“I need someplace to stay.” She said this so softly he had to strain to hear her in the stillness of the evening, leaning toward her slightly.  Something inside of him suddenly wanted to protect her.

All I can say is this is the way it should have been.  Beautifully written.  When I'm reading Jim and Pam stuff, I sometimes forget that's who I'm reading about in the middle of the story.  I never did here.  The voices are very clearly them; so are Roy and Mark.

Thanks to EverybodyHurts for highlighting this story.  Just killed off the most productive part of my Saturday morning!

Author's Response: Thank you so much.  I try to stay as true to the characters as I can.  Brokenloon helps me with that alot.  I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! (not sure what the everybodyhurts thing is about, but thanks to everybodyhurts I guess lol)

Summary: Past Featured StoryA collection of loosely-related moments (more like a bunch of one shots than a WIP. So jump in and out as you like.) Unapologetic smuff.

I love it.  It's so Jim and Pam.  Funny, playful, and very hot.  The shaving image was just perfectly done.

 More?  Please and thank you.

Author's Response: Glad you found this...sort of goes with the Jim-in-a-towel theme on the board today, LOL. And also pleased you thought it felt like them - maybe the HBO version? Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, sweetpea!

My God, I need a cigarette.  First the towel (complete with shaving and cream and steam) and now this?  Jim the sweaty basketball playing hothead with boxer briefs?  So, so good.

Author's Response:

Love that description: 'Jim the sweaty basketball playing hothead with boxer briefs.' Absofruitely.

Glad this smuffball entertained you. You know, I just realized that starting with Lost & Found, I've alternated every 'serious' story with this kind of silliness. Guess that means it's time to write another one... Still loving your new series, btw. Thanks so much, sweetpea!

Thank you for finally letting Jim drop the anvil on Pam's head with only two words:  "Everything's changed."  It's been a revelation reading your Pam - how frustrating she can be simply because she doesn't know herself.  I am really, really hoping for a confrontation of words between Roy and Jim.  How I wish we could have seen THAT deleted scene!  I can picture Jim saying to Roy all he wishes he could say to Pam.  Love the title for this one, too.

I hope the decks are cleared for the weekend.  Can I do your laundry?

Author's Response:

It's really great to hear you say you've enjoyed reading my Pam -- I find her far harder to write than Jim, and I know the way I've written her in this one has (understandably) frustrated some readers.  But I could see things unfolding this way IF she were just a hair more self destructive (which thank god she apparently isn't).

THe Jim/Roy confrontation is more physical than verbal, but hopefully it'll do the trick.  LOL.

And oh dear god - I would write ten chapters for you if you'd do my laundry (haaaate that).  :o)

Thanks for reviewing!

I really couldn't imagine what these two might fight about, but you pegged it so perfectly.  And the makeup sex?  Made me wish I had someone to fight with.  Looks like everyone fell for the "Can I kiss you for a little bit?" line - which is great - but I love Jim at the door.  I would pay good American dollars to see that onscreen.  Wonderful and so hot.

Author's Response: Oh, I'm great at finding things to fight about (just ask Mr. C, LOL.) If only this show were on HBO so we could see this kind of stuff...though, that might be the end of fanfic! Anyway, so glad you enjoyed this, Sweetpea and thanks so much for reviewing!

Wow, I'll tell you what.  Ole Pammy was right - this asking for what you want is just awesome!  So sweet, so funny.  Pam touching him in his private areas is just the funniest thing ever.  I heard that whole exchange (especially "oh my goodness") in Pam's voice from The Injury when she was talking to poor, concussed Dwight.  Man, I love drunk!Jim so much but I love your Pam best out of all the Pams.  Thank you!!!

Author's Response: Well thanks for bringing this chapter back down to earth, my friend. It hovered in some weird realm before you got a hold of it. :-) Here's to you and Pam asking for what you want! You think if I ask for my show back, I'll get it? lol.

I'm STILL laughing.  Honestly, you go straight to that real and completely dorky element without ever being too much of anything that a good fic shouldn't be too much of.  (got that?)  I love Jim the 7th grader ("maybe it would help if you hummed something") so much.

