Ugh this is so so good! I wish it had all gone like this. I love this Jim. He's mouthy with Roy and I'm here for it.

"Jim is saying too much and Roy isn’t saying enough." This line though! I love this insight into both their characters. In fact all of Pam's inner monologue is spot on.

Please PLEASE continue this! I can't wait to see Roy's reaction!

Author's Response: Thanks Bored!

I’m so here for mouthy Jim too. He’s a little more fun than docile, placid Jim.
Chapter 2 should be up sometime soon!

This is delightful and I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Full disclosure I added that line late, I had it mostly written and then remembered her ring and it would be messed up to wear it during all of this XD So then it was a fierce internal debate of what to write and when to write it but I’m glad the result works! Thanks for reading!

I really, really love this! This is my favorite track on the album so...

"She leaves him with it, she leaves him in it alone, this relationship with her he’s invented in his mind. He backs away, taking all his love out into the hallway with him." This is a PERFECT use of this line.

I also love that we got to see Roy's thoughts because no one ever does that. And then Karen's...this was just wonderfully done.

Author's Response:

I think after listening to it on repeat a good 600 times while writing this it may just be my favorite off the album too...

Ooooh, I really, really like this. I think the idea that they both tried to reach each other before the Merger but stalled out is so on point and you wrote that beautifully.

"She threw the post-it note with his address in her purple ink handwriting out the window, watching it fly down over the town below." --- I mean, that is exactly what she would do.

"Like it’s still a gazillion pieces of tiny glass, but at least she can breathe for a second without being stabbed in gut-wrenching pain." Love this!

Jenna. JENNA.

This is so good and so HOT. Wow. You just captured that angry-meets-turned-on-Jim so much. I always knew that seeing her go back to Roy pissed him off more than anything we had seen but this just brought it full circle and then to end it like that??

The hallway against the door was just so so good and the the ending...I mean, wow. 😍

And this concludes my rather incoherent review.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, bored. You’re far too kind. It’s my headcanon that Jim was absolutely furious about her going back to Roy. I really leant into his being a dick about it side here... I’m glad the ending worked considering how terrifying I find it to try and write/publish anything remotely smut related!

BT, you are so incredibly clever and creative. Your chapters have just floored me in how you have taken tricky songs and completely wrapped them up in Jam. I just love it so much.

“I wish you would.” Oh Lord, this is perfect.

“Not with the way his voice wrapped around just underwear like warm honey, all slow and thick. “ Lovely, lovely, lovely

“Leave her alone, Dwight.” GOD this is the Jim we deserved.

Thumbhead. *Smirk*

“Beneath the desk, his leg jiggled. He was nervous.” Love this little detail.

I love love love the symbolism of them doing it on top of Roy’s scattered paperwork. So satisfying. I mean, the entire was satisfying and so perfectly done. I just love your writing so much.

Jenna.

This is incredibly rude.

There is just so much to love about this chapter. While I appreciate the point they were making on the show, the distinction that he was not anything like Roy, that he trusted her, I REALLY like that you have him driving up there anyway. Not out of insecure jealousy, but because he needed to be near her. This is beautifully played out here and I love it so much.

Then. THEN. You have drunk being all adorable and he being all Jim and I died a little. And I'm going to quote my favorite two lines again because I can:

“I’ll make it worth it,” his tone has that husky richness that comes when he’s in the mood. It has anticipation unfurling in her abdomen like a sunflower greeting the dawn. --Stop. Just STOP. This is the Jim we all deserve.

"She wraps her hand around his base because he’s long and lean and there’s only so much of him that’s ever going to fit in her throat and that’s on physics." And THAT is one of my fave lines ever.

You know how I feel about your writing and this is just all sorts of perfect. I can't think of a better finishing chapter for our little project.

Oh BT. This chapter KILLED me in the most delightful of ways. The premise was a fantastic way to use this song. The whole flirting at the bar was just absolutely perfect. I knew it was Pam which made it all the hotter. The le petit mort convo was just so so hot and the "Don't call me baby"...I mean, I'm just-

I love how you laced the lyrics in there flawlessly. The end in the car was just SO good omg.

Ugh, you have put us (just me, actually) to shame, you are so good at this. Teach me your ways, seriously.

Oh DC. This is *exactly* how I see their married, living in Austin relationship playing out. You have captured it FLAWLESSLY with all the love and desire and heat it deserves.

Her pictures. Her. Pictures. I could not possibly love that more.

I know I said this already but the Harvey and Donna reference made my day and then Jim being all hot and adorable and having to leave. God, DC you are just so good at this.

THEN the sex at the end was perfect. I just...ugh so perfect.

Let's just all agree that you are absolutely brilliant at writing and we should all just go home at this point, okay?

Seriously Coley, this ranks up there as one of my favorite things from you which is saying A LOT.

I just love love love the way you write Jim and this feels like the perfect fit into what was happening on screen. We never really got to see her process her parents divorce but this is a perfect progression of what we saw. Also, I use the word perfect a lot when I discuss your writing so you will have to get used to it.

"It was Jim, grinning widely from underneath his black baseball hat, one hand holding his phone to his ear, the other tucked casually into the back pocket of his jeans as he winked at her." Oh hi, this is the Jim that lives rent free in my mind.

Mmm and I love over-protective new-dad-Jim all worried about her.

The rest I've already expressed to you but I will will recap here regardless:

the sex swing references and putting it on the registry -- I love you

“Oh I don’t care that he slept there. It’s that he got to fuc—“ -- perfect line is perfect

Lovemaking vs. fucking -- It's possible I love you even more for this.

And then you absolutely kill me with “You can’t divorce me.”

I think it was fate that two of your chapters were back to back and this was- what's the word I'm looking for?- oh yeah, perfect.

BT first of all, how dare you?

This is so wonderful in so many ways, where to begin...

"Maybe Peter Pan and Wendy, except he was the one who grew up and left." ---PERFECT use of lyrics

I love that you had her throw it in frustration and leave it there. It is so in character for her and I love it. I mean honestly the entire premise of this is brilliant with the song tie-ins and her sweater but it's you so I can't say that I'm surprised. ;)

Then. THEN. Their convo was perfect and I'll say it again: you are so very good at this smut writing thing. I can't WAIT to see your other chapters!

How are you so good at this though? There are so many fantastic lines from this, I can't even cover them all. "It’s filed under “NEVER CALL THIS NUMBER”. --when I say I laughed

"They spoke...about nothing, but it felt like everything." I love love love this. That is so them.

"His lips to her ear, he whispered, “Is it always like this, for you?”" GOD. I mean, the perfect line.

Her telling him that she loves him and the stop stalling line, ugh. Then I hope the walls are thick...I died.

You kicked us off in an amazing, AMAZING way.
