A) I think 'hear' is supposed to be 'heart', right about in the middle.

B) Marry me? I'll make you babies or cookies or something. This is <3.

c) I was thinking... Maids milking = Dwight? He does have a farm. Maybe Mose went out and traded some magic hobbit beans for a cow. And it needs to be milked. I dunno. I'm "assissting" I'm Assisstant (to the) Writer!

Okay, I'm full of it. But I loved this chapter - I love how she tells him about the fact that she knows - that's one of the things about what's presently going on that's got me in knots. She knows. I love their entire exchange and I love this fic and *more please?*

Author's Response:

a) Yep! Heart indeed.  Merci beaucoup!

b) hee!hee!  I'm partial to chocolate chip - so feel free!

c) I finally got a handle on the maids a milking.  Stay tuned!

Of course she knows - and Jim should know that she knows.

More coming up!

FNB!  Way to go!  "I know you."  Paving the way for some "partridge in a pear tree", whatever that means!

Author's Response: LOL!  Yes.  Here's a start to them not pretending everything's A-OK.  Hoepfully it'll work out in the end. ;)

I can tell this story will be an amazing read. And seasonally appropriate at that! Love how you're able to combine Jim/Pam banter, Jim/Karen awkwardness, DM crazies and a Christmas song.

Author's Response: Hee!  I'm a sucker for a sweet sappy Christmas story.  I hope this one is more sweet than sappy in the end - but we shall see!

I liked that "discussion" between Roy and Jim.  Roy would certainly think Jim would be a good source of info, and I don't think Jim would really explain what happened.  I really enjoy this series.  You've found very creative ways to tie in the song.

Author's Response:

Thanks Gen!  I'm glad to hear you think I've got it right.  And re: the song...some of them came easily...some...not so much. ;)

I like the interaction of all three characters in this chapter.  Nothing seems contrived or forced. I'm also a fan of any brainstorming about Dwight & his recorder.

Author's Response:

Thanks Ami17han!  I'm so glad to hear it.

And c'mon...who isn't. ;)

Oh boys. This was a really great Roy/Jim conversation, and I like how you interspersed Jim's thoughts: Ugh. So close. Hee! And I really am surprised at how well this song works in this context. Who knew? Now I'm going to need you try and connect "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" to the Office somehow ;)

Author's Response:

Oh pennylane.  Talk to me when I'm up to Geese a Laying.  LOL!  Then again...as many have mentioned...it could be a smut goldmine. :)

Don't know if I'm quite up to the "Two Front Teeth" challenge.  But I have to say you made me LOL!

Interesting conversation between the two.  I can't wait for the them to meet up on the show.  I don't think it will be that  nice.

Author's Response: Hee.  Me either.  It'll be just awkward.  But Roy has mentioned that he knows Pam confides in Jim - or at least - did - so I don't see it beyond the realm of possibility.

...Wow. First off, I'm amazed at how fantastic the story telling is. This strange hesitant-yet-they-totally-love-one-another thing is amazing and if I give you shinies will you write faster?

Second, I just have to tell you how fantasticaly you've applied the song. I never would have thought basketball=Lords Leaping but I love it and it's wonderful and I can't wait for the next one - isn't it 9 Ladies Dancing or some such nonsense? *is excited*

Author's Response:

I work for shinies...so sure. :)  I'll see what I can do.

Nine is in fact Ladies Dancing.  It's my last real easy one to envision.  Somehow it's going to be hard to incorporate "Maids a Milking" but I'm giving it my best shot.

I'm so very glad you're enjoying the ride.    I'm always interested to hear what specifically people like/dislike about the story.  Thanks so much for the review!

oh man....that was GOOD. That's one of the best Jim/Roy conversations I've ever read! You had them feel something akin to one another, but not so much that it became this maudlin thing. "I told Pam I loved her and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" had me laughing for a good long time!

Author's Response:

Thanks LoveFool!   I was iffy on how much talking Roy would actually initiate and I'm so glad it rang true for you.

The t-shirt thing was meant to be a moment of humor - and I'm so glad it came across!  Thanks for the review!

And as he starts his car and heads for home he realizes that worst of all, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.

Well, that's because he's driving in the wrong direction..."home" is Pam. Dumb boys. Poor Roy. I like sympathetic Roy stories, you know. I love this so much.

Author's Response:

Hee!  Dumb boys indeed.

I just keep thinking if Roy was all bad - then Pam was a moron for even seeing something in him in the first place.  He's just not the one for her.

SIGH.   Thanks so much for the review as always!  More to come...

First, how clever to make the leaping lords basketball players. And thanks for the lovely memory of Jim playing (truly one of my favorite JH moments...love me a boy who knows how to handle a basketball!)

This is a scene that needs to happen in some form, sometime, downer or not. I told Pam I loved her and all I got was this lousy t-shirt...that line is priceless and funny, but also captures the bitter irony I think seasons Jim's heartbreak.

