Well that's an interesting twist, and will be very interesting when Jim finds out. Also that's a lot of parenting for Pam. Good luck to her!

Author's Response: Yeah! Single parenting (albeit sharing custody) isn’t easy! I might not have done it (hell, I’ve never had kids lol), but I’ve taught kids from split-custody households where they go from one house to another, it’s not easy whatsoever! I agree, and I hope Jim finds out soon!

That is definitely not filler. Gonna be interesting to have a date and not know about the kids. Also David Wallace had to already dislike Karen, right? Because otherwise Jim's calling her out would come across as petty. But I'll buy that he does given how you've set up Karen.

Author's Response:

Yeah, I feel like his opinion of her has gone down since the divorce. Something big like that can change a person and their behavior. We saw that Jim was wallowing in everything behind the scenes, but kept his work life professional. Karen could be the opposite: her personal life could be booming, but that could hinder her perfomance at work.

Also yes, she’ll have to tell him about the boys lol.

Thanks for your kind words!

I like your Isabel, so this works for me! Glad to see Pam thinking through how she feels about telling him things--and doing things with him...

Author's Response:

Lol true! Thank you! I find a lot of myself in Pam, and see my close group of friends as my hype-girls, who I basically based Isabel on.

Oh trust me, them doing things will happen ;)

I like this, most especially the filling out of the gifts from the teapot. The sequel's good too but this is delightful.

Author's Response: So glad you liked this. It was really fun to write. Thanks so much for the kind review.

January! Also, I love this. Good use of the Christmas Carol trope and nice OC.

Author's Response: Thanks Comfect! It was a lovely surprise to see a review from you. Wishing you all the best for the new year.

Oh I am very much looking forward to chapter 2. Jim's POV was great; nicely in character I think, so I'm excited for her POV.

Author's Response: Thank you! You are too kind. Part 2 is up now! I'd love to hear what you think.

Yeah this feels like the right number of and mix of emotions for Pam here. I wonder what Roy has been up to...

Good writing. Hope there's more to come!

Author's Response: Thank you! And in my next chapter, you'll find out about Roy. I just posted it :)

Aww, I really enjoy any story where Pam finds her strength earlier and this was a good example. Lovely to see her expressing what she wants and getting it. Good story!

Author's Response: Thank you! I guess I am a big fan of seasons 1 and 2, and I wish they had found their way to each other sooner, so I tend to set my stories up this way. I appreciate your kind review.

Interesting premise. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this; it's cool that you have experience in the field and welcome to writing! Warning: it's addictive.

Author's Response: Thanks for the warning! I appreciate you taking the time to review. I myself have enjoyed many of your works.

Oh no. Oh. No. Dwight! That was perfectly in character but awful. Love it.

Author's Response: Thank you! Staying true to the characters is something I find really challenging.

Very nice version of the guy meeting Michael in particular but really all of them. Good work.

Author's Response: Thanks! I was worried it might come across as either stilted or abrupt.

Aww. So sweet. Also it makes sense the film crew would be at least partially responsible. Nice job integrating various parts of canon here.

Author's Response: Thanks, I appreciate it!

Enjoying this, especially the reaction by Carl to Dwight. Often in the show Dwight's weirdness is just baked in, so it's nice to see a regular person react to him.

Author's Response: As a watcher of the show, I always wondered how people could just take Dwight in stride sometimes. Carl definitely has to do a double take, and decide that it's safer not to address it.

I like that you let Carl just do his job and leave. Someone in that office should get to. This was really fun; thanks for sharing it.

Author's Response: You're welcome, thanks for reading!

Aww! I like the creative use of events from later with circumstances from earlier. Good idea! And the execution is good too, especially the mix in Pam of rulebreaking and nerves. Good work.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you like how I'm putting this together. I hope you continue to enjoy this fic. Chapter 2 is up now; I'd love to hear what you think.

Ah, dang it, I was not expecting that angsty turn right there. It was well done and appropriate and all that, just hit me in the gut. Good writing, especially Josh and then Jim's inner monologue.

Author's Response: Glad you're feeling this. Thanks for letting me know :)

Woah there. I'm definitely hoping for that more soon, because that was quite the cliffhanger, all the more so because Pam is quite capable of platonically throwing herself into Jim's arms. But I trust you. Unlike Pam with Roy--or herself.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review, and for hanging patiently from that cliff.   I just posted chapter 4...

Definitely a nicer cliffhanger. I'm glad you gave us some of their internal processing here, and I'm hoping they can externalize it to each other soon (though if they don't that would, admittedly, be in character). Nice work.

Author's Response: So cool that you're reading this fic too. Thank you! Chapter 5 is up now.

Aw. Good job on the combination here of sexual connection and still being themselves, down to the awkwardness they still manage to work through. Looking forward to the rest!

Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you liked what I did with this chapter. I appreciate your kind words. More soon!

Well that makes Roy a triple? Quadruple? Asshole. Thanks for clarifying that he's lying, otherwise I'd feel bad for him (but worse for Pam). I'm hoping Pam figures it out quick and ideally publicly. Or just has a backbone and points out that his memory loss doesn't change who he is or how he's treated her.

Author's Response: Yes, Roy is acting pretty desperate here, on top of the lying. Don't lose faith in Pam, however, or Jim, for that matter. Thanks for the review. Next chapter will be up soon!

Well, that was a convincing way to fix that situation. Roy just can't keep his brain and mouth in gear together. Sorry things are so tough for Pam right now, but hopefully looking up going forward. Nice chapter.

Author's Response: So glad you liked what I did with this. Thanks so much for the kind review. Just posted chapter 8 :)

I enjoyed this a lot! I'm not sure the epilogue was necessary (unless you're setting up a sequel) but it was well-written. The story as a whole was a lot of fun!

Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I wrote the epilogue because I felt that with this Roy being so much worse than he was on the show, I felt it warranted Jim's more protective response. I really appreciate your review.

Summary:

It's 1995 and 16 year old Pam thinks she has everything figured out. All she wants is to be an artist, find a nice boy to fall in love with, and continue to think that everything happens for a reason.

The summer after her 16th birthday everything comes crashing down. Pam's life as she knew it begins to change. The perfect cocoon of a life she had originally had begins to crumble.

This definitely felt like a 16 year old's journal from what I remember. I'd be interested in whether you wanted to keep this as teen Pam or consider a fiction that she keeps doing it later. Also interested in how AU you want to get (or not).

Author's Response: I'm thinking starting here and then having it grow with her as she gets older. Might go a bit into AU, but haven't decided on that yet.

Nice response to the challenge. You could also call it 55 to leave Scranton (which I think is a challenge) but this is correct. Nice work!

Really intrigued by this. I don't know the source material but the setup you've given us, including the name, is remarkable. Plus I'm into a time swap where Karen predates Pam. Excited to see more.
