronger and yet still exactly herself. I also loooved Jim's reply: "I don't think it could ever be too late".  Because she's the one for him and that's that. And she may not "belong" to him, but they belong to and with each other. This is lovely, lovely, lovely stuff, dense and yet still fluffy, like early winter snow.

Author's Response: Yay! I'm glad you liked it! I love Fancy New Beesly sooo much.

Yes, Ryan Adams is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Put some JAM on that, and it's practically heaven. :-)

Author's Response: LOVE Ryan Adams. Seriously. Saw him in concert in October and he was wonderful. I love me some Jim/Pam lovin' too.

Ha!  Can Jim say 'Yes!  any quicker?

P.S.  Go Pam, you Braveheart.

Author's Response: I think it's impossible for Jim to respond any faster. Haha, I totally have an image of Pam in full Scottish gear yelling about taking her freedom...awesome.

What a little gem this is.  I have so much affection for Pam, and I love it when the affection the author has for her comes through like it does here.  Also, the sort of sudden turn here really works.  The show conditions us to them getting in their own way, but Jim's "I'm proud of you" and Pam's "I love you" were very organic here, espcially since Pam had her stuff together.  Great stuff.

Author's Response: Thanks! I love Pam. I love Pam getting her act together. I'm glad you liked it!

OK, so I have this bad habit of checking in before bed which I have come to regret on more than one occasion.  I never know when I'm going to be blind-sided by a depressing story.  Not the stuff of sweet dreams, ya know?  I was torn when I saw this because I love your work BUT that little blip about "not belonging to Jim" made me nervous (die-hard JAMmer that I am).  So, thanks for throwing in the chicken-or-fish line at the beginning (that made me relax)  : )  Anyway, long story even longer...  I really enjoyed this.  It was like Season 3 condensed and without the Karen, which is fine by me.  Half the heartache, twice the fun!  Nice job, as always, bashert.

Author's Response: Oh, I do that too. I'm glad you liked it! I would have loved a Karen-less season three...

Gah. I loved this. Every word of it. I love the idea that Pam is an art teacher and that she actually does something with her post-Jim life than just pine away for him. And this:

She tells Toby to tell him hi for her, and she likes to think that she's that aloof, that she can casually tell him hello through a mutual friend and that it doesn't mean anything.

Awesome. Seriously. The idea of her trying, and failing, to be nochalant kills me dead. Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks! I love Art Teacher!Pam too! I'm glad you liked it!

**sigh** I love this. I love stories where Jim and Pam actually, you know - talk to one another and become up front with one another sooner than a whole year after casino night ;) Also, I love the idea of Pam as an art teacher. To me she is very well suited for that. Lovely, as always, bashert.

Author's Response: Yes, can you imagine if they would have just TALKED to one another? I love the idea of Pam as an art teacher too. I think she would be great with the art kids. I'm so glad you liked it!
