I've got to admit, when the first chapter of this story was posted, I read it and I was turned off, because a) I thought Pam was dead/Jim had killed her and I did not want to read THAT story and b) because I usually avoid suspenseful stories like the plague because...well I've never seen suspense done well in fanfic. The other night, though, I was desperate for something new to read and this one was the only thing on the most recent list I hadn't checked out yet. I read like 6 chapters in one night. I can't stop! I need more! This is so...I love it! Which I never thought I'd be saying about a suspense piece, but it really is quite awesome. My money is on the neighbor. (But is his name Jacob or Scott? I got a little confused in this last chapter about that)

Yes. This. Absolutely. With everything between them just so...like palpable. I don't know, it really, really reminded me of the way Casino Night played out, too. Like I could totally see how that could have happened to them once or twice before and if it did then it definitely would have looked like this story.
Author's Response: Hi cosby - Thanks so much for your review. I think there are little pieces of many, many different parts of the fanon/canon in this story, Canary and Casino Night chief among them. Like in Canary, I was trying to play with the way that the tension could break without actually breaking; how something both physically and emotionally charged could happen between them without it really changing the overall arc of the story. Given Pam\'s nigh breathtaking powers of denial at this point in their story, I think this might work. Maybe. All depends what one believes about the characters, I suppose. Thanks again.
