i think i just died oh my god. the banter.

I just went back and reread this story. I'd forgotten about it. Wow. The craziest thing is how spot on you were with the way Jim handled telling Karen about Pam and the final confrontation about it. (The Yes heard round the world, anyone?) And I believe this was written before The Return aired, right? CRAZY. It gave me chills a little bit.

(Bob) You fall asleep while she’s talking?

(Ryan) Not as much as I’d like to, Bob.

I can hear the self-deprecation in Ryan's voice. 

I won't even get into the hotness of the smut because holy hell so hot, but instead this is awesome because  of course jim keeps his porn in a tupperware container (that he probably got from his mom or an aunt or something  as a housewarming gift) and of course he wears a sombrero and speaks in broken, awful spanish when he makes mexican food.

awesome. so awesome.

 there is nothing i hate more who get so bent on smut that they forget that the little personality quirks are what make us care about the characters and are therefore the things that make them the most sexy.

God, I love this so much, and just a suggestion. Maybe you didn't intend it, but you could totally add "Ensemble" to that story description somewhere, because this is one of the first true ensemble fics I felt like I've read in a while where all the characterizations were just....perfect.

I love pam/ryan but only I think when it is this version of ryan. Or well, basically the ryan we all know and love under the influence of Pam. which I guess is the point.  Um basically I love this so far and I'm really excited about the jim/pam stuff, too, because I really, really am a sucker for a truly symmetrical love triangle which is where it looks like this story could be going.

god i have wanted to read this kind of story forever. i kind of love voyeur!pam and the reminder that jim actually is, you know, a guy. who has sex.

i loved it. one thing, something wonky happened with the formatting towards the end. It all ended up in a block of text? Maybe that's what you were going for, but it got a little hard to read with the dialogue and everything all in there together. Seriously though, really great stuff.

I loved it. I am a sucker for a good Jim POV, which is a double edged sword for me, because when Jim feels off in fic from his pov it can ruin an otherwise good fic for me, but your Jim is so, so perfect. I noticed that in Better Version of Me, but I especially like it here. I like the way you drew a good picture of what Jim was like in bed vs what he was like in bed his first time with Pam and then, as he got used to her, the way he sort of fell back into his instincts. This comment is getting rambly, but I just loved that. Too often, I think people try to compensate for this almost asexual version of Jim we get on the show by turning him into either a) a sex god who has been waiting to awaken Pam with all of his mad skills or b) someone who's never been that into sex...but now he has Pam, so bring on the kink....It's extremely flat and it's extremely boring, but this is...God this is perfect. Write more. Definitely write more.

Author's Response: You bring up some good points, jamband. First off, I love good Jim POV fic, too, but there\'s not a lot of it out there. Granted, it\'s *hard* to write (this took me about two weeks of second-guessing and editing), but it\'s not *that* hard. And it seems to me that anyone who writes a version of Jim that resembles either a or b above has never really interacted with a slighty geeky 28-year-old guy. There\'s just too much dork there for sex god to be believeable, and too much - well, too much being a 28-year-old guy for disinterest in sex to many any sense at all. Many thanks for your comments.

I was hesitant about this story at first. I flirted with it, reading skimming a little and then I'd get to the bold sections and I'd just ache and I couldn't do it, but I just read it all in one fell swoop and oh my god i am so in love. The problem I think I've always had with these "post-jam apocolypse" type stories or not a problem so much as why I can't really read them much anymore...is all the one's I've read are Pam-centric. Now, I love Pam, and yes, of course I want her to be happy, but...I always end up feeling like Jim gets the shaft and like I want to hear that he's happy, too and most of those stories don't deliver that.

 This one on the other hand, is not only extremely fair to both Jim and Pam, but, we get to see Jim be happy...or well, getting to that point. Not only that, but, Emily, unlike most female ocs in fanfic is NOT a mary sue. she's warm and funny and cute (but not a carebear and 'script-worthy' snarky and you don't use seven paragraphs telling us how beautiful she is) i love it. Now, just out of curiosity, because I always like to do this, did you have any actresses in mind when you laid her out? I keep picturing her as a kind of blonder, pre-dark night, pre secretary maggie gyllenhaal. Like maggie circa riding in cars with boys. Well, and tall. Because I think maybe she's shorter. 

oh my god i haven't been to the site in a few days and  i come to find not one update but 3! this is the best day ever.
