Summary: Set in season 3; what if Pam met someone (and not Roy) sometime around Phyllis' wedding? How would Jim react? How would this affect the Jim/Pam dynamic? Just adding a bit more angst to the already existing angst fest that is season 3!

Very much on point with the angst. I do wonder--you say it will continue with the episodes, but the arc you've sketched here emotionally is different than canon: Pam and Jim have talked a bit about the show, and Pam isn't single right now. So does that mean a different pace for their relationship going forward?

Summary:

"The veil of complacency that she had worn for a decade had fallen from her eyes and she now saw everything anew."

A series of episode related oneshots taking a look at what was going on in Pam Beesly's mind.

Well, shit. How AU are these glimpses intended to be? I really love the second half and Pam's thought process but I can't see Jim doing S3 if she's already told him she left Roy...

This is the kind of story that hits with big chunks of emotion and feeling and I have to almost sidle up to to let my brain process them. That's a major compliment to be clear. You do a great job of crystalizing despair here.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Comfect!

Oh, yes, I like that. We've had work from home in the US too, and this feels right. Especially Roy being an ass in the background. Good use of the setup to get that into Jim's awareness.

Author's Response:

Zoom meetings are the worst, but going out is even scarier. I'm a professor and we're going to keep stuff online at least until March 2021. Really crazy.

Of course, Roy's just being Roy. Although I've been visiting season 3 and he has his moments.

Well yeah Pam, Roy especially unemployed Roy, isn't a good housemate. You should look into changing that ;). Though that's really hard in lockdown...good luck to her! Good chapter.

Author's Response:

Thanks!

I think this kind of scenario brings up people's qualities, for better or worse.

Pam should be grateful: so many Americans don't even wear masks, at least her grocery store people do.

"Or had she just gone completely crazy and was starting to hallucinate colleagues in the fruit aisle?" This is my favorite line, good use of language.

Overall my favorite chapter so far.

Author's Response:

YAY! Thanks!!

About the mask wearing, a friend of mine who lives in New Mexico says things are very strict over there. You just can't get inside the store without a mask.

Down here, you can't even walk down the street without wearing one.

Lockdown would 💯 make it easier to break up. Definitely. I mean, harder practically but much easier to notice emotionally. Good work! Nice air-five!

Author's Response: Gawd that air-five was difficult! Lol!

Also, like, company is precious during lockdown, so of course Jim would be forward about becoming part of Pam's bubble/pod/personal contact group. Makes sense.

Good on Phyllis for having her back.

Awwwwww. Good job Jim being honest and Pam responding honestly! I'm glad for them, though of course here in the US "after coronavirus" is kind of ... Never.

Actually that might make a good plot point: when do they just say screw it, and well...

Author's Response:

That's the thing. Let's say she gets better in 2 weeks. Still, they'd have to wait another 2 for her not to be able to give it to him. Will they wait this long, though?

Thanks so much for your reviews!

So yeah, there probably isn't a rapid test at all in PA, but I'm fine with her not having to wait 36-72 hours to find out. So, um, how dark is this going to get? Because Covid can go a lot of ways...

Author's Response:

Thanks a lot for all your reviews, which I'm going to answer, but I wanted to clear this before you panic.

NOT very dark. :)

Oh Jim. You better not get Covid. But it's very sweet of him, and also in character. I am glad Roy wasn't an ass. He isn't fundamentally a bad guy, just totally wrong for Pam. Good storytelling.

Author's Response:

Thanks!

S3 Roy is trying his best to be a nice guy to Pam. Like when he tries to take her away from Michael's Grief Counselling.

OK, that was cute. I can't believe I missed that you were going to make them quarantine TOGETHER with the virus. Smart move.

Cabin 6 by onedaymore Rated: MA [Reviews - 10] 9
Summary: Set after The Secret in S2, Dunder Mifflin Scranton embarks on a week-long retreat at a nearby campsite. Jim and Pam are forced to share a cabin, as well as dealing with the consequences of Jim's confession that he 'used to' have a crush on her. What'll happen?

Also, after John Krasinski got his muscles (I use the word 'got' lightly, since there was clearly a very long and rigorous process involved that I completely respect), he made a joke saying that he also had muscles on The Office. I know this wouldn't have been the case, but part of me likes to think this is canon, if you get what I mean :)

You may think you're bad at writing but you're not! It's a cute setup. I especially like the changes of perspective; I think they helped flesh out how the characters are doing. I'd love to see more!

Summary: Past Featured Story

Jim returns to Scranton from Stamford in a world where Karen doesn't exist. Pam wants to pick up where they left off on Casino Night but Jim tells her he's done all the pursuing so far, and he'd like be pursued (read: seduced). "Give me a reason to come back."

Inspired by the Taylor Swift song "I Think He Knows".

I mean, I think at this point he knows what she wants and what he wants, so he might feel comfortable saying that--because the end isn't in doubt anymore, just the path. And that means he can relax and tease her, as he does once they're together in the show too.

Huh, those are two worlds I would not have thought of colliding, and you know my work, I combine odd things. So thank you for this! It was very apropos and thought-provoking.

Author's Response: Thank you, Comfect, I'm glad you appreciated this! I like to mix weird things as well, and Clarke is one of my favorite authors, so... it had to happen :)

Summary:

Jim reaches an important and final decision that started from a simple lunch break with Pam in the break room.

Takes places during Conflict Resolution, and is canon compliant.
