This was just so well written, you can actually feel Oscar's pain - in a funny way.
I would also like to take the opportunity to inform that I have actually eaten mung beans on several occasions. They can be prepared in many different ways to produce somewhat edible dishes. I've never tried them straight up, though.
Author's Response:
"...somewhat edible dishes."
Ha! Yeah, I've never had them. I imagine they taste like lentils, maybe mustier. Thanks for reviewing, Alex!

I read this before the new episode but got caught up in other things before reviewing, and I really enjoyed it then but now it is tainted because I hate Gil :(
But anyway, it's still great writing, and very amusing/cute to see the whole event summed up from Oscar's perspective.
Stupid Gil and his stupid thing...
Author's Response:
Thank you, Semby :)
[Gil was pretty harsh last night, wasn't he? But... totally right - Pam's art was safe + hesitant.]

Aw, I loved this! Well done, you! And Gil: "Doesn't matter. Ain't gonna happen." Hahaha. He is so onto Jim. And hee, King Of Spain. Classic Michael.
Author's Response: Thanks, Paper Jam :)

Oscar's voice was spot-on. I could really see the character in my head. Phyllis' wedding from his perspective sure was interesting. Now, what could Gil possibly have as a story for Oscar...?
Author's Response: Thanks, Luna! :)

Yay! I LOVED this from beginning to end! I'm not so good with reviews because I don't know technical writing words and stuff, but you write Oscar's voice so freaking good or is it well?... whatever! The pauses, the words he would emphasize, the short and to the point statements...just like Oscar would talk, you have obviously studied his mannerisms. "So how was it?" ... "She put Micheal in her wedding." Heh. That's all he really needed to say. Also, "a living breathing nightmare in a teal vest" Again, LOVE. And I'm with LL/Beth, this story is now fact in my mind. P.S. Where have you been? I was having nomadshan withdrawals. Seriously.
Author's Response: Aw, justkaren - don't worry about the technical writing words - I don't know most of them, either. My degree's in history/anthro, not English lit :) Thanks for all the specifics! p.s. I've been in a corner, learning how to play nice ;)

"He thought it was ‘King of Spain'."
Heeeee!!! Oh, you wonderful Shan, you! This is just as dishy and sweet as I had hoped! I was soooo disappointed that we got no Gil, but now I'm sticking your delightful thing in my head and calling it canon. I am also choosing to believe that Gil came to his Pam/Jim knowledge in my fic, Fringe.
Thank you, dear Shan! Happy Valentine's Day!
Author's Response:
And to you, lady. I rewatched the episode, searching for Gil, and when he wasn't there, this idea popped up.
And Fringe - exactly! My fic memory is so terrible that I didn't remember it was yours - OMG DUH! This hasn't been my year - yeesh. Will add a line to the chapter notes. Glad you liked :)

ACK! What's the story? We have to know Gil's story!
Hee. I love this so much- the use of all the familiar little details (the ficus, the back-and-forth of the conversation) that shows us that this is clearly a long-term intimate relationship between two people in love. We don't really know Gil or even Oscar very well, but you make them come alive here in a real, domestic setting. Gorgeous way to recap Phyllis' wedding from a new point of view.
Author's Response: Thank you. Lis! I'm glad it captured the couple-ness. :)

YAAAY Oscar/Gil fic!! I love your version of their relationship-so comfortable and subtly coupl-y, and funny. Seems so right based on the little we've seen.
Author's Response: Thanks a lot, yippee - glad it rang true for you :)

What does Gil know? Did I miss something?
I loved the viewpoint. It was such a great idea. It would be fun to hear other people's opinions of the wedding.
Author's Response:
Hey, Jen -- I like to think Gil's more intuitive about Oscar's coworkers than Oscar is, and knows about Jim + Pam.
It would be fun to hear other viewpoints. Someone should get on that :)

Oh, hey! Guess who asked about you?"
"Who?"
"Kelly. I'm thinking maybe I should just give her your cell number --"
Awesome, Shan.
Author's Response: Thanks, Krissy :)

Superb writing per usual! Now I want to hear about Michael's antics from every person's viewpoint! Why do you do this to me? WHY!
Author's Response:
Hee, thanks, Muggins :)

Awesome!
Although...it was fish. Michael thought it was chicken.
This is awesome sauce.
Author's Response: Ack! Will change it now... Thanks, lit_glitter :)
