That could work nicely indeed.  I'm so glad that I read the other story.  It really fills in the background of this particular AU.  I'm looking forward to it!

Oh that one brought tears to my eyes!  This is such a fun story because of how you're working in all those little canon elements into the AU.  I can't wait to find out what new twist you'll be coming up with!

I love how you told the story of the pregnancy scare in the letter format.  It was just the right amount of insider knowledge and confession.

I continue to be awed and amazed at how neatly you're fitting in the events from the show into this alternate universe.  It all makes complete and total sense, too!  I liked the mention of Jim going to therapy.  It really does seem like something that he needed and that helped a lot.  I'm thoroughly enjoying this!

Wow.  Almost up to the end of new episodes in this fantastic AU.  I can't wait to see what you do after that!  You continue to weave the events of the series in such an unexpected and believable way.  And I really like how you suggested the rest of the items in the envelop without feeling the need to actually delineate them.  Nice growth.

Oh I remember this one!  It took a while (hee!) to figure out they were at Pam's house but yay - this is such a fun concept that I'm glad you're continuing.  I think all couples go through the we-need-to-stay-in-and-save-money phase so that was a nice touch.  And I especially liked how you compared the departure of the film crew to school being out.

Wow.  I'm a bit stunned by those pictures to remember what I was going to write about the actual chapter!

Something along the lines of believable fight and nice to see Jim's dad presented in less than favorable light than the usual fic cliches and I can remember driving home in those conditions and...*shudder*  Seriously.  Scarred for life after seeing that statue!

As lovely and sweet and charming as I found this chapter, I think my favorite part was the throwaway line that if Angela had been counting...  Hee!

Whoa.  That was so powerful.  I think it's a lot of true insight into the character of Ryan, too.  And also the phrase "a little sliver of before" is sublime.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! He's actually (imo) one of the most realistically complex characters on the show since, before this season, he didn't really get any character arches, so it's wonderful to hear that I somewhat pulled it off.

Summary:

It's a "12 Days of Christmas"-theme for this year's party...but the five gold rings aren't appetizers.

Hee!  Love the little bit you added on at the end there.  I'm excited that you finished this thing and I haven't even gotten to start yet.  Yay for lis-fic for me!

Author's Response: Like a belated Christmas present! I forgot that I added that after you read the first draft. I thought it ended on too much of a down-beat, and if Kelly was going to come in guns a-blazin', it might as well be a tiny cliff-hanger. Glad you're finally getting a chance to read it!

Holy cow.  So much happened in this chapter I can barely process it all.  I mean, besides Angela being knocked up (!!!) you had Pam telling the camera man not to follow and Jim clearly loosing an important small present and Kevin being awesome and Kelly running off at the mouth and wow.  You need to write more ensemble pieces.  You've really got everyone's voice down pat.

Author's Response: It's been fun writing for all of them. Ensemble pieces are harder, though, and I'm very, very lazy.  Hee. Yes, this was the "rising action" chapter, if I recall my literature class terminology correctly. And Kevin is always awesome- we're just lucky to capture part of it. Thank you!!

Turtle bowls!  HA!  And here I was thinking it was just another malpropism.  Nice.  And I love how Jim used his powers for good for a change.  That was simply beautiful.  I'm loving how real this all feels.  I truly could see them filming any or all of this action!

I haven't decided yet if you're going to end up having Kelly find Pam's present in Jim's coat and think it's hers.  Or if you're going to have Darryl working for Jim to find out if Pam would like the earrings he told her were for Kelly.  Either way (or a third one I'm too dense to guess), I predict hilarity!

Author's Response: Jim does have Dwight-powers, doesn't he? I still think some of the unseen season 4 might have been Jim and Pam trying to get Angela and Dwight back together, so this was sort of my nod toward that.  Hmmm, no comment on your speculation for the final chapter, although I do appreciate that you think hilarity will ensure. Thanks, babe!

SQUEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem.  That was more wonderful than I could have possibly predicted.  Everything, from Phyllis's bid to take over the PPC to the big reveal was just so perfect.  Yay!

Author's Response: Thank you!! I wanted a nice, fluffy ending. And if you count the Schrute's wedding rings, Pam's engagement ring, and Kelly's earrings, whaddya get? Five gold rings. I'm so clever I could vomit. Hee. I'm glad you enjoyed- thank you!

For some reason it really fits that Pam would be a winter person.  I love that she was the only one that shared Michael's happiness at the first snow fall.  Those two have an odd but real connection.

The amazing thing is the this Halpert family reminds me of both my in-laws and my extended maternal family reunions.  It's vibrant and fun and I love it!  Plus, Larissa is awesome!  Forget about fanon favorite Jonathon, she's my gal!

So intense.  Pam's claustrophobia was contagious.  And the quiet room with Jonathon on the piano and little Jess coloring:  magical.  I'm worry for Pam's train of thought though...

The phrase, "the quiet secrets he hadn’t even gotten around to telling himself" is simply amazing.  It encapsulates perfectly everything that Jim felt and imagined in that one moment.  Pristine.  As much as I loved Larissa staring him down until he paid attention, the second half of this chapter was just fantastic.

Oh yay!  I'm so proud of Pam for actually telling Jim the truth and not hiding behind falsely-proud silence.  Nice twist that Jim and Anne weren't really the be all and end all but rather just a run-of-the-mill high school relationship.

That was perfect.  I actually chortled at the phrase "that one time she tried to make bread."  HA!  So much packed into such a throwaway line!  I must say that I actually made myself a Punk Rock Barbie out of my My First Barbie when I was about 10.  And also, since I have a 2 year old, I've seen the Rudolph movie far too many times this month.  And I also don't understand why he would bother to hang out with those jerks after they were such dickweeds to him for his whole life.  His own dad!  And effing Santa, too!  Bastages.

Author's Response: I love writing lines that have the possibility of a whole fic behind them and I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had a "War Amputee Barbie" when my dog chewed the hand off one of mine. She had a tinfoil and tape cast and everything. I actually just realized that I didn't see Rudolph at all this year :( But yeah, I guess it's one of things that since you were introduced to it as a kid, most people just don't question it. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Oh man it was all Jan!  What a great twist.  Love it.  The resolutions were so beautifully in character that if I tried to name a favorite, I'd have to list them all.  And the Michael-Dwight-Jim interplay at the beginning was spot on!

Author's Response:

Heehee -- Jan is pulling the strings from the condo!  I had fun with that, too.  I'm so glad you liked the resolutions.  I have to say, for the most part they just flowed out; I love the fics that practically write themselves. ;)

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, belsum!!
