OMG. I was reveling in the honest voice you've given Karen. That it was so nice to finally get a glimpse of all the things that keep her with Jim, since so much fic focuses on all the ways that she causes him to change who he really is. I love the mosquito metaphor and the barely suppressed jealousy and the neat interweaving of the actual show moments. And then you leave the chapter break with the impending Roy beat-down and I have to go home and not finish because my ride is on the way! GAH!
Author's Response:
Oh no! Your ride needs to accomodate your fic-reading! Heh.
Thank you for the review. I really do have a soft spot for Karen. I'm really flattered by your phrasing- "reveling" Hee! Thanks!

I love, love, love that list of the times Jim hestitated. I love the rhythm and the way you did that - great!
Author's Response: Yay! Thank you for commenting on that part. I definitely tried to create a rhythm with the repeated lines of memories, so I'm glad you liked it!

Yay! I was so excited to see this posted! I love Jim's realization of the position he put Pam in on CN. I can't wait to see where this goes next!
Author's Response: Yeah, I sort of realized what Jim had done as I was writing, and then made Jim confront it. Heh. Thank you for the review :)

PLEASE BE DWIGHT AT THE DOOR. Thats all I have to say. Hahaha. Well that, and I love this story and cant wait to see more!!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I have to plead no comment on the Dwight thing...

he hesitated a hundred times, but didn’t let her hesitate even once.
Wow. Great insight there. All of this is so beautifully written. I'm there on the edge of my seat with Jim. Come on, Pam, SAY IT!
Author's Response: Thank you! It struck me as very unfair that he got to draw it out for years but didn't let her have a second to digest everything. I love him, but he makes me mad sometimes! As for Pam saying it... (*coughchapter8cough*)
Date: April 02, 2007 11:34 am Title: Strength
Awesome, awesome, awesome.
I've never seen anyone have Jim face up to all the times that he's hesitated, while never giving Pam the chance to do the same even once.
He’s stunned by the new view of his own actions.
Me too, Jim.
Well done! Yours is a fic that I get excited to see an update to. Can't wait for your next chapter.
Author's Response:
Thanks, thanks, thanks! :)
As I was writing, it just occurred to me, "Hey... Jim's hesitated plenty of times!"

This was fantastic. I laughed (okay, snorted) at the beginning with the sneezing, saliva, and no snot!
Then, I teared up later with the discussion!
They really said everything I wanted them to say, and in a natural Jim/Pam way, so... I guess you win at life.
I am also ridiculously excited for more!
Author's Response:
Um, okay I'm going to be a total dork and admit that I laughed outloud several times while writing the sneeze. I would just sit there with this goofy grin on my face and start giggling. That was so much fun to write. And actually, when I was writing the beginning of chapter 8 the same thing happened to me. You'll see why...
And yay for winning at life! I usually don't do that!

oooh superb conversation between jim and pam. Just its so them. perfect. six seven, hell I'll give ya ten gold stars for that.
Author's Response: Oooh! Ten gold stars! Thanks! I love writing Jam convos. They have to say everything without saying it.

You're ridiculously excited for the next chapter? I can't frackin' wait! Great story :) I'm so glad that you decided make it a little longer and involved. The idea that Kenny is still sprawled across Jim's Subaru makes me giggle.
Author's Response: Hahaha! Kenny is like my favorite part of this fic. Every now and then when I'm writing I'm like, "Heh. Kenny's still out there." And I'm glad you're excited! I'm writing it today. Well, finishing my first draft.

Wow Shan! This was awesome! Loved dorky Jim sneezing in Pam's cocoa, and the gentle teasing going on, sooooo season 2. Oh how I miss all things season 2!! I loved how the conversation unfolded. Pam being honest yet still... Pam. Can't wait for more...
Author's Response: Thanks Clare! I miss season 2 Jam so, so much. I was watching my S2 dvds today and getting all depressed :(

Shan21, I'm not a regular fanfic reader, but the hiatus left me jonesing so I started getting an office fix through TWOP fan fic recs. I just wanted to say I have been really enjoying Truth & Consequence. I think the story strikes an excellent balance of angst and humor and the dialogue seems very true to the show.
Thanks for making the hiatus bearable.
Author's Response:
Wow, thank you so much! I'm glad I could help out during the hiatus. It was rough for me too and writing this gave me the chance to create my ideal solution to the Cocktails angst :)
I'm glad that you think it's not too angsty or OOC. I try hard to diffuse all of the intense scenes with humor, because that's what makes the show so great!

This was SO good! I think at the top of my list of favorite post-Cocktails confessions, for sure!
The list of Jim's hesitations was just so perfect. And his slow realization. SO good!
So looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Awww, thanks! I think, as much as I love Jim, that he still has yet to realize a lot of things on the show. At least I can have him get a clue in fic :)

“If there was a Dundie for worst communication between two office workers—” she starts.
They totally would win hands down, no contest. You could just throw gold medals right now because there's no competition.
You already know -per our emails - that I am love love this chapter. Althought I am way beyond words anxious for the next one!! *squee* Also reasons I love this chapter:
1) Cocoa sneeze - brilliant
2)I love you took my idea about Pam calling him Dwight after the spit comment. It's great.
3) Their conversations feel so real and you have got the best balance of cute, angst, and hot moments. It rocks my world for shizzle.
4) Also I am in love with the part when Pam grabs Jim's hands and rubs them and he is going nuts. So great.
Have I mentioned I love this? Just making sure :) I am waiting (somewhat patiently) for the next installment....... *squees* Nobody knows whats going to hit them ;0) muahahaha. *writhes hands menacingly*
Author's Response: Thank you! WBJ, you are like my beta guru. There is no way I could have thought up a better ending than yours. No way.

