Yep. You killed me.

Guh. I don't think I've ever read a more heartbreaking look at Pam, post-calling it off. It was tragic but beautiful.

This is one of my favorite things I've read:
Pam told herself the whole story for the first time.

Author's Response: *nudges flonk with her toe* Great. I wonder if Dwight has room in the family plot? Thank you for your review. The section with the power outage and the walk down the street was the first thing I wrote for this chapter. In a way, it\'s autobiographical, as are quite a few things I included here. I\'m glad you enjoyed it, even if it means I have blood on my hands now.

I'm SO upset to see this finish and can't wait for your next one!

This chapter was sweet and a really nice way to end the story. I liked that you still kept the contents of the card a mystery, because I tend to cringe when people try to write it.

Also, love this line..
Pam rarely said hello when she called. It made him want to take her pretty face between his hands and kiss her.

Author's Response: You found one of my favorite lines. Thanks so much for your review, flonk. Like I told Callisto, I *did* write the card, and I spent a long time trying to decide if I should include it. As always, less seemed liked more. I\'m glad others are agreeing with me.

Gorgeous. I was very excited to see that you've ventured back over here, and this didn't disappoint in the slightest. It was so Jim, and in particular, the part about seeing the city in Karen's eyes but it never comparing to Pam's eyes on the beach.. LOVED that.

GORGEOUS. And terribly sweet. Any time you describe Jim's voice, I pretty much have the same reaction as Pam, haha.

Author's Response: Thanks so much flonkerton. I don\'t do a lot of out and out fluff so this was a fun to write, I\'m so glad people have enjoyed it. And yeah. Jim\'s sexy voice should be carefully rationed, I can\'t be held responsible for my reaction to it in high doses.

You have to be the most unique writer on here. This story is so captivating and you've brought these characters - in a way that doesn't feel forced, it's just REAL - into an entirely different world but kept everything that makes us love them. This was just wonderful to read, and so gorgeous, and God just that John interview in itself makes me swoon and seeing it all fleshed out... coherency isn't one of my strong points in my reviews, obviously. Just know that this story is perfect in about ten different ways.

Author's Response:

The JK interview is indeed swoonworthy, isn't it, flonkerton?  It's easy to imagine him like this after he pretty much laid the character out for me!  Thanks, John!  Call me!

All your comments here, wow.  They make me feel great.  This is the first real AU story for me, so I wasn't sure at all if it was going to work - taking the characters completely out of their context and creating a new one?  But the picture I had of Jim as a teacher was so clear in my mind - I just wanted to make it real.  So when I read this, yeah, that's a big smile on my face.

I've not written a ton of stories, but I'm trying to challenge myself.  I'm evolving!  Well, maybe not so much.  I'll be back in the smut saddle after this.  :-)  Thank you for such a great review!

Summary: She never just says ‘we’re engaged.’ It’s always ‘we’re getting married.’ It’s like she has to convince people that this time is for real.

The combination of you two on one story is going to kick my ass, for sure. I can hardly wait to see where this goes. The detail about the beet farm is beautiful (imagine that- Schrute Farms sounds amazing in your words), and I'm eager to see what you two make of Andy, Angela, and Dwight. And the detail of Jim playing with Pam's wedding ring is something I've secretly hoped they'd do in the show, it's very sweet and intimate. This is, as usual, wonderful so far.

Author's Response: Living where I do, I can assure you that farm country can be both crushingly beautiful and straight out of Deliverance at the same time. Since Dwight seems to love it so, I\'ve always assumed that Schrute Farms is striking that particular balance. We\'ve got some big, hand-rubbing plans for Dwight, Andy, and Angela, and, of course, Pam and Jim won\'t simply be left to drink moonshine and enjoy the evening. That wouldn\'t be fun for anyone. Thanks, flonk.

God, this makes me feel better about the episode a bit. It was such a scary moment and I hate that they don't show things that obviously would have happened- like Jim and Pam's dual voice mails that would have prompted them to call each other right away, or them discussing this. I hope something like this has happened and is talked about in the next episode.

That was a lot of rambling. Long story short, I loved it, thank you for writing it and upholding my sanity =)

Author's Response: Don\'t worry, flonkerton. All will be well, I just know it. At least... I think so. I wish they\'d let us in on their conversation, but since they no doubt won\'t, I hope it went something like this. Glad you liked it. Thanks for reviewing!! :)

This sexiness better be headed in the direction I hope it takes in the next chapter ;) Haha

I'm really going to miss this story. It was nice to have a stress-free, long story that was just about two people meeting and how their relationship develops without unnecessary angst and things. It was refreshing. And of course, it was about where I'm from, and I've loved imagining Pam and Jim in the same places I've been.

This ending was so, so sweet and hot and great =)

Author's Response: I\'m so happy you enjoyed it, and that you were able to relate to some of the images in this story. Gotta love the Mid-west!
