Oh, Happy New Year to you, Moxie!  A down comforter?  Really now!  Awesome!  And a 2007 that starts with Pam in Jim's bed is The Best.  And I love how the sweater is now The Sweater.  Hee!  And Pam still owes Jim another kiss.  Yes, I am keeping score!

Author's Response:

I have no doubt you are keeping score! ;-)  You are keeping me on the right track with this!

Happy New Year!

I really, really, really love this story. Each chapter is so satisfying. Your characterizations are spot on. I love the boldness both of them have shown in the last few chapters.  Also, the research your doing on each gift is phenomenal.

I hope your muse stays with you for a long, long time -- or at least until this story is done. It's the one I look forward to most right now.

Author's Response:

thanks - I'm so glad you are loving it.  I had the most fun trying to come up with th 12 gifts...

I love reading your descriptions of the gifts, and the intracacies of the ornaments and of course, the notes.  I really feel like I can see the ornaments. I also love the end notes where you give us the links to find out more about the details (The More You Know). I totally love this story and I love you for being the awesome author that you are.  Now, with that lovefest out of the way, please update soon!!

"He was more afraid, however, of facing the cause of his growing disinterest in Karen: a pair of sparkling hazel eyes, an infectious laugh, and a warm heart that he wished everyday belonged to him."   Sigh.... I sure hope these gifts are from Pam!!

Oh Parma - please give us another gift tonight!  hehe...

Oy...poor Karen but really I'm glad Jim finally ripped off the bandaid - she's just not for him.  I'm anxiously awaiting the next "package" :)

Thanks for this.

What an awesome message - "The Partridge Family got it wrong. I don't think, I know."  I love this story already!

Karen sometimes just assumed he wasn't really serious when he went against something she said...Resigned to his fate and the change in his plans, Jim headed upstairs for a shower.

This is a great insight into Jim's character. He is unwilling to put up a fight, no matter who it is, Michael, Pam or Karen.

“Don't you think I deserve a better explanation than just 'I can't'?” The irony was not lost on Jim.

In my best Kevin voice "Niiiiice."

“I think the world of you Karen, I really do,” he said.

I can really hear Jim say this.

“Tell her that I hold her blameless in all of this. I don't think I could bear to lose her friendship as well. Tell her I still want her around.”

Classy Karen. I love how you have written her.

Jim seemed a little to "teenage girly" at the end on his bed. But then maybe he gets a little bit giddy thinking about Pam!  This has been AWESOME!!! Keep the chapters coming!

I just knew the Five Golden Rings would be an important chapter!  Now, I suppose you are going to be unflinchingly rigid and dole out just one chapter each day, huh?

And Karen & Jim at a party with the SNL cast (even though it didn't happen) -- love it!

The chapter has a lot of really great developments and I'm excited to read the rest soon!

This line: “Please,” Karen said, a little more kindly. “I want to know why I'm losing you.” was like a knife to the chest. So painful, but good. And I have special love for your nod to Saturn because I'm currently writing a fourth, planet-themed fic and although Saturn isn't one of my planets, I was excited. I don't know why. Can't wait till the next chapter!

Oh Moxie, you sneaky, sneaky woman you.  I actually stopped eating my dinner midway through this - totally forgot about it because i got so absorbed in the story.

What I would not give for Jim to make Pam a mix CD.  I really love the plot elements you've set up here.

Okay, the Ben-Gay? is To. Ta. Ly. Hot. I don't mean the tingly feeling from the ointment, either. I love her giving him a backrub, even though it did feel a bit contrived. I'm not really sure Pam is comfortable enough with Jim at this point to get physical with him, and a backrub is very physical, very intimate. So much so, that I don't see Jim being able to stand it for more than a few minutes before he rolled over and caught her in his arms. Most guys his age, especially if they haven't gotten laid in a while, will react pretty strongly to a woman's hands on their back like that. Notwithstanding, I loved him just slipping off to sleep like that, and the fact that she stayed with him. And the FRENCH MOVIES. Oh, yeah. Absolutely.

He stared back, a look of insistence and hope.

I can just SEE this so clearly.

He was greedy for what little bit of time alone he could get with her.

WHEN is this boy gonna wake up and smell the chamomile tea?

Dwight's recitation of the Harry Turtledove bibliography was hilarious. So Dwigt of him.

Loved the glimpse of young Jim drowning his sorrows in music. Totally believable.

I immediately 'got' the Patridge family reference "I don't think, I know". I am dating myself. :D

Loved it that Jim made Pam a mix CD. So personal, so him.

I'm not really sure why the rest of last night's date is HERE rather than in the previous chapter, but oh well. I still love the Ben-Gay back rub, but still believe it would last about three minutes and then Jim would be all over Pam. Or any other woman who put her hands on him, at this point. Guy probably has blue balls the size of grapefruit by now. :D

Well, I'll admit the whole Yukon Cornelius thing went past me, but the poem didn't. What a wonderful verse.

Karen's behavior at the restaurant, and Jim's whole interior monologue, made me ache. Call it off, Jim, it's never going to work. She needs to move on, too.

More parking lot angst. Will Jim never learn?

Yukon Cornelius?  Moxie, your 12 days gifts are totally amazing!

A teensy part of me wanted Jim to take Karen to Cuggino's and break up with her.  Is that mean?   Now I am just crazy anxious waiting for each new day & each  new delivery.  Cannot WAIT to see what the weekend brings.

Oh!  I'm mad at Jim for giving into Karen about going to the city.  And I'm mad at Karen for saying the gift-a-day idea is stupid.

I am so hooked on this story, and I can't wait to read more!
