Wha---? I literally ended this chapter with my jaw HANGing open, ma'am.

I love this. Their dynamic is so good and the easy switch from teasing to serious is THEM. I can hear it entirely.

Also. "This is me trying." Okay, ma'am. I see you...

Oh, Sprinkles. I love where this is going.
This line makes me swoony a bit. Just the imagery is beautiful and simple and THEM.
"Neither of them moved. The look between them deepened, and she had that falling sensation again."

And then THIS! Damn, Pam. Get it.
"She drew back and whispered with a little smile, “Get ready to be seduced”."

And, of course, I LOVE that you put the focus of this chapter on the girl friendship. LOVE it so much. I can't wait for more.

I will die every single time I read this. '“Now, we’re going to text these to Jim and get his opinion,” said Isabel, as if that was a logical next step.'

I love this ENTIRE chapter, but that ending... That ending is absolutely THEM. I can't see where this goes!!

My teetotaler grandmother used to say “gin lips tell the devil’s truth” and I guess now I know what she meant... So here’s how this went...
Little Bird: Someone’s writing a fic where Austin Jam have a threesome.
Me: Did you tell this person about AO3?
Little Bird: Well, it’s Big Tuna and the third is Danny...
Me: Oh well now I’m intrigued and fully support this idea because her stuff is amazing.
Me (after reading): We will now pray to Big Tuna as our patron saint of Women Getting What They Want in the World. We will erect a statue in her honor. Scorned women will cry to Her for retribution and our daughters will sing songs of praise to Her when their partners give foot rubs and pour wine for no reason at all. We will give free tampons in her honor and... (I could keep going but I think you get it.)

I mean. It’s just. so. freaking. good.

Look 2020 has brought A LOT of disappointments. A drop of water doing Something to me? Not even slightly a disappointment. I’ve thought about that little drop off water AND DANNY BITING HIS OWN FINGER too many times today. I’m not sure I’m prepared for what Chapter Two is going to do for me. Let me lie down while I wait for it...

Author's Response: That little bird told me you were in support of this idea and I’m glad I delivered! If my threesome fic can be a bright spot in 2020 for you, I can consider the year a success. Thank you so much! (Also I thought about that water drop and the pinky bite nonstop, too 🥵)

Okay ma’am! With your “Me? Write smut? I couldn’t!” And then whip this out... I see you!!!
Seriously, you handled every aspect of this story with such care and thoughtfulness PLUS made it sexy as hell. My absolute favorite moment was Pam trying to rip open Jim’s shirt (go on, Pam!) and then the both of them laughing cause she isn’t strong enough. I love love love when these smutty sexy times are infused with giggles and teasing and two people inherently knowing what their partner wants and needs! You hit it on all fronts, girl. Now...when do we get more??? 😁

Author's Response: Ahhh thank you so much! Your review made me laugh out loud. What can I say, I was inspired. :) Not sure when more will come because I'm starting school in a few days, but I'm not leaving, I promise!

Oh, Sprinkles. This is one of my favorites and you did it So Much Justice.

The ENTIRE bit that starts with "he hoped she was happy" was *chef's kiss. Because THAT is 100% a Jim way of looking at the world.

"Later, when the bottle starts to give him some advice" Man that's a great line!

I love their whole exchange on the phone; you do such an amazing job of getting to the heart of the matter without sacrificing the story. I love it.

And, listen, that moment - in the kitchen - aye aye aye. But I'm also really in love with that part right before they go to the bedroom. You beautifully capture that vulnerability they have with one another without it feeling forced or contrived or taking us out of the flow. I just love it so much.

SpRiNkLeS... I think I blacked out in the bedroom scene. It was too much for me to handle in every single right way.
I want to taste you (oh my god)
The walls aren't think (Oh My God)
That Position (OH MY GODDDD!!!!!)

You hit a major homerun with this one and capped it off perfectly with that last line. Whew! I love it, ma'am.

Death by cardigan? Yes, please. Look, I can't remember who said it, but they were right. It now seems so obvious to write THIS cardigan about THAT cardigan, but even I had ever thought about it, there's no way anyone could have ever at all in a million years done it the justice you did here.

And you have this incredibly perfect distinct way of writing with such richness, but it's also so concise that it's easy to be IN the moment in your stuff.

When I tell you I gasped at "when it saw the light of day again..." I mean. It was a dramatic, pearl clutching gasp. I just love the way we get so much history and how TRULY realistic her insecurities and his regrets still are.

"Pam I was always going to come back to you" It's fine. I'm sobbing. But it's fine. All fine...

The beauty here is that I've read it three times. And each time I find something new and wonderful that makes me just fall in love or crack apart or something. On this read it was that moment where it shifts from when he might tease her or playful to stating "Today was for..." And there you go again. Making the smuts all full of feelings in just the right ways.

That last line... that last line is just... why did you set out to kill me with a cardigan? God I love this and will read it too many times to admit...

Author's Response: girl c’mere lemme murder you with this sweater (wow what a weird response, I’m keeping it)

Reviewer: Duchess Cupcake Signed 1
Date: September 25, 2020 Title: Chapter 3: last great american dynasty

Oh! I didn't know we were going to include prologues of our twenty chapter opus that we're secretly working on? Good for you! ;) But in all seriousness, that's what I want from this. Because it is SO FREAKING GOOD.

"The lethal kind" I cackled!

