Wow.  So terribly sad and yet I can totally see Angela's stubbornness leading her down this path.  She's her own worst enemy.

Author's Response: Yeah, she has got a mean stubborn streak. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

That's gorgeous!  Such a perfect synopsis of their relationship - all in colors.  And the card at work?  BWAHAHAH!!!  I could see that being done on the show!

Author's Response:

Oh, thanks! I forgot that I hadn't sent this to you, yet.

If they did it on the show, I think we'd see the HUGE bouquet delivery, Pam reading the card, and just smiling her little face off at Jim. Cut to Jim's TH, "Take that, Mrs. Vance Refrigeration."  Heh.

Oh yeah.  I'm all about yelling at Stupid!Weak!Pam.  Heh.  But dang.  I thought you said that Jim was going to figure some things out like three chapters ago?  Hee!

Gah!  Poor Jim.  I hate seeing him being used like this but again...it's so in character for Pam to do it.  The boy's only got so much willpower and then it's gone.

Ooh, ouch.  Punishing Jim for her own weakness?  Unfortunately, I can believe it.  I think you've really nailed Pam's character.  She wouldn't have confronted Roy.  She would have kept it all inside her.  She's really grown a lot and character studies like this help to illustrate just how much has changed about the things that she chooses to be.

I actually really liked that chapter.  I don't think it got darker at all.  Pam finally woke the fuck up and took charge and I loved how she dealt with Roy.  No need for a scene; he doesn't deserve that much emotional energy anymore.

This chapter was simply gorgeous.  From the constant feeling of change to the simple declaration of believe at the end.  This phrase really grabbed me:  laughing inside or crying inside or maybe just breathing a little bit inside

You were right to keep it quiet.  I love the mood of this chapter.  Again with the amazing insights like, "inside of the pool of him".  Gorgeous!

How could she not indeed?

Man, Ryan's such a douche!  Though honestly I bet he wouldn't have cared enough to say anything if Jim hadn't mentioned it first.

What would you have to apologize for?  That was lovely!

Reviewer: belsum Signed

I love how "out there inside of that" both contradicts itself and yet makes perfect sense!

They were always trading their calm, handing it off from one to the other and back again - it's so brilliantly true!

I was going to copy a few other sentences when I realized this was one of *those* chapters where every phrase is just so perfect and right and each simile, each metaphor, every comparison points out exactly the nature of things and why it all makes so much sense.  There was a dream-like quality to this chapter, like I was viewing it all through a gauzy curtain or a soft-focus lense.

Summary:

When everything reminds you of the past, it is best to embrace it.

One kitchen will never not be funny.  Yay!  I'm excited for the final few chapters that I haven't seen yet.

Author's Response:

You reviewed this 12 years ago and I never responded (there's a page in your MTT profile that shows how many reviews you have and how many you haven't responded to. I had 9 I never answered, and this is one of them).

So, thanks. HAHAHA. I hope you're having a great visit to your new office. :)

Ooh, a coupla new courts!  I still love this litany.  It's so in character for Pam to turn their little challenge to 11.

Author's Response:

You reviewed this on February 19, 2008.  Wow. WOW.

I really love how seamlessly these all fit together.  The transition from "Lost" to "Rescue" was particularly smooth.  It would be tough to recognize they were prompts!

Author's Response: Oh, thanks! I had a hard time with that, because obviously they were prompts and I could never be exactly sure what was coming next.

One thing that I really appreciate is how thoroughly you work the prompts into the story.  It's not just a lost grocery list, Pam looking at the sky, or powering down for the night.  You really explore all the possible meanings for them and ramifications.

Author's Response: Oh, thanks! With the exception of the horrible "entourage" chapter (which I think improved on re-writes but was still a pain), I did try to slip the word in as much as possible beyond whatever my immediate idea was for that section. Sort of to subliminally reinforce the idea, I guess.

Awwww.

And yay!  You did such a fantastic job with this!

Author's Response: Thank you! It was fun. Sort of difficult, but fun!  I very much appreciate all of your help, too.

I really like the back story you've given Karen.  That was a great segment and now I'm completely and totally hooked.  Can't wait to find out what her friend advised her to do!

I really like how kindly and realistically you're treating Karen's character.  She is a smart, cool broad and this is a helluva thing.  It's nice to see her affected by something as small as where a car is parked.  I'm looking forward to the final confrontation.

Shut down!  And after that sweetness with the hand-holding.  I love how something so junior high can be so major for them.  And you continue to rock the IM conversations.  YAY!

Oh my fucking god.  Of course it's Pam!  Argh!

Still, I continue to like how you're portraying Karen.  And giving her the Angel and Demon friends is a nice touch.

Damn.  That was a helluva climax.  What an intense confrontation!  Karen's a crazy broad for forcing the issue like that but part of me understands why she would do it.  I'm just glad that neither Pam nor Jim followed standard practices and used it as an excuse to run.

PB&J and American Idol?  That sounds like a perfect first date for them!  Their wrestling on the floor was also absolutely in character and the logical progression of their flirting now that they could actually move forward with it.