Author's Response: Man, I love your sentences. Say that again! ;-) Thanks Sweetpea. Lord knows this would not have seen the light of day without ya. :-)

This is only 24 chapters overdue, but like Pam, I'm trying to be more open and honest.  I love these IMs.  They give each episode a little different perspective and round out the relationship more.

This last one is totally believable to me - I can see Pam having the guts to do this over IM, especially being at home instead of at work.

Love them all and I'm always excited to see an update.

Author's Response: Thank you, "rounding out" is kind of what I'm hoping to do here. I'm glad you felt this was believable. I'm always happy to update, so I'm happy you want to see them ;)

I can see how hard this one would be to write, but I think you got it all down perfectly.  I like how both of them have been left with something to think about, that they're both going to be more aware of each other now, which is exactly how I felt after this episode - they might not be talking, but they're totally zoned in on each other.  Very nicely done.

So effing brilliant!  How did you do that with just the smileys?  I was picturing Jim's face doing each one.  This might be my favorite one so far.

This captures his mood perfectly, I think!  This comment:

you mean when I was still a junior-level salesman after 5 years, making half as much money, driving a used magenta Corolla, and having practically no personal life because I was desperately infatuated with an engaged woman?

is the best description of S3 Jim not wanting to be the pathetic guy anymore.  Love it and I love Larissa!  Stay on him, sister!

Summary: Past Featured Story

Jim and Pam surrender to silence after "The Job." A virtual smut-angst festival!

This is smut. Serious, hard-core, unapologetic, squirm in your seat, not-safe-for-work, wild and unhinihibited smut, punctuated by merciless and heart-wrenching angst. In a couple of chapters, there will be smutty angst, and in others, angsty smut. There's even a couple of chapters with no smut at all and some fluff-happy-funny mixed in! But it all ends with a happy bang! Haw. You were warned.

I really loved both of these chapters.  I think it's really tough to write Angela because her character is so over-the-top, but you've done a great job with her.  Interesting to think she wasn't always so buttoned up and rigid.  Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: I'm really glad that you liked the chapters, and found her backstory interesting. It's definitely a departure for me, and what I normally write. I like to think that outside of the Office, and outside of where they are in the present, maybe a lot of the characters acted differently. Thanks for the review Sweetpea.

Oh, Colette.  I read this and think, just once more, I'd like to have this.  I love this:

She looks impossibly white, all diffuse velvety curves in the dark, like an old black and white movie still.

And she is most definitely a place for him.  Sigh.  So wonderful.

Author's Response: Yeah, I think we feel their relationship so strongly because, at some level, it's what we all want - to be that deeply known/loved unconditionally. Glad that sense came through for you here and that you liked that image - it just seemed to work in my very graphic imagination, lol. Thanks, as ever, Sweetpea...you always get it ;-)

Oh, Colette!  I wore this album out years ago!  This:

He considers opening his letter with a lame joke about the convention renewing his commitment to paper. But he doesn’t, because they have plenty of jokes already. He wants to tell her things that aren’t funny.

is perfect Jim.  I think we need to read through Pam's box of love letters and you need to write them.

Author's Response: I figured I wasn't the only one with some well worn vinyl Joni. I hadn't thought about Blue in ages, then suddenly got a yen to hear it - asked one of my kids to burn it onto a CD and it still holds up SO well. Some great Pam/Jim-ish lyrics too. Glad you thought Jim rang true here...hmm, a whole fic written in his love letters? Might be interesting... Thanks so much sweatpea!

I've read this four times now, Colette.  Never has the flu sounded so romantic and sweet.  How did you do that?  I love that very first image of her pulling his shirt off with his arms in the air.

"Maybe she'll do anything he wants."  Yeah, she will.  Lovely.

Author's Response: Tickled that you said that, cause that image was the seed of this one. I needed to purge it from my head, lol. Thanks a lot, Sweetpea (fellow vignette-writing-addict!)
