I really like the way they are using restraint with each other It ups the sexual tension, which is always good, and it shows that they are thoughtful adults with the big picture in mind. Good technique.

9 Sigh...that was beautiful. I like how you get the "lateness" in without hitting us over the head with it. Very skillful.
One of the best things about this chapter was the rhythm of it all. There was sort of this two steps forward one step back movement in terms of taking intimate risks and saying things that needed to be said. Part of the way you did that was by interspersing things like eating and sex and getting undressed. Very few of us can say everything we've been afraid to say all at once. You are a very skilled writer, and I thought you did a great job with both of their voices. Thank you for a beautiful look inside their new relationship.
It's easy to feel insignificant.

I love how you took hints that we got int he shows and blew them up into major character flaws--like Karen wanting to mold Jim, and Jim using her to deal with his grief over Pam...and his intertia. Good job. You even wrote David Wallace well.

I love hearing about the details from Pam's POV. I think it worked perfectly to have Jim describe the painting first, then hear what Pam was thinking.
