I love the last line of this. Great story:)

Author's Response:

Poor S3 Pam.  I saw her living just like this - obviously...

Thanks so much for the review. :)

Love it, love it, love it. Especially like how you've gone thru the weekdays and had Pam making changes to her lifestyle each day. Her Tuesdays almost make me wish I were single again (not quite!). Fridays sound great, too. Bold but still timid...you captured that perfectly.
In the first sentence there is a 'like' thrown in that I don't think is supposed to be there.
Awesome fic!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!  LOL!  I am single and I gotta tell you that her Tuesday isn't much fun truth be told.  I think it's all about perspective. :)

As for the 1st sentence - it does look awkward now that I look at it - but I intended the "like" to be there.  Explanation in parenthesis - On Monday nights she goes grocery shopping, because it's pretty quiet and there's little chance of running into Roy's mom like (she would) on Saturdays.

Oh gosh, I love this.  I can so see Pam living contentedly alone, happy enough by herself, but still just a little... without, and missing him.  Her finding the directions, printing out the directions, driving closer and closer every time is so great -- she's all for taking small steps, I think; grand gestures are a little too scary sometimes.  My favorite parts are when you wrote about her being happy and going about her week because that really just fit with me in terms of characterization, and my favorite line was probably the third to last, about everything that's changed and everything that hasn't.  Nice to way end this piece, as well.  Lovely job!  Thanks so much for this.

Author's Response:

Thanks allibabab!  I'm so glad you reviewed this because it caused me to read this again and it was nice to see that this is one story I wrote this season that still seems to ring completely true.  There's nothing here that I don't think Pam would have or has done.

Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me you liked it.  It means more than you know.

This was lovely.... it's probably exactly what Pam would do now that she's on her own, stuff we don't get to see on the show. Loved it!

Author's Response:

Thanks McGigi!   If Jenna says it IMO then it is so.  That's all the confirmation I need.

So glad you liked it!

Okay, I loved what Jenna said in the EW about Pam's new life and you managed to capture it so perfectly. I can really imagine her at the laundry mat and curling her hair and trying new clothes and just adjusting to it all.

Recently she’s been spending hers preparing for a date she’s not sure she’ll ever get to go on.

This line made me want to cry because wow, I've been there and it sucks. (Wait, did I just admit to having no life? Oh well, it's true.)

Wonderful job with Pam's character.

When she finally does, and her eyes meet his, she finds out.

I want to find out too!!! This damn show just kills me.

Author's Response:

I did too.  I'm so glad you thought I did it justice.

Obviously. [/jim]

I've been there myself so count me in as a no-lifer on occasion.

I can't wait to find out the real story.  Hopefully it ends up the way we all want it to.

Grrr.  It'd better. :x

Author's Response:

eta:  The "obviously" is supposed to come after the "I did too."  I don't "obviously" think you think I did it justice.

I shouldn't respond to reviews when I'm groggy. :)

I loved reading about Pam's reinvention of her habits as a single woman. It was tinged with just enough sadness and wistfulness to be wonderful. Her Friday night routine is particularly heartbreaking.

Is there any way you could tell me where to find where Jenna spoke the words that inspired this fic? I'd love to read what she has to say.

Author's Response:

Awww thanks Luna!!

There's an interview of Jenna in the latest Entertainment Weekly.  The quote that really got me was this one - as for what she imagines Pam's life is like now.

"I imagine she's curling her hair just to see how it would look, experimenting with makeup....and definitely daydreaming about Jim.  She's trying to figure out how she can make that happen, because he's definitely the one."

And there you have it.  A fanfic is born. :)

Ahh - the infamous one word review from Ms. Pixel.

Thank you.  I am honored. :)

You can't just leave it there.  That's evil

Author's Response: HA!  OK, OK.  Notice I took it out of the "oneshot" category and left it as incomplete.  Just give me a little time to process things (aka watch a few more episodes) and I promise I'll continue.

On Thursday nights like those as she slips into bed alone she wonders if she’ll ever know what it would really be like.

Wow, that brought back living alone, climbing into bed alone, and just not knowing if I was doing what I needed to be doing to be happy. Huh.

I like this, a lot, especially her fits and starts toward Connecticut.

And, again, love where you left it.

Author's Response:

Yes, Shan - welcome to my Thursday nights.  Except first I sit there for a half hour and wonder if Pam's doing what she needs to do to be happy.

I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track though - so that's something.  LOL!

Gotta tell you.  Leaving it is soooooooo soooooooo soooooooooooo difficult.  Remember - I once was the "Queen of the Happily Ever After Epilogue."

