This picks up pre-merger and is spoiler free, a bit AU as well. I began this back in October (maybe even September), and obviously the show has deviated quite a bit from what I speculated here.
This begins with angst, but there is a great deal of fluff, steam, smut, and silly...for several, several chapters. My idea was to go beyond the happy ending, so to speak.

These two lines in particular:
"...those memories flashing relentlessly again - not images of regret, those, but rather, moments that reverently ushered in the end of a ten year relationship, marked the demise of a dream - an illusion, she realized now - that this was the man she was meant to marry."
"Startling that there had never been jinxes or paper doves or exchanged looks that could've passed as entire conversations."
...do a beautiful job of communicating how it sort of slowly and inexorably dawned on Pam that Roy wansn't going to be her happily ever after.

Post-Merger. A little angsty, a little triangular, but fear not - it doesn't end there. Um, how did I miss this before? So well done, so full of great lines.
This one, in particular: "She crashes to the ground under the weight of all the months when she could have said something. But didn’t." I thought was a perfect way of capturing some of what was (and, I think, still is) going through Pam's mind.

Jim receives a gift the day after Christmas. And then another one the next day. And again for the 10 days after. Is it a joke, or has his True Love come forward? Hooray! This is the perfect combination of adorable sweetness and steam.
Finally - I really love that you've managed to keep an element of suspense around who is sending Jim those gifts... I swear, I go back an forth between being 100% sure it's Pam and being 100% sure it's not Pam at least 2 or 3 times a chapter.
I know (from stalking the TWoP boards which they have for some reason DELETED) you've been busy, traveling, etc. and am sooo thankful you've kept this story going!!

A few light bits and pieces I'd accumulated (have written enough angst lately, thanks.) Since they were just languishing, I figured I'd resurrect Vignettes and send them out into the world. Each is a stand-alone, NOT a chapter in a work-in-progress, so feel free to jump in and out. (I'm thinking there will be 3-5 pieces, but will have to see how the mood strikes me.)

... is why I ship JAM. I can totally see him saying that.

...had me dying with laughter while my computer screen started to fog up. Excellent combination.

Oh, this is lovely, and more than a little heartbreaking. Because, really, who hasn't been there, hoping. Sigh.
Author's Response: Yeah, I tend to go back and forth between fluff and heartbreak. I can totally imagine Pam just chilling out, nursing her regrets. Let's hope she gets her butt in gear in 2007!
I am not usually a slash kind of girl... but this was fabulous. I particularly, for some reason, really loved your Angela. I could just picture her clutching desperately ast her cross, and then chewing fiercely on multiple pieces of gum.
In conclusion - best slash ever! Funny, a tiny bit of steam, and a lot of vagueness for the reader to interpret whatever way they want! Hooray.
Hey monkeybear! I know you're new around these parts - but I'm not a slash kind of girl either. And that was the whole point of this - to test the waters (for me -in a humorous way) as a kind of experiment. It was a fun challenge to take on (I kind of can't resist a good challenge) and I'm really glad you liked the result.

Not only do I like the story here (and where it seems to be going), but you did a lovely job writing it. This line in particular:
When she felt her throat constricting, she would seek out his eyes from somewhere in the office, see the look, and for a minute she could breathe again.
... along with pieces of the preceding paragraph... I think this captures really well what is going through Pam's head.
Definitely looking foward to Jim's reaction!

I was initially surprised by the inclusion of Meredith, but you made it work very well for this story. You did a great job writing Meredith (and Karen) - the whole thing really felt like it could happen... and darn it, something like this needs to happen SOON!

The rain outside is drumming on the roof of her car and she loves it, hates it, doesn’t understand what’s happening but god, it feels good to do something unexpected.Wow... wow. I really thought I was done with Jim and Pam (at least until something schmoopy happened that made me squee all over again. I have no self control.), but this? This was fantastic.
There are so many good lines, I don't even know if I can pick out one particular favorite. I'll settle for saying that the whole ending sequence - involving Jim as this wonderful, immovable weight on Pam's chest and shoulders - is really, really lovely.
And also, the whole "...maybe it took getting her to go a little bit crazy to get here..." I love. Because, really, you nailed it - so many of the best things in life require that we go just a little bit insane in order to enjoy them.
I'm going to have to read this again.
Oh, heeee, this was so good and so much fun! You captured both characters very, very well (espcially Andy's comment re: having "played Jesus once." That would totally be something that would come out of his mouth.)... and there were so many fabulous lines!
