Loved this.  Felt like right for the characters and for the situation-and just loved the different take on how Karen relates to the Jim/Pam relationship.  It makes so much sense that she would fit well with both of them.  This was really fun to read :)

These were wonderful little snippets that really effectively capture a lot of emotion beautifully.  Loved them all, they seemed so spot-on for the characters and the mix of funny, wistful, sadness is perfect.

Author's Response: Thanks! I was trying to find the same balance the show does, but reveal a little more emotion. I'm glad that came across.

I have such love for Jim/Toby, and I loved the context that you set with their discussion at the beginning.  Could totally see Jim going to Toby for advice and solace and to escape his own lonliness.  And the making out against the washing machine was wonderfully hot, desperate, and fleeting.  And hot.

And oh gosh, Toby at the end??   Crushed me.  In a good way.

Author's Response: Thank you!  The thought of the two of them making out against a washing machine was too hot to pass up.  :)

Argh, I had sworn off Jim/Pam fluf, but then you wrote this--which is all kinds of wonderful, real, and heartfelt.

That said, my favorite part was actually the Jim/Karen conversation and Jim's thoughts about his excuses and the people he has hurt in his efforts to move on.  They all felt so Jim-like and so true.

A great read, as usual with your fic :)

Oh man.

This hurt in the best of ways.  Gah.  Love the way you wrote this--the quick snippets and the timeline worked really well, and I had to read the end 3 times to make sure I understood (It was perfectly clear, but I think I just didn't want to believe it).

Love that you wrote a story where things kind of go to shit, because these characters and this relationship does come with its baggage (love your emphasis on Pam's self-esteem issues here)--and it's great to see that play out even when they're together.

Author's Response: Thanks for getting it!  We don't necessarily love to see Pam this way in real (tv) life, but it's fun to play with in fic, isn't it?  We appreciate the positive feedback, especially when you can tell it's really thought through. Thanks!

Oh gosh, this was just about perfect. I think you captured and portrayed their emotions at this point perfectly. Absolutely loved Jim's uncertainty that Pam would remember his sandwich preference and his drunken desire to show that there is a girl out there that does like him. And Pam's inability to figure out the right thing to say was so Pam-like...dropping hints that she misses him without ever actually saying it out loud.

It felt so real and recognizable, and fit really well with the characters. Great to read :)

Oh, Jim :(

I really hope that Jim on the show doesn 't have this level of awareness about his (lack) of feelings for Karen, but this was a definite possibility. The way you wrote this made me feel Jim's hurt and confusion and need. Loved the part at the end where he recognized himself in Karen, but can't quite take his own advice.

Author's Response: Thanks for your thoughtful response.  :)  I'm really glad you picked up on the ending so clearly -- I had a lot of trouble with it while I was writing, so it's nice to hear that you think I got it right.  Thanks again!

Oh gosh, much love for this story. The pacing and the POV all worked really, really well. And I love the parts about how they're really holding themselves back (not Karen and not Roy) and how even Jim's feelings have morphed (how could they not??) since he told Pam he loved her. The thoughts you gave Jim felt real and true to me--really great to read :)

Author's Response: Thank you!  That's so nice to hear about the pacing because I generally feel like my writing goes too fast and doesn't allow time for tension to build.  And definitely, I absolutely agree with you about Jim's morphing feelings -- of course, I think he still loves Pam but everything's a little changed and I think it's going to take them awhile to get back to what they had.  Wow, rambling.  Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment!

Well, this is 5 million different kinds of wonderful. Conflict Resolution is such a great episode for Jim/Dwight interaction, and the thoughts that you put into Jim's head for some of their moments fit so perfectly. Loved the way you wrote Jim's realization that he is aimless outside of his love for Pam and his slow progression to doing something with Dwight's prodding.

This was so fantastic, I felt the entire thing--and I usually struggle with really "feeling" stories from Pam's POV. And at the end...I was holding my breath, and smiling a little, and I'm not gonna lie my heart's beating a little faster. And now I feel like running out of my office and finding someone to kiss. Dangerous ;)

Really love reading a scenario where Jim doesn't just run into Pam's arms when she's (finally) ready to move forward with their relationship.

And I love that you're using Pam's POV, but have her keep making mistakes and keep running in circles around the truth. I was angry at your Pam for bringing in the teapot, and then finding out that she read the letter?? I was furious! I thought you wrote their fight & the aftermath perfectly--Jim's getting some distance and Pam's bring Pam. Not such a happy combination, as we've been seeing this season.

I'm excited to see how you start to resolve this. Hope it maintains the edginess of what you've started :)

Author's Response: I hope I do too! I'm glad that people are responding well to Jim being not very nice. He's not old Jim in a lot of ways, but I was worried that people would think it was OOC. So thanks :)

Of everyone on this show, Karen breaks my heart the most. Absolutely loved all of these little snippets-they seem so Karen-y, while adding depth to her character that we can only guess at on the show.

#4 is still killing me-that she notices the problems and just waits to figure everything out and that she says "I love you" anyway because she means it-but she says it gently. All brilliant. You write Karen so beautifully--I would love love love to see some happy Jim/Karen fic. Hint, hint ;)

Author's Response: Yeah that section with Jim was so hard to come up with because I did NOT want to make her look pathetic or crazy.  I am so happy you liked this and, honestly?  There really isn't enough Karen/Jim happy fic and I would love to try to take on that task!  : )
