I love how you're able to find Pam and Jim even without voices. It seems like a difficult task but you're handling it really well. I love the detail about her not being able to remember the name of the actress.

Author's Response: Yeah Roy does not fair well in my story here. I’m glad to hear I’m doing okay in this world without speaking. I’m totally a dialogue person when I write so it’s been a challenge but a fun one. And yes I thought it’d be kinda fun to leave it to the reader what actress Pam’s talking about.

So, this was absolutely gorgeous. Every bit of it was angst-tastic in the very best way. Our headcanons on exactly what went down between Jam in s9 and who was to “blame” for what seem to align so closely I felt as though I was reading my own thoughts. Beautifully written!

“She just feels so tired. Or rather, like there’s a wall around her heart--not a tall one or even a medium sized one. But there used to not be anything there, and now there’s definitely something. ”

Oof. Yes. So much this.

Then the transition from this:

“Marriage counseling hasn’t given her an instruction booklet, though, so she’s stuck worrying that they’re not only telling different versions of the same story but that they’re telling different stories all together.”

To this:

“It’s not rainbows and sunshine all the time, especially not right now, but every good story has conflict. What’s more, every good story has resolution. They just have to keep working on writing it.”

Perfection. And didn’t mind that sex scene, at all.

God, poor Jim. It actually makes a fucked up kind of sense that he and Karen never actually talked about having kids or not for four years.

This was really great, I love Pam comparing the care Jim takes in shaving to the care he has always shown her.

The pacing of the scene and rhythm of the dialogue was really well done, it felt like it could be a scene from the show (not that they'd allow cameras in their bathroom!)

[“I’m surprised you noticed that.”

Jim crossed over to her and tilted her chin up for quick kiss. “I noticed you. And because I noticed you, other details got stuck in there too.”]

This was a really great line.

Author's Response: Thank you. It was fun to work on a domestic moment like this one. Espesially so early into their dating relationship. Thanks for the comments about pacing and dialogue, sometimes I worry if what I write sounds natural or not so it helps to get feedback on that. Pam's had Jim wrapped around her finger for years, it's just now he gets to enjoy it rather than hide it so we get cute moments like the noticing lines. Thanks for the review. But it was Jim who had made that beautiful present, and she couldn’t separate her love, regrets, and everything that she’d lost and never had from the teapot that sat so innocently on her table."

You know, it never really occurred to me what happened to the teapot during S3. I know we see it in later seasons, but what a great jumping point for angst to have this be such a constant source of trauma for Pam. I really like what you did with it!
