Yup, it’s a post-Cocktails fic! With a bit of a twist. Karen does a bad thing, and Jim is about to suffer the consequences…I have loved this story from the beginning, but your ending just completely blew me away. You capture all the character's voices and emotions SO well.
I love how you didn't have Jim and Pam fall into each other's arms after she came over. You made it so believable. You really captured Jim's anger/hurt/frustration and Pam's indecisiveness/fear/guilt, and yet the story flowed from tension and angst to just pure lovely so seamlessly. The fact that you can do this in 8 chapters and have it not seem contrived gives me hope that the writers of the show will be able to do the same thing by the end of the season. Please... Please... Please... Please!
The way you used Dwight was perfect. Its been said already, but I just wanted to reiterate.

I have all this unresolved anger toward Jim for absolutely breaking my heart (and Pam’s) all this season, and now I’m getting this strange sadistic satisfaction at watching him suffer. I am a total Jammer, so I can’t believe you actually have me routing for Ryan!!! Pam deserves some happiness... I’m sick of watching her suffer. LoveLoveLove this story... please don’t stop.
Okay, so now not only do you have me routing for Pam to end up with Ryan, but you actually have me liking Karen? I love this little bizarro universe you have created in which I can entertain such sacrilegious thoughts.
I like the way you write Ryan. He is so different from on the show yet very believable. I really think that he has a sweet/fun side that we don’t get to see in the office. We only see small glimpses of it here and there. When you had him kissing Pam’s neck at the table I got goose bumps!
. Oh, and Jealous Jim... soooooo Yummy! I’m not used to seeing him so Raw and testosterony... I can definitely get used to it. I need to know what Ryan and him talked about in the bathroom. Are you gonna clue us in later on in the story?

I love this story. I feel like I am in Rome again. Only this time it's with Jim and Pam which is even better! You captured the chaos of the Sistine Chapel perfectly. My only request is that you have Jim and Pam eat gelato together on the Spanish Steps. Romantico!

Jim has finally asked Pam out on a date. What happens now? This story follows their relationship as it develops throughout the summer, and shows how the rest of Dunder Mifflin reacts to both this and other recent changes in their lives.
Please keep going. I love the way you you tell part of the story from Dwight's perspective. I can't wait to see how JAM spends their summer!
MEMBER'S CHOICE - An alternate universe where Pam and Roy had a wedding, Pam goes to art school in New York, Dwight owns a restaurant and Jim works for a job in advertising that he likes a lot more and gets a lot more money at.
Basically? Dunder Mifflin never exists. And everyone meets under different circumstances.
The characters are pretty much the same -- personality-wise -- they just have different roles and work different jobs.
I love the alternative universe you have created. It's nice to see Jim and Pam meeting like this, both of them open to new opportunities without any Roys or Karens standing in their way. Oh wait, is there a Karen? Please don't let there be a Karen!

I love that Karen is evil in this story. I like having a really good reason to despise her. I got a lot of crap for hating her just because she was dating Jim last season.

I'm in love with this story. Even though it's a completly different life, you still remain true to the characters. It's still very Jim and Pam. It's all so believable. I can really see Jim as a professor and pam as a sculptor living in Queens and travelling the world. I always pictured a picket-fence, 2.5 kids and a minivan for these two, but this shoe fits too. And, I kind of like the way it feels.
And things like this do happen, I ran off to Vietnam in September. I'm living in Saigon, eating a lot of noodles and teaching English for spending money. It's great.