These characters are so perfectly written, just like we would expect them in canon but placed in this new world. Pam as a Philadelphia socialite and Jim as a Mad Man is so perfect and lovely and realistic. Fantastically written for the stereotypes of the time without them feeling even a little like stereotypes!

That dress. Wow. That. Dress. And this little gem about Jim's hair, "her fingers ached to run through it" I'm just gonna swoon by myself over here, okay?

Sprinkles. A Go Getter Pam, the one who says and takes what she wants, is a Pam I will always be here for. And I love that they both have a little of that naughty side. Mentioning Pam's former dalliances and saying (hi, this line kills me on every reread) 'women liked Jim and he like women.' Okaaaaayyyyy? Come on. These two lovebirds are about to get naughty on the couch and fragile flowers need not apply here.

But with the sneaking away and the dim lights and the way you describe them undressing (and I keep thinking of all of those windows) it can truly be described as sensual. In all the best ways.

"Do you want more, or do you just wanna fuck?" Sprinkles you need to go sit down and... think about what you did.

Oh. My. God. "Patience, Miss Beesly." I'm dead. I'm dead, I've died, and this fic is what's waiting for me.

When this started to end, I YELLED at my phone. I'm not proud of it. I'm not saying it was mature. But I'm not saying I'd do anything any different. That's... that's where you're leaving us?

Oh it's the prologue, you say? To another 20-something chapter WIP you have going? Cause you wouldn't do your friends dirty like that, right? Right? Sprinkles. Right?

I am so lowkey obsessed with how you gave us the girlfriendship angle here. There's so much about the Pam and Isabel dynamic that is just perfection here.

And did I gasp? Yes. I literally gasped.

The reunion is poetic and almost haunting and imagery of the vase?! Fine, fine. Do this to me in the middle of what is supposed to be gratuitous smut. Make me feel all sorts of feelings. It's fine...

"I know," Isabel murmurs. "It's okay. You're okay." >>> This is so perfect.

There's so much here - with the two of them - that is exactly in character and entirely believable if we had been blessed with this particular turn of events.

All the smut is just so good, but (I know I said this already but it MUST be repeated) it can be hard to capture emotional depth and desperation of needy, 'sloppy' sex. You make it look so easy because the writing here is just...flawless.

And here we are back with the vase. OMG. So incredibly good.

Really, this whole fic is a gift to this song and this fandom. We don't deserve you.

Author's Response: DC, I don’t deserve you and this lovely review. Thank you so much. I had so much fun with Isabel here & I’m glad you felt the dynamic. Your thoughts on the smut mean the world to me, mostly because attempting to write it still absolutely terrifies me, so it’s incredibly gratifying to hear that it wasn’t a complete disaster!

You know what? It's just not fair that you make me feel so many feelings about some accessories. A pair of shoes and a tie. Shameless.

Erin made everyone dance the Cupid Shuffle. Four times. God, that's perfect.

Hey but also can you write something where Celine Dion officiates their wedding? Cause I feel like only you could do justice to that...

"No kinks...just us." You know what? Who gave you the right?!

"Will you keep the heels on?" Who. Gave. You. The. Right?!

Oh, Coley. You have a real talent for this, you know? You beautifully blend the emotion and the smutiness and the banter and the inside jokes in a way that is so incredibly THEM and true to their character. But they feel even more realistic and accessible when you write them.

Okay, this is probably, definitely, absolutely one of my favorite things you've ever written. The way you write family dynamics - here just ABOUT the family dynamics - is clever and sophisticated. Every time you flesh out these characters for us, it is a treat. And I SEE your characterization when I watch the show. Perfection. Every time.

Okay, let's get into this...

I really didn't expect him to show up. And when he did, looking like that...I just...

And the teasing on the swing. I don't know how to gush over that without sounding like a crazy person. But it is such brilliant simplicity and very realistic. You are a genius with these moments.

Oh. My. God. The sex swing joke and I'm DEAD.

The entire scene in the treehouse was *chef's kiss* perfection. Every bit of it. The shameless "just fuck me" and the lovemaking (I cried!) and... oh, and then Pam's conciliation but because, yeah, she's still emotional about her parents. It's all so wonderful.

Seriously, though. How do you do this? How do you make me feel all these things for these fake people? Please don't ever stop, okay?

Listen. I just…I don’t have enough words for how this hits so hard. Every scene so perfectly and simply accurate. The full circle (love that this is a reflection but you didn’t hold back on ANY of the emotions) of it all, Pam getting to tell her little sister the reality of her own love story, is too perfect.
So many moments were just fantastic. But how…how did you so precisely capture season 2’s Pam? The one that knows but denies and hides and deflects and justifies and convinces and…How? How do you do all of this magic with words that you do?
I don’t know what this fandom did to deserve you writing THIS fic to THIS song, but I’m not ever going to turn it down. Ever.

My favorite part of taking a brief hiatus from this fandom is coming back to these gifts just waiting for me to discover.
First of all, I have Big Appreciation for Michael’s love for Beyone, Taylor, and Dolly in this chapter. Second, every single TS reference was fantastic and perfect.
But the Jim and Pam moments…man, you are very good at what you do. You have this way of hitting EVERY character on the head with one line. Angela’s bleach comment, Phyllis sharing her and Bob’s fantasies, Oscar’s condescending tone, the description of Dwight collecting the watches. All so perfect.
And, god, how do you make a kissing session by vending machines so sexy?! So rude…
I’m so thrilled that you wrote this gem.