Speaking of heartache, feeling a bit nauseous anticipating the Xmas show...spoilers too tempting for my flimsy willpower. Well, The Convict was a happy surprise, so maybe this will be too. I digress. Still loving this series - so happy to pop in and see this update...at least I know you'll take us somewhere happy by the end.

Author's Response:

Some of these corallations came easy as pie. Maids a milking and geese a laying are giving me fits though I'll tell you.  Heehee!

Basketball is one of my favorite episodes. I simply couldn't resist.

Aww.  Huggy hugs colette.  I'm not expecting a lingering kiss under the mistletoe but I really can't imagine they'd be so Scrooge-y on Christmas.   (Although I was watching ER last night and the final moments were most of the characters smooching - so I wouldn't complain if GD&Co. want to rip off that idea.  Just as long as the person Jim's kissing is Pam.)

And yes.  The ending will be happy here.   That you can count on. :)

Author's Response: or make that correlations.  I hate it when I do that. Grr!

I know you warned us this one was a downer, but somehow I really didn't take it that way.  It was actually a relief to have Roy & Jim talk, even though it just made Jim more confused, it seems like a step forward somehow.  And I really like the callback to "Basketball" and I think that the dialog (both spoken & unspoken) are very in-character, BTW.

Author's Response:

Thanks lisahoo.   I'm happy to hear it.  It's just that last chapter was so light at the end - and I felt like this one was pretty bleak throughout.

I don't have any real hope we'll see Jim and Roy have a heart to heart - but hey - any excuse to imagine the two of them running around the court in shorts works for me.

Thanks for your feedback.  I truly appreciate it!

Oh my God.  I...just...love this.  The dialogue is perfect, Pam and Jim getting frustrated over Karen "not getting it", the and the fact that they are settling back into their old rapport for now.  I can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

Thanks 69CoN!  I'm glad you like it.

Next chapter coming up soon!

This is beautiful, and captures it exactly. Pam gets Jim (and eventually, please God please, she will "get" Jim). Karen is great, but she's not Pam, and Pam completes Jim and that's all there is to it. I CANNOT WAIT for the rest of the days!

Author's Response:

Aww.  Thanks lis!  I wholeheartedly agree (obviously!)

I'm almost done w/Ten so you won't have to wait too long.  I gotta warn you - it's a little more angsty - but I think it also moves things forward a bit.

At least that's my intention. :)

Xoxoxo...do you realize what you've done? You have just succinctly summed up the entire "new person" dynamic in one chapter! Karen or no Karen...that is totally what's it's like when that third person joins in a really tight twosome. You've already got the jokes going - everybody gets it...and then somebody - even though they try - just doesn't quite flow the same way the other two are......GREAT WORK capturing that!

Then of course there was the IMing about tracks...that was awesome!

Author's Response:

Well that was my intention - so I'm soooo glad it came across for you!!  It's not that Karen doesn't have a sense of humor - or that there nothing Jim would see in her - she's simply just not there - not like Pam is.

And if I have my way she never will be....(cue evil laugh LOL!)

::sigh:: I loved the moment when they were both talking about things that were "new"....when he acknowledges her ponytail...ugh. Keep it coming!

Author's Response:

Sigh indeed Lovefool.  All I keep thinking of is the moment in The Merger when he says the place looks great but is looking her up and down as he says it.

He totally notices...even if he pretends he's not noticing a thing.

Wow, that was awesome Hugs and Kisses. I would love it if they bilt it back up, exactly like that... Can't wait to read the rest.

Author's Response: Thanks Clare!  I would too  - which is - you know - why I'm writing it. :)

Ok, uh, Dwight as the piper? YES! You win a gold yogurt lid medal. And I honestly just love the interactions you write for Jim and Pam-their conversations always sound (in my head?) like something we'd see on the show. What is 10? Lords a leapin? I can't wait to see what that brings!

Author's Response:

But of course.  I'm so glad that you can hear the conversations in your head and that they sound like the show for you.  That's the greatest compliment you could give.

Yep.  10: Lords a Leaping.  And it's shaping up to be a doozy. :)

Iceland might just be the new Germany.

LOL!  Based on Reykjavik's airport alone, I'd say it's the perfect place to market that album.

Great premise :)

like Hasselhoff ...sorry, that totally cracked me up.

Well, this is it. The essence of that thing he and Pam have...still have! And no matter how lovely Karen is, no matter how earnestly she tries...she just doesn't get it. As you so clearly illustrate.  So, how long can they agree to forget? Sadly, on the show, maybe for a long, long time. Can't wait for your next installment. Love this. Much.

Author's Response:

I'm saying within the next 10 days you'll see some of the pretense disappear.  Just saying!

The phenomenon that is David Hasselhoff boggles the mind.  And - you know that Dwight is a Knight Rider fan.  You KNOW it.  LOL!

Aww I loved this installment. I like insights on why no, there is nothing wrong about Karen per say, just nothing as right for Jim as Pam! I'm actually pretty sure a Kenny G of the mullet set is way over due

Author's Response: Exactly.  I'm going to keep bringing that point up - until nbc shows me it for real.

Author's Response: Thanks Treble!
