Oh my. Yes, this makes sense as who we'd meet but poor Pam. Poor poor Pamela. Still, a little heartbreak is necessary for growth, I suppose. Still well done on the Regency imitation, very enjoyable.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

I hate to see Pam suffers, but for both canons' sake, it has to happen. But that state will improve soon!

Ah, I am quite loving this. The transformation of Dwight finding Pam was particularly well done: "'Your idea of duties and your loyalty to Sir Michael do you honor,' he said cautiously, yet solemnly. 'I realize how painful it could be to let the guests encounter regrettable imperfections, but I truly believe that the unbaked biscuits are not your fault.'" Just a perfect transformation of that moment into a Regency-appropriate response. And I quite like the choice of Toby to come join the throng, and to excite Jim's jealous eyes. Wonder what Sir Michael's response to him will be. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review! It means a lot to me.

I am glad I could keep believable the Regency stylization. Perhaps, this is partly why the thing goes a little bit slower than I'd like them, but, I hope, I'm not dragging the story. The next chapter is ready :)

Oh capital letters! This was delightful, and I think the conceit is growing even better as you go along. I liked Toby.

Author's Response:

Thank you! I like Toby too.

And I hope the next chapter lives up to your expectation :)

I am still very much enjoying this tale and I confess to not knowing where it will go next but still be being quite here for it whatever it is.

Author's Response: Thank you for sticking with this story! I hope it won't disappoint you :)

Lovely. A good snap indeed, and well deserved.

I am still very much enjoying this. Poor Michael. But good on Jim. Let's see how things progress...

Author's Response: Thank you! The continuation will be soon :)

Oh that is adorable. A very good letter and a very lovely response to it. I do wonder how Jim got away from the Bath party--and Karen--but then again, the show never really bothered to deal with that in detail either ;)

Author's Response:

Thank you so much!

I think Jim went with the line 'Oh Lord, how could I forget <insert needed object> in Dunder Hall? I cannot do without it!' And then he rode into the sunset. Into the noon, to be precise :)

Well that was lovely as ever. I'm glad you made this, and that you saw it through. How delightful (and 300 pounds; how rich the Beeslys truly are). A catch indeed, and a great story.

Summary:

Pam thinks of Jim.

Set somewhere in the midst of Season 2.

Well that was unexpectedly lyrical. Good writing! Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response: Thanks Comfect!

I'm glad your Jim admits he did the card; that was my least favorite part of the other classic fic. As always, good work on the details around the action.

Author's Response: I was thinking of going the secret sender route, but as you say it's been done, and I think Pam's smart enough to figure things out. That and I think at this stage in their relationship she could kiss a confession out of him fairly easily if he tried that.

Oh ho, so this is a the-doc-is-real fic. I like it. Nice work Jim (and warrior).

Author's Response: Writers strike, doc crew strike, potato-potahato. Why come up with something really over the top when there's an easy out that serves the purpose just fine as to why their first Christmas wasn't filmed.

As I said in ch. 1, you always do such a good job with the incidental details. This chapter has that in spades. You should be proud of your scene-setting.

Author's Response: One of my favorite authors once said about writing, "paint a picture with words." Glad that approach is working here.

I very much like the extracurricular activities you have them engaging in. Totally plausible in canon yet unexplored.

Author's Response: Yeah we didn't really get to see a lot of Jim and Pam's dates. At least this early in their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. It's fun to explore some of that.

You do a great job here of evoking a terrible Monday we could all relate to but then imbuing it with Office sensations. Well done.

Author's Response: Monday's are evil things deserving to be slain at all costs. Glad you liked how this Monday was put down.

The double prank was a surprise to me and well-executed. Out of jellybeans but really digging this story.

Author's Response: Thanks. Writing a new prank is sometimes hard since there are already so many good ones. Glad you liked this one too.

I'm so glad you've leaned into the slice of life instead of overemphasizing the cards. It's a lovely technique.

Author's Response: Thank you for that. The cards and holiday season are fun to be sure. But life still goes on regardless of season.

Oh man, Jim, need to tap that thing a lot more to get the bubbles out. But the taps did signal to me the possibility of it exploding so I loved it.

Author's Response: You'd think he'd be more cautious at this point right? It was fun to have him the target this time around though.

I loved what you did with the Whitman quote and Michael's reaction. Brilliant. Also the card ideas are very inventive.

Author's Response: I'm really glad you picked up on the Whitman quote. I just can't really envision Michael knowing anymore to that poem other than what he knows from the movie so it was fun to play off that.

I'm glad Michael didn't leap, but it's an inventive idea (as I said last time). Sorry for Pam about her family, but again in character.

Author's Response: Some things just pan out and having Michael as the one leaping just seemed to work. I was sorry for Pam too. Holidays can be a huge time of stress and sadly such things can happen to even the best of people.

A wonderful counterpoint to the last chapter. Though I always wonder: how annoyed would Pam be by the contrast? Brilliant on the Dwights though.

Author's Response: To keep on from the last chapter, holidays are also about connecting together. I'm glad you got the counterpoint in these two chapters. All the Dwights were a ton of fun think up.

Drive safe you two! But of course it was back at the first place he left it. Jim's a romantic and into patterns.

Author's Response: Seemed fitting to have the cards wrap up where they started.

Awwwww. I want to say nice things about the real-actor references but it's all swamped by how sweet that present is at the end. So lovely and so very appropriate. A fitting end to a wonderful story.

See? You can write short (ish) ones :)

Author's Response: It took me a bit to think up Pam's present. What would be fitting for her after all these cards Jim has created? I'm very glad my solution in the form of her present was so well received.

Thank you so much for the review waterfall for this story. It made my night to see the number jump up like that. Likewise for the vote of confidence on shorter chapter stories. As much as I love diving deep into detail, there's a lot to say about getting to the point as well.

Summary: Feature

What if...Jim never got Pam's note? Jim accepted the corporate job? Married Karen? Pam quit? Married Roy? What if...both are divorced and run into each other again? AU.

I like this concept, though I'm having a hard time believing the Roy material, especially him getting that much custody or being responsible enough that she'd be ok with that. But suspending disbelief, I'm intrigued with where you go from here.

Author's Response: Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. More than likely, Pam didn’t want to argue over custody with Roy. I mean, they already had to go over finances, property, etc., which was probably stressful enough for her, whilst also taking classes and working and such. But who knows? Maybe that could change.

I mean, people here ruin Karen all the time (welcome! Glad you're here!). I buy Jim and his side of the story more (stupid to drive in Manhattan but people do) and I'm hoping to see some of where they go next after the bump.

Author's Response:

Haha! Yeah I figured people ruin her lol. Thank you for your welcome! It is pretty stupid for locals to drive in Manhattan (I would only partly know, I lived most my life right outside of Philly), but maybe he prefers it? Prefers not having to wait for the subway? Something tells me Jim isn’t much for living in the city anyway.

An interesting update. I like their banter a lot, and Pam's introspection is great. A lot of the worldbuilding is hard to take in terms of canon characters (Jim didn't know Karen was career driven?) but I'm not in a position to throw stones in that way. It's fun to read!

Author's Response: You’re absolutely right! You would think he would know what he was getting into when getting married, but sometimes it takes people to learn the hard way. Thank you! d84;a039;