I still might backslide from time to time - but it seems I'm going through some sort of vague uncertainty phase at the moment. ;)

My heart is pounding so hard; you made me so nervous for, and with, Pam. The ending is just delicious. I would call it a cliffhanger, but I refuse to acknowledge that there could be any answer other than True Love in his eyes. This is truly outstanding!

Author's Response:

Breathe Lis.  It'll all be OK.  I have (almost) complete faith. :)

And I doubt there's any other answer myself.  In my mind - there never will be.

Thanks Semby!

This is so Pam.  Especially her Friday night activities, and how she just couldn't make herself drive all the way there.  It's so very in character.

Author's Response:

I'm glad you think so.  I'm so trying to understand why she is the way she is.

Thanks Lissa!

She finds out?  Finds out what?  AHHHH.  This was fantastic, this is exactly how I see Pam living her life post-Roy.  I love the fact that she's got her week planned out to do certain things every day.  I've never really lived on my own, either, so I imagine that if I ever had to, my life would kind of resemble this.  I'd have a "shopping day" and a "laundry day" and I'd probably take a writing class ... ah, Pam.  We love you!

I can't wait to see what really happens!!!

Author's Response:

She finds out.  For better - for (gah!) worse - for indifferent - she finally finds out.

I've lived alone for a while now and though I don't have a set schedule (I travel too much for that) I do delight when the washing machines are all free at the same time and in walking 10 blocks from my apartment to buy organic food products.

And don't think I didn't get myself some ham and cheese on my last shopping trip.

And now - alone - no guy in the vacinity to blame - I'm watching freaking football hoping to see that damn promo.

It's offical.  I've lost it. :)

Pam as a work in progress - being her own Pygmalion. I like it!

This plays perfectly off the JF quote - and I so hope she's at least partially expressing the show's party line on the situation (those network publicists can be very influential, trust me. Which gives me great hope when I read an interview like the EW one.) If not, those writers better read your story stat!

Author's Response:

It made me so happy to read that - because it's what I've been craving since September.

"How could she not love him?"  I screamed to the TV.  "WE all love him...from afar and here she is - she's got him RIGHT THERE in front of her."

And then I realize I might be a little too into a television show.

So um...anyway.  Yeah.  Good article. ;)

Instead of blame, I'd like to thank Jenna for inspiring this.  So beautiful.  Wonderful work.

Author's Response:

I only said blame because it was giving me fits this morning.  I actually have another whole variation on the same theme.

But yes.  Jenna is to thank.  And I thank you for your sweet review.  I'm so glad you liked it.

I think you've managed to capture Pam really well here. I get so frustrated when people say that they're bored with Pam or that she has no personality. I love that she's taking time to figure out who she is alone before jumping into something with Jim. All the little changes are hard, but I love that she's doing them. This line made me sigh a little:

She’s sure now all she’s ever wanted is him.

Okay, a lot. And I also like that you've left it open-ended (for now?) because, like the show, it leaves it open to our interpretation. Sorry for this long-winded review, but you've done a great job with this!

Author's Response:

I was frustrated myself because deep down I knew he was the reason she'd called off the wedding - but her actions didn't seem to mimick that idea in the least.

Knowing what Jenna envisions as to what's going on in Pam's mind might not make it easier to watch - but certainly easier to understand.

And I'm sighing right there with you.  You are right.  It's open ended....

...for now.

Ah! so good! are you going to write more? please do.

I will write more....eventually.  I just can't seem to help myself where these two are concerned.

Thanks Rebecca!

That was wonderful! It turned my stomach all around for Pam, making her little changes and being so nervous. Gah, you captured it perfectly! I'm a little bit speechless, lovely job!

Author's Response:

Stomach twisting and speechlessness.  I'm guessing those things are good?  LOL!

Thanks GreenEyes!

She finds out that he still loves her, too - right?  I mean, that is what you intended her to find out, right?  It has to be a happy ending, right?  (Loved this story.)

Author's Response:

The romantic in me certainly believes so.  The realist isn't quite as sure.

Let's hope in "reality" it's the perfect compromise between the two.

And if not - I'll make it happen here. :)

So very good!  I love how you fleshed out Jenna's commention, but please do continue!

Author's Response: Hi Jonah5!  I wasn't going to but I will.  I hope you can be patient though - 'cause just like on the show I suspect it's going to take a while.  :(

hugsand kisses, that was lovely. Lovely and haunting and made my chest ache. And is it okay that I really want to know what comes next?

Author's Response:

Thanks Par5.  It's OK.  I do too.  And though I intended to finish it there I'm going to keep it open ended.

Although I will say that in my mind she finds out exactly what we want her to find out.  :)

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself - so more will come - but hate to break it to you - it's not going to come quickly.
