I laughed out loud at the "waxing" line, and Pam's last line is very funny. I am so enjoying these!

Author's Response: You literally lol'ed? I'm very excited about that.

This is the most adorable chapter of all. It is so COMPLETELY Jim, even without a word being said. If you wrote no other chapters, this would still be a winner. Thanks so much!

Author's Response: Ah, well, I guess I can stop, then . . . hehe ;-) Glad you liked it.

Awwww Kelly. You did her wonderfully. So nice to see her as a normal girl, not a chatterbox. Which she can be, but all the time? Not realistic. So kudos for giving us a new view of Kelly.

And the "all slack-jawed and drooling" line was cute, funny, and very Jim. Well done!

Author's Response: Kelly's is a chatterer, but right now she's a wounded chatterer.  Thank you, NeverEnoughJam!

An eight-inch Jones??? What does that even...no. Don't tell me. I don't want to know. Especially if Michael Scott made it up. Which you did perfectly. I winced with every word the man said, which is a compliment to how well you wrote him. And Jan--strong yet crazy. Beautifully done. But you really outdid yourself with Pam. So typical of generous, big-hearted Pam to want to help someone else out of a jam (JaMichael? Okay, sorry.)

Anyway, I am loving this and can't wait for an update.

Author's Response: Hee.  I winced as I was typing it.  I wouldn't think about it too carefully, no.  Thank you!!!

Am I sitting in someone else’s chair?

Brilliant line. Truly brilliant. So true to Jim and his insight.

Also brilliant: every word that followed that. Wow.

I feel so young and stupid,

Aww. One of the sweetest lines from Jim ever. He sounds so much in love.

I thought a lot farther than this. It was the part in between I forgot to prepare for.

I love how you show us Jim's passion and his fear all wrapped up in two short sentences. Awesome. And the way he wants her so bad he literally cannot get up the stairs, the way they stop every few steps to tangle up again, is so sexy it just sizzles through my computer screen. I love it that Pam is just as impatient to get to that third floor as Jim, and nevertheless keeps stopping for more kisses; equal partners, as always. And you do all that by showing us, not telling us. Did I say "awesome" already?

And of course, because this is Jim and Pam, you lighten the mood with

“What’s wrong with the lights in this place?”

I can't wait for the update.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, NeverEnoughJam!  I was a little worried that it might not move fast enough for some, but I wanted them to be tied up on the stairs for a while, kind of being mutual obstacles to each other, if that makes any sense.

I seriously don't know what to say, except maybe "YOU WIN!" This was wonderfully sexy without being clinically graphic, sweet without being saccharine, and so beautifully in character. I loved Jim's line

I’m also a fan of the remix, Are You Reading All These Books or Starting a Library?”

*gigglesnort*

Most of all, I loved Pam's hesitation and fear at the fact that Jim is, despite their long acquaintance, new and strange as a lover. So very human and real a moment for her.

Beautifully done, as always. Thanks so much for this.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, NEJ!  I am always on the fence about whether I'm just taking the easy route with the non-graphic descriptions, but in the context of these characters, there just never seems to be any other way.

Adorable.

she waits on the threshold of something new, something that fills her with both hope and apprehension.

As do we all, with the premiere of S4 approaching.

I really cannot think of much to add to what I've said earlier; that this is an instant classic, is a masterwork, is something that I will return to over and over. The last three paragraphs are wonderful and sweet and mature and I wish I could write that well. Thank you, Annabel.

Dead ON Michael. So perfect a characterization of Michael Scott and his treatment of Pam. And your characterization of Jim is wonderful:

he ached to share in this with her; to shout “Hey, look at me! I think that’s funny too!”

I can just see that impatience in him, the need to share, the frustration of being blocked from sharing with her.

Wow this is breaking my heart. I like it. :)

I like the way you're writing this "lame, sad flashbacky Jim". He sounds like Jim, and yet not like any of the other Jims I've read here on MTT that sound so much like him, too. Does that make sense? I guess I'm trying to say that you've found a new and authentic voice for him I haven't read elsewhere. Congratulations. Can't wait for more!

I love the writing in this, and the points of view of each member of the family were fascinating.

what it felt like to be attached to loss, while not really losing anything

I also love David flirting mildly with his students--a foreshadowing of his youngest son's charm?

One thing; it appears that Larissa is not Jewish (she "respects her husband's family" -- not her own -- by giving the children Hebrew middle names, and apparently celebrates Christmas?). Unless she converts, her children are not Jewish under the laws observed by Conservative Jews (which you say David is). Hence Oliver would not have had the "right" to a birthright trip to Israel and might have been denied this (it happens today--complex issue). It's not a major flaw, just a point you might want to consider if you pursue this idea of Jim's family being Jewish.

I loved Jim having a gay brother. And I would LOVE to read a story where Jim visits him in San Francisco! That would be wonderful to read. I loved the image of Ben eating rose petals, and Tate writing a long dirty joke on Jim's leg cast (ooo! good one!), and Tate telling everyone in great detail about her period (that is so Jim of her somehow). And this line was both painful and funny, in a very good way:

Jim did not like secrets.

Yeah, he keeps them well, but there's no reason to think he likes them. Well done! I enjoyed reading this. I look forward to reading more, if you choose to continue.

Author's Response: i\'m glad you enjoyed this - thanks for your feedback! i think i\'m using this not as a starting point for more fic but as background for writing as i go forward. although if i want to rewrite his parents, i\'ll probably do that at the drop of a hat.\r\nas for the whole birthright trip: i sent oliver to israel :) in an effort to bring the story full circle. birthright trips, according to the website, are available for those who are jewish (and there\'s not really a lot of explanation of what that entails). i am seeing oliver being interested in such a past and history, because obviously jim is not connected to that. oliver wants to reclaim that part of his... family tree. ugh. over the line. too cheesey :) i do appreciate your thoughts, though.
