I'm enjoying it! I think Jim and Pam stopping to help someone is in canon with their character, especially together.
I also liked hearing the reactions of each coworker as they left the office.
Three whole days of nothing but Jim and Pam?! Yes! Watch out, Roy....

Author's Response: yay! So happy you liked what I did here. Thanks so much. I just posted chapter 2...

What a fun chapter! I like that things are slowly building up and we have Penny and Jim's mom to give these two a push (or shove) in the right direction! Having each visitor come to the door to interact with J&P is a great way to see the contrast of kindness and good character with, well,Roy. I'm hoping Pam will start to acknowledge it and make the right choice! :)
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thank you! And it was fun for me to write. Glad you enjoyed the visitors. I just posted chapter 3. Hope to see you back here soon.

I've finally had the opportunity to catch up on this one!
Dwight and his tractor, interrupting everything and saving the day! Sweet that he's looking out for Pam. Their friendship is one of my favorites.
I love how you bookended your story with Stella and Jerry. Incredibly romantic!
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love Pam and Dwight too😊 I really appreciate the kind review.

I like that Pam goes to the roof to find calm, comfort and perspective. And that it finds her there, too! (Thank you, Phyllis! )
Thanks for writing!
(And, oh, your poor aunt! I hope she finds the same! )

Author's Response: Thank you! I love the way you worded this with Pam finding perspective (& it finding her too) - what a lovely way to summarize it.

I have my fingers crossed that my aunt’s wedding goes much more smoothly this time, & this whole postponed thing is the worst of it...

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Oh, where to begin?! I just loved this! Angst turned fluff is always my favorite! The teapot shattering, Jim running to help and not knowing how, her sobbing (me tearing up!) all these big feelings make for such a nice contrast to the ending. You wrote Dwight and Michael so well with so few words - nice job. I love that they are on Pam's team (and Jim's). That Dwight... he's smarter than you think!
I'll admit that it was nice to not have to deal with Karen and the other characters here. Focusing on these four was just right.
As you can tell, I enjoyed it!
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thanks so much!

I’m glad you liked it. I love including Dwight and Michael in particular in these things. They really bring so much of the comic relief. Plus, they’re so fun to write. It’s really nice to hear they’re appreciated!

But they're off the boat and nothing has been resolved yet, so I can't wait to see what happens next!

Another direction would have been for her to take that ring and shove it... well, never mind...
I've always had a hard time relating to Pam in this scene with her level of self control (or self esteem). It would have been a breaking point for me, so I'm excited to see where you take this! I forget to consider that the doc crew is filming and how that adds another element to their behavior and choices (and that there is so much we never see). Glad you brought that up here with Pam's reaction.
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response:

... and shove it up your butt?

Stanley's great, I loved that gag.

Thanks for your feedback!

I always thought it had to be especially humiliating in scenes like this where it could theoretically end up on national television at some point in the future. I'm glad you like where I'm headed with this, and I hope not to disappoint!

Reviewer: HonestAndCourageous Signed 1

Came back to catch up on this one and I'm rewarded with 3 new chapters!
The dialogue between Jim and Pam flows nicely and is in character.
I'm surprised how much more I like a quiet, understanding break up between Roy and Pam than the tumultuous, jerk face break up... puts them on the same page being honest with themselves and each other that it's not really working and they both want something different.
And now that Roy is out of the picture, what's next?!
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response:

I hope to make that 4 if I have anything to say. An hour until bedtime and I'm almost done the next one!

Thanks, I always doubt the dialogue when I'm reading it back, so it's nice to have this affirmed.

I'm glad you liked the breakup, I was worried it wouldn't live up to the expectations I set in the first chapter.

We'll have to wait and see what the picture shapes up to be, stay tuned!

You're welcome, and thank you for reviewing!

Dernhelm! I love this! Not at all how I picture Scranton, but I really like the thought of them having this time together and how he makes use of it...
This was one of my favorite moments:
"Pam looked at the window to try to notice an empty and dark platform. When she did see it, she always looked at him, as if she shared some secret knowledge with him; this look made his heart swell. " Yes. So bittersweet.
I've always thought that if Roy had really supported and loved Pam well that Jim wouldn't have pursued her for long, if at all, and she would not have needed him so much.
I'm really looking forward to seeing where you go with this! Thank you for writing!

Author's Response:

Thank you, HonestAndCourageous, for your lovely review!