Lovely - just lovely! It was a great talk and I look forward to the fireworks after the police leave!! :D
Author's Response: Thanks moxie! I think the fireworks are going to start while the police are still there... just maybe not the kind you're expecting ;)

THEY TALK! *squeak* yes, i squeaked, not squealed.
JIM IS TOTALLY A HOT SEXY GUY. got that out of the way
So funny about the sneeze
Dude, that conversation totally mirrors what me and another friend were talking about once we rewatched Gay With Hunt talking about how Jim and Pam were different from Season Two, Stamford, and then Post Merger! Freaky how alike we think. of course, you say it so much better than my rambling emails.
Damn, this is perfect. it gets everything out, its so totally believable. its just great.
Wow,
yeah, i think this was amazing.
Author's Response: Wow! Thanks Emily! I agree 100% about Jim. Silly boy doesn't realize how hot he is. I'm glad that we have a psychic connection. We must use this power wisely.

Am I crazy for wanting the Sheriff's Department to have sent a volunteer deputy?
This is so great....can't wait to read what's next!
Author's Response: Hahaha! No comment...

The sneeze -- perfectly unsexy. But how Jim cannot know how freaking sexy he is, uh, *brain breaking*
This is an excellent observation: How he hesitated a hundred times, but didn’t let her hesitate even once.
And you are an evil hobbit leaving us with no JamSmooch! Hope you will update soon!
Author's Response:
Jim strikes me as the guy who has no clue how sexy he is. You know that guy in high school who never realizes that every girl has a crush on him? He's that guy. And somehow that just makes those type of guys sexier!
Glad you liked the sneeze and the hesitation stuff. And yeah, I just realized that I've managed to get through seven chapters without a kiss! I'll make it up to you, I promise :)
Date: April 01, 2007 11:14 pm Title: Hot Water
ooooooooooooh. i get it - hot water. hahaha!
i loved this, the build up. and that jim is in NO WAY letting her get out of it this time.
yeah for quick updates (hint hint)
Author's Response:
Heh. Yeah, I tried to be clever there :)
Thanks for the review :)

Holy tension, Batman! You are keeping us on our tiptoes. I am certainly looking forward to more!
Author's Response: Hah! Thank you! I'm glad that the tension is still there even though the physical danger is over.
Date: April 01, 2007 02:24 pm Title: Hot Water
1) I LOVE it! The tenderness and tension and greatness is just oozing out of this chatper shan! The ending? Jim behind you whispering in your ear? That's hot.
Sorry I couldn't get back to you in time - but next time I promise to be ready asap! Weekends are super busy for me and I worked so I didnt' get to it until just now... But I loved it soo so so much! I'm turning into Kelly. Seriously. Also did you mean something else in thsi part of the sentence (the bold part) like her?...
But thoughts of last May quickly retreat when she feels the phantom pressure of his chest against he back.
Author's Response:
Thanks WBJ! I fixed that last part. It was a silly typo :)
You should be getting an email from me tonight or tomorrow. I've been a busy fic-writer today!
Date: April 01, 2007 01:56 pm Title: Hot Water
All right, all right...talk already, get it out of your system. And then....
Glad you updated. Looking foward to Ch.7!
Author's Response: Ha! Well, I have some good news. Because I'm a terrible student, I've spend the past hour writing fic instead of my term papers. So I now have eight, that's right eight pages written for chapter seven. Almost done :)
Date: April 01, 2007 08:56 am Title: Hot Water
Another great chapter! Gotta love that sexual tension building ;) Love the part about her throwing up after the fair ride, it really really fit the moment perfectly. Can't wait for more! Good luck with finals :)
Author's Response:
Thanks DinkinFlicka! I'm glad that the UST is working, because I'm always so unsure when I write it. The fair ride part was based on a true story. I wasn't the one throwing up, but my sneakers were ruined. Heh.
Now how about more Jealousy?

Gaaaaah. next installment fast please.
Author's Response: Hah! I hope that was a good "gaaaaah"! Thanks :)

awesome, shan21! i haven't read a lot of fanfic, but yours was my first & one of the best! can't wait to see what happens next (before thurs, please?)!
Author's Response:
I was your first? (TWSS)
I'm so happy that you liked it :) I would looooove to have the next chapter out before Thursday. Friday would be a much better bet... and the weekend would be an even better bet. But we'll see! I've just written the first page of chapter 7 and it's going well.

I have an affinity for Jim and Pam and hot cocoa anyway. This was the perfect amount of awkward and sweet. I can't wait to see what else you have in store.
Author's Response: Heh. Yeah, I went for the cocoa idea. There's just something about cocoa, isn't there? Thanks so much for the review!
