Bio:

Okay, first of all I'm a guy-are there any others writing here?  Yes, I am of course in love with Jenna Fischer and with the fictional character she has created.  And I would totally have a beer and watch some hoops with Jim Halpert.

I've never written romantic stuff in my life; this show just brings it out of me.  My stories here are sort of little daydreams that seem somehow therapeutic to me.  You can usually count on happy endings from my stuff; plenty of heartache on the actual show.

Other stuff:  37, divorced, two kids, I live in Northern Virginia

One of my favorite fics ever...one of the great "getting into Jim's head" jobs I've ever read, and full of so many great details, and just so so so damn good in every possible way.

Summary: A somewhat bitter Pam reconciles with an unsuspecting Jim. Read: spilt liquids and borrowed clothes. Rated M as the later chapters get racier.

Pam with a smoking habit is a jarring thought, though perhaps not totally unrealistic.  Hopefully she gives up the smokes now that things seem to be looking up for her.  Nice job with this.

Author's Response: Dwight almost writes himself sometimes. :) Thanks, brokenloon!

This is great stuff, kells.  I love the premise--which, amazingly, I don't think I've ever seen before--and you're inside their heads perfectly.  I'll be really looking forward to updates of this one.

Author's Response: thank you so much, brokenloon.  It's so good to hear from you.  I'm a big fan of your writing and so it's awesome to get such a nice review from you.  I've had this idea in my head for what feels like forever, and so I'm hoping it will be a relief to get it all out finally, lol.  I'll be updating pretty quickly - at least one more chapter later today and over the next few days.  It's all written already, just tweaking here and there.  Thanks again for reading and reviewing!

Oh, how I love this fic.  Realistic and perfectly paced and just really great storytelling.  Especially loved the new twist on the Christmas card in this chapter.  I get really excited whenever I see this is updated.

Author's Response: Hi brokenloon!  It's good to hear from you, my friend.  I've been mostly MIA lately, and I can't believe I'm just now getting to your review.  Thank you for the kind words.  I'm glad you're enjoying this.

Still loving it...really nice job with the pacing...not rushed but not dragging either.  And, speedy art school application aside, it's a completely realistic and believable depiction of the characters and their development.

Author's Response: Thanks brokenloon.  That means a lot to me.  For me an AU doesn't work unless I really feel that it's a realistic version of the characters we know, so I'm glad that where they are heading seems reasonable to you.  I was also a bit worried about the pacing too, but I'm glad you feel it's moving along nicely.  I really appreciate your reviews.  Thanks again :)

Her softly saying "I think I'm gonna leave Roy" is one of my favorite moments in a fic ever, I think.  It's a surprise to the reader (as I'm sure it was to Jim) but very real.  There is something satisfying about Pam sort of suddenly coming to that conclusion with little drama or outward emotion.

I do love this story so much.  Truly one of my very favorites ever.

Author's Response:

Wow brokenloon -  thank you so much for the kind review.

I went back and forth with this chapter and how to approach this visit with them.  I decided I wanted it to be a little more quiet, understated.  Pam strikes me as that type of person - and it rubs me the wrong way when she comes off as too dramatic and so I'm glad that you feel it came across the way it did.

I really look forward to and appreciate your reviews. You've been such an awesome supporter of this story from the beginning and I truly do value that.  Thank you so much!

This one goes straight to the hall of fame.  Just absurdly wonderful, right down to the wonderfully apt bonus poem.  I suspect I will wind up reading this again and again.

Author's Response: And I'm absurdly pleased that you felt that way, brokenloon. And especially that you felt the relevance of the poem - I've loved that one for longer than I'll admit amongst an audience of twenty-somethings ;-) Thanks so much for all your reviews - this one meant a lot to me too.

Really spelendid job here. You capture Pam's compassion and the sad pathos of Toby very well, and you do a nice job with Sasha...as the father of a nine year old I feel qualified to say that your depiction was realistic.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I really appreciate the feedback about writing Sasha. I\'m always a little nervous writing kids so I\'m happy I did an okay job.

What a little gem this is.  I have so much affection for Pam, and I love it when the affection the author has for her comes through like it does here.  Also, the sort of sudden turn here really works.  The show conditions us to them getting in their own way, but Jim's "I'm proud of you" and Pam's "I love you" were very organic here, espcially since Pam had her stuff together.  Great stuff.