I like the idea that Jim and Pam need each other, and it's not only because Roy treated Pam poorly, but because they could make each other better persons. Or it's just my vision of perfect relationships goals :)

By the way, the abandoned metro station is real. Every time I'm in that part of the metro, I try so see it :))

Reviewer: HonestAndCourageous Signed 1

Oh, Pam. Don't settle. Her spiraling thoughts at the end of this chapter are so heartbreaking.
On another note, I loved the imagery that you've created placing them in another country and culture.
Also, love the backstory on Ma Anderson. It gives us a much better understanding of why Roy is the way he is and how out of place Pam already feels in his family...
Looking forward to some hope for Pam!
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, H&C! I'm glad that you enjoyed this story.

I was thinking a lot about Pam and Roy's relationship and I came to conclusion, that one of the things, why they were together for so long, was the involvement of the members of both families (the traditions still have a strong influence here, especially in the countryside). So, maybe, they just didn't have another choice than to stick together... did they?

Reviewer: HonestAndCourageous Signed 1
Date: May 07, 2020 Title: Chapter 3: Break my chest not knowing the measure

I love that you included their special moment of silently acknowledging the ghost station here with Jim acknowledging what is about to happen, the train slowing to a halt, her being carried away by the crowd, so much lost because:
Jim relied so much on 'maybe,' 'perhaps,' obscure miracles, and lucky chances that he basically did nothing to make them come true. And now it was too late.
I also like that he had the revelation that in some ways, he has failed Pam just like Roy. So many strong feelings.
I would have thrown myself into the pit of despair at the end of this chapter had it not been for the humor in him calling "Pain in the Ass" instead of Pam!
Thanks for saving me and for writing!

Author's Response:

Oh, I'm glad that you had some laugh and I'm sorry that this story almost made you fall into despair :(

I have many feelings about first seasons Jim and I think that he needed a good push to reconsider his feelings and his actions towards Pam. Hope, that would work out well!

Reviewer: HonestAndCourageous Signed 1

I like that she's listened to her friend's advice and is making the changes in her life that she wants, even if they are indirect, like botching her Visa application or direct, like handing back that ring and slapping Roy out of her life!
Heartbreaking that Roy wasn't understanding, comforting or willing to wait for Pam... and she was just looking for any scrap of love he had to offer her. Any reason to stay. I'm glad it propelled her to make those big changes.
Like Jim, I'm also wondering what her next step will be!
Thanks for writing!

Thank you for reading and reviewing!

So excited that you're writing this!
This is a refreshing take on Beach Games
because not only is Karen absent, but a few of the other coworkers are "seeing " Pam, being kind and helping her out. (Especially Jim!) A much better day for her!
I thought it was very realistic that Pam would not have chosen to sit next to Jim on the bus, good call.
And finally, love your description of Pam enjoying herself in the sun... that orange glow beneath her eyelids- describes it perfectly! You're making me miss the beach myself! ;)
Thanks for writing!

You've got everyone's character just right here - I'm impressed! The sumo wrestling scene dialogue between everyone is probably my favorite part of this chapter because of the dialogue. I could picture it all perfectly in my head. I much prefer this Beach Day to the one on the show!
And Jim and Pam on the beach - what you wrote was what I hoped for in the tv series.
I'm SO GLAD Karen couldn't make it!!!
And Pam has to win this next match, knock him off feet! I'm on team Pam! (But I wouldn't mind being on team Jim either)

Author's Response: Thank you! So cool you're enjoying this! And yes--Andy! I know the doc crew would try to stay out of the way of what their subjects did, but this seemed really mean to me. I think they were actually getting a kick out of it. Anyway, I thought I'd use this opportunity to help him out. I appreciate the great review. Chapter 4 is up now!

The dialogue between Jim, Andy and Dwight was hilarious and very in character- I really enjoyed that part!
I like that there was little bit of conflict before things fell into place with Jim and Pam's relationship.
I think it was also right for Jim to end things with Karen before "moving on" with Pam. They were a couple that *mostly* tried to do the right thing by others, so this seems in character as well.
Great story! Putting this on my bookshelf!
Thanks for writing!

Author's Response: Thank you! You are too kind! And any dialogue compliments are the way to my heart. So glad you're enjoying this.

Fancy New Halpert in this chapter! I think with so many live stories we get used to the back and forth, will they won't they that a clear, swift and direct declaration of someone's feelings can be so refreshing (in real life, too!).
Also great contrast with the beginning of this chapter so dreary and down to the ending being so hopeful, even making the rain seem like a good thing!
Inspiring to see two characters that I love going after their dreams (despite the Roys of life) and each other.
