Oh, Pam. Ouch. I got really sad reading that. There's no wonder why she goes back to Roy. I'm looking forward to see how you handle the rest of the season. Did you know there's an awkward Jim/Pam deleted scene from Cocktails?

Author's Response: there is? i\'m writing that chapter right now and having a world of trouble with it, so a description of that scene would be appreciated...any other new insight the dvds have to offer is welcolm too, don\'t worry about spoiling me. though maybe message me rather than posting for those who haven\'t gotten that far on the dvds ;-)

I liked it. I really like your interactions between Jim and Larissa. It seems like her meddling caused him to dedicate himself more to his relationship with Karen, which, while sad, makes sense at this point in the season. I'm excited to see how you wrap it all up!

While it's nice having them talk again, how do you explain Pam's "We're not even friends anymore" in Beach Games? I mean, sure, they're not as close as they once were, but this sounds pretty friendly to me! I'm just asking because I know you will have a well-thought out explanation :-)

I love how Jim completely avoided the subject of what else happened on the day they read "Threat Level Midnight."

Author's Response: I don't know if it's well thought out, but here's my explanation for this chapter: They may be talking again, but it is on IM and Jim is keeping the conversation strictly work related. He brings up the incident with Andy's girlfriend simply because he can't help himself and also because part of him knows Pam will respond better to it than Karen (since her sense of humor is darker and a little more cynical). Pam's response does makes him a little more comfortable and then he slips and mentions Samuel L Chang. He didn't mean to, but he brought up a day that was fun and special for both of them and to his horror Pam picks up on it right away. Like you said, he then completely avoids the topic and immediately steers back to the "safe" topic of the paper, as well as starts his exit from the conversation. You can think of this as a "slip" that make him avoid Pam and throw himself at Karen even more.

Ah, the two women in Jim's life! I loved that Jim initiated the conversation with Pam but that Karen was the one initiating the conversation with Jim. Niiiiice. Post Beach Games now, I'm trying to go to bed early these days! :-)

That's right Jim, what are you so scared of! Ditch that rebound named Karen and come back where you belong! I literally can't wait to see what you have in mind for The Job. Can't believe this is coming to an end!

Oh, and my vote for Season Four...I really liked how you were able to use the seasons as a whole to craft the different IMs, so I'd worry that the subtle allusions and stuff might get lost if you write it in real time, so to speak. But who am I kidding, I'd read it either way. Thanks for posting again so soon. Now I can go to sleep :-)

Author's Response: No, I completely agree with you, which is why I'm reluctant to say I'll do anything during the season, so I should probably just go ahead and say look for EiE season 4 in Summer '08, it's better to keep the fans wanting more than to give them too much ;-)

Summary:

There are some nosy people in the office. Starts mid-season 3 and continues to a happy time and place that currently exists only in my head.

Wow! This was so great! Such an interesting idea. And you really got the different voices down pat. Dwight's chapter, in particular, was so Dwight. And Creed's too. Ryan is such a bastard! The only thing I would say is to fix your formatting so it's easier on the eyes. But, yeah, I really enjoyed this!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review!

I've been trying to fix the formatting, but the story is resisting... I'll keep at it :)

Very nice! This brought a smile to my face on this dreary Monday morning. You did a really good job of a slow build, from a little crush to something more. I think the description of Karen chipping away little parts of who he was is so dead on. And this line was so beautiful:

But she was ready to let him go if that’s what he needed, and that was seemingly what brought him back to her with the revelation that he couldn’t let her go.

Sigh :-) Great job!

Well, I have one criticism for this chapter...it was entirely TOO SHORT! The thing I love about this story is that the characters feel exactly the same as they do on the show. And just like on the show, Jim and Pam just need to talk to each other. Also, I don't know if I've said this already, but I really hope Roy does not make an appearance here!

I loved the Saved By The Bell references! I think Andy is Screech, rather than Ryan. Although Andy would not realize it, so great job! :-)

Author's Response:

I know, it was one of my shorter ones :(  More to come though, I promise!

Seriously, these kids need a lesson in communication!

Thanks for reading sudzy!

Author's Response: Well, if you notice, this story references a lot of different episodes. With the biggest one being (and I'm not sure how many people got this) the picture Pam makes for Jim. Thanks for the review supergirlsudz.

Wow! Great job. I think your take on what happens immediately after "it's a date" just might be my favorite. You should write about Dwight and Andy's Dunder Mifflin Sleepover! I really loved this line:

His chest contracts painfully as he pictures touching Pam’s hand across a table (without making excuses about palm reading or eight thousand other reasons he’s found over the years to make physical contact without crossing the line).

Thanks for an enjoyable read...and for getting "Under Pressure" stuck in my head :-P

You should write about Dwight and Andy's Dunder Mifflin Sleepover!

Okay, now that's a brilliant idea. *taps chin thoughtfully* Hmmm. I'm not sorry I got that song stuck in your head, because it's awesome. And it could be much worse.  Thanks so much for the great comment, supersudzgirl!

Is it possible to be jealous of fictional characters? I love the way you describe their relationship. It's not perfect in the sense that they do fight and they do have issues, but it is perfect in the sense that it's so them. I loved the image of Jim and Pam imitating Dwight and Angela! And also I loved how you handled Karen and Roy and how it wasn't soap opera theatrics or out-of-character. And I absolutely loved this:

...how she hated how his hair looked for a while after Phyllis' wedding and she couldn't sketch anything of him.

I'm glad Pam even noticed Jim's end of Season 3 hair don't! I don't think this is cheesy at all. Great job :-)

Author's Response:

I think it is, because I am. [or maybe that's me deluding myself.] And I want Karen and Roy to be quiet [hah], because anything more completely defies all rules of not just Jim and Pam, but the show itself.

And I don't think there was anyone who didn't notice Jim's S3 hair-don't! :D Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me what you liked about this.

Wow! This was so great! Sometimes I have a hard time following the dialogue-only stories but you did such a good job making clear who was talking. When you said how they had a big conversation on May 18, I was like, ooh, can you do a chapter on that? But then you told us some of the good stuff anyways! Great job :-)

Author's Response: I have a hard time following sometimes, too, sudzy, so I'm really glad it was clear.  mixedberryjam helped me so much with that.  Please let Greg Daniels give us just one smidge of this kind of stuff this season and I will be ecstatic!  Thank you so much for the sweet review.