Author's Response: Thanks! I love Pam. I love Pam getting her act together. I\'m glad you liked it!

Okay, me again.  I just reread this and wanted to say how much I love the concluding sentence:  She makes it to his place in record time, and he's standing outside and it's starting to snow, and she likes the snow, likes how it lands and makes everything clean and fresh, and as her feet sprint across his frozen yard, she decides that this is her making something out of nothing.

It's poetry, really.

Reading this was definitely the best part of my day.  I love all the subtle touches of realism you throw in, like Jim being flustered after fighting traffic.  It was all great, a splendid depiction of them as a couple.

Author's Response:

Happy to be of service.  :)  I know this guy who worries about traffic a lot - so I have some experience there. ;)

Anyway - what I really meant to say is thank you.

Yay for vintage xoxoxo!  I've missed your alwys wonderful version of their banter.  Pam rings so true here, wanting a routine date, some normalcy in the midst of all the new stuff around here.  And leave it to a New Yorker...you guys are alwasy bragging about your bagels.

Author's Response: Why thank you.  I'm very happy you liked it.  And I'm sorry that you're so bitter about living in a sub-par bagel location.  Not my fault. :)

Okay, I liked the warmth and sweetness and all that, but I have to admit my favorite part here was Michael's cameo.  Good lord.  The fight was good too...I do believe jealousy would trip our Jim up occasionally.

Author's Response: I freaking love Michael so that's OK by me.  :) And yeah - I don't think Jim is immune to  jealous thoughts now and again so I'm glad you agree.  More wamth and sweetness to follow. :)

See, kids, that wasn't so hard, right?  I think you struck just right the balance here, with them making progress but not getting past all their issues in one fell swoop.  Also, a tremendous job writing the conversation...very, very real and well paced.  I will look forward to the epilogue.

Author's Response: Well truthfully this could go on and on, but I will refrain from that.  Perhaps just what we were discussing for the epilogue.  However I did buy the books for my class today, so....I may be busy (yea!).  Thanks for listening to all my childish rants.

This is amazing.  Such an evocative portrait of Jim here; we can see the seeds of the Karen relationship and his whole S3 persona.  And I have a sneaking suspicion that this story is only going to get more amazing.  So awesome that you are writing.

Author's Response: Hey BL, thanks for the support as always.  I certainly hope that we'l be hearing from you soon.  Of course it does go AU from here, but it could stand alone and work I think.  But in my world, I can't stand to drag Jim, Pam or Karen through the horror of Season 3.  Course you might have a "suspicion" about where it goes from here. ;-)

Brilliant, simply brilliant my friend.  The depiction of Jim's hurt and anger and the depth of his feeling is so spot on.  It's rough to imagine him being cold and hurtful, but that's how humans in pain are.  Your Pam here is just right too...struggling to be honest, not quite aware of just how much she had hurt him.  Love.  This.  Fic.

Author's Response: Well, again, I would like to thank you for being you.  You have helped me so much with my writing and with being more confident in myself.  Really, would not be here without you.

What a little beauty this is.  It's easy to imagine Pam having a certain sort of wonderlust, that her New York adventure would make her want to see new places.  And of course, Jim would go anywhere with her.  Pam's vivid take on the Big Apple and the light but weighty conversation at the end are wonderful, and could only have been written by you.

Author's Response: Brokenloon thank you so much (as always) for being the greatest beta ever and keeping my characterization completely in check.  My stories would leave many a folk scratching their heads and going "huh?" if it weren't for you.  Sox.

Very, very nice.  I like Pam's regret at having wasted time and her matter-of-fact sureness that graphic design wasn't for her.  And, I like at the end how they cement their bond, as they have so many times before, by sharing the absurdity around them.  Well done, as always, my friend.

Author's Response:

Yay!  22 reviews!!!  That's better. :)   Did you plan that?

One thing.  Her matter-of-fact sureness wasn't quite what I intended there.  I meant it more like it was the excuse she'd come up with on the surface - and that the real issue was what they discussed later.  Still I'm glad it worked for you the other way.  It's always interesting to see what others take away from what you write.  Thanks - as always - for letting me know.
