Wow. This was charming and as sweet as  - well, strawberry chapstick! Although I do still have a certain fondness for Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers! Very nice.

Author's Response: Thank You!  I'll admit, I lived on Dr.Pepper Lip Smackers for most of my middle school years...but Strawberry Chapstick is special in that you can never find the bloody stuff.  :)

I love this. The story of Jim loving a girl in fifth grade and loving her strawberry chapstick is already adorable and smile-worthy, but the rest of the story? Love it. I especially love how you took a simple, ordinary, tiny taste, and made an entire story grow from that.

Great job!!

Author's Response: Thank you!  I love how in reality, the ordinary tastes and smells and all that are the things we remember.  :)

This is such a nice story!  I think it is great you took a taste and built a whole story around it.  Lovely! :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

I love stories that take a little item like lipgloss and make it mean so much.  Well done!

Author's Response: Thank you!  I shall never look at my Strawberry Chapstick the same way again. :)

I love this hopeful fic, and I love fifth-grade Jim.  (As though there is a Jim I don't love.  Pshaw!)

Well done!

Author's Response: Thank you!  I love fifth-grade Jim as well...I like to think of Jim as a.....serial unrequited lover.  Which is sad, but cute.

Ah, story love!  I hate the feeling of chapped lips, this was quite "painful" in a real sense.  I kept wanting to lick my lips and see if they were chapped when I was reading this.  Nice sensory detail.  I also love hopeful Pam.  I think it's very true, I think she will get up early on the day he comes in and will wait for him ... *sigh*

Nice job.  Thanks for posting!

Author's Response:

I HATE chapped lips, and I actually had them whilst writing this, so that is why I included so much detail - I was suffering. :)  Hopeful Pam is my favorite - I hope that we can see her sitting there alone, waiting for him to come in on that first day...*double sigh*

Thanks for the review!

Jim in unrequited love in fifth grade - perfect. Great dialogue. And, I like how you ended it with Pam's anticipation, instead of the 'pay-off'. Hits a lovely note with a light touch.

Author's Response: Thanks!  I'd like to believe that the rest of the day went the way Pam wanted it to - ha, we'll see just how wrong I am in a week. :)

So cute!  Best one I've read in a while.  And, yes, Oregon Trail is perfect.

Author's Response: Thanks so much!  Oregon Trail IS perfect. I think that the Scranton Branch should take a page from the Stamford one and start playing Oregon Trail all the time - team building exercise and all that.

I really enjoyed this! Jim's fifth-grade love story was just funny enough to be real, and I love what the lipgloss represented.

Author's Response: Thank you!  Sometimes I feel like Jim and Pam have that whole awkward 5th grade love thing happening, and I tried to mirror that.  :)

Too adorable for words! My favorie lines:

"I sat next to Tiffany in computer class.  You know, whenever we played Oregon Trail, I would name my wife Tiffany."

"Well, that IS love.  Creepy, Oregon Trail love.  Did she die of a snakebite?"

 Beautiful.

Author's Response: Thanks - you know that naming your spouse on OT after your crush in elementary school is the ultimate symbol of true love. :)
