Hahahaha! Pam and Ryan do make a good temporary couple.
Still, jealous Jim is being a tool...
so typical of men.
Author's Response: I know! Haha, when guys feel threatened they become real assholes. Thanks for the comment!

I hope Ryan isn't lying! He sounds like he's lying :(
I really love this story!
Author's Response: Lying about Kelly you mean? Oh, don't worry, he's not ;) Thank yoou!

Oh man. OH MAN. There's too many things I love about this to list- and I'm actually starting to kind of hope that Pam and Ryan hook up. Its all that talk about his baby blues. ;o) Did me in.
Author's Response: Hehehe, I don't think any woman in her right mind would be able to resist those eyes ;) Thanks so much!

Ok I am all for Jim (that's my boy!) but I have to admit I am starting to "feel the love" for Ryan as well...Ugh...does that make me a trader ?? I take back , I take it back......;) Great chapter !!
Author's Response: No no you aren't a traitor! I promise, no one will take away your JAM card :) Thank yoou!

interesting chapter. I love Pam's acting. Very nice.
Author's Response: Thank you!

WooHoo! You made my morning posting an update to this lovely little fic. And the Titanic thing? Of course Micheal would find it appropriate to show a movie about a sinking ship while they're at sea. Of course. And Ryan/Pam is actually making me a little butterfly-ey in my tummy. And I'm still loving the jealous Jim, or course. I can't wait for the next chapter! :)
Also? You totally need to get Kate and Leo on the phone to discuss this movie idea. It could be Titanic II: This Time It's The Office or something less lame. But whatev. It's an awesome idea.
Author's Response: Hehe, oh yeah I bet Kate and Leo would totally be on board for this ;) Thanks for yet another lovely review... want to be my co-producer on the film?

no garbage - I love this! I just love seeing Pam happy and confident.
Author's Response: Thanks! I love happy and confident Pam the best too :) She is my favorite.

Another great chapter... it was great late night reading ... I can't believe it is only a TWO day cruise.....
Author's Response: Hehe, thank you! Oh, and the two day thing? Well... there may be a little problem coming up with that ;)

Just wanted to say I love this story! I definitely prefer the JAM-my goodness, but I like how you make Ryan into an actual (likeable) person. Jim is being a huge baby, and I'm actually rooting for a bit more Ryan/Pam action. Will be looking for your next update!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)

OMG. The sort of hand holding but not? I feel all fluttery and anxious for another chapter. Pam and Ryan are so- I don't know. I just love it. The fake crying and everything. Oh, man. I'm addicted.
Author's Response: Hehe, yes! I've got unfold addicted! What a cool feeling :)

You may not believe this, but, unlike Jim and Pam, I have actually never seen the Titanic. Nevertheless, I was quite literally laughing out loud at Pam's fake emotionality. Nice one!
Author's Response: Well you aren't missing much... really, haha. I haven't seen it since it was in theaters so I was pretty much going on memory and IMDB.com, I'm glad it was still readable! ;)

Awesome! I had no idea I loved Ryan this much!
Author's Response: Hee! I'm so glad that I can help you realize it ;)

Okay, I know this is a Jim/Pam site, but I'm sort of rooting for a Pam/Ryan ending. I just plain like it! Awesome, awesome fic. Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: Thank you soo much! Hee, I like that this is getting people all mixed up in the head over this Pam/Ryan possibility. There shall be more soon! :)

This is so weird, but I am actually enjoying the Ryan/Pam bonding! Of course, I'm just waiting for the jealous Jim explosion, but its a fantastic distraction in the mean time! I was so happy to see that you had updated so fast!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm actually glad that you're a little conflicted over it... it makes it a little more interesting, eh? ;) I'll try my best to get an update up early in the weekend. The next chapter is giving me a liiittle bit of trouble so we'll see how it goes.

at this point, i'm so completely 50/50 on this jim versus ryan thing. it's pretty crazy.
although i do hope that, if she DOES hook up with ryan ... she'll hook up with jim later. or SOMETHING. to soothe my jim/pam-obsessed brain. lol.
Author's Response: Or hook up with them at the same time? No? Too much? Hehe, juust kidding.. maybe. Thanks for the wonderful comment ;)

"Ryan’s hand reaches out and he lets his fingers tangle in hers. They aren’t exactly holding hands, more like… holding fingers actually, which is better in some respects because at least this way she doesn’t have to worry about her palm sweating."
That was a lot to quote, but GUHHHHH FINGERHOLDING. [And nice work extracting Kelly from the situation - much appreciated.] I have so much love for the situation you've created. Jim being jealous of Pam and Ryan [and of Pam's seeming LACK of jealousy over Karen, when she tells the Titanic story], and how even though Ryan and Pam both recognize the full awkwardness of their situation and the complication that is Jim, they're just kind of letting whatever is between them happen naturally, and it's just...more, please. Thank you AGAIN for the fingerholding.
[This is totally remotivating me to marathon the entire series and assemble a gigantic LJ post of Pam/Ryan moments - because they're SO THERE.]
Author's Response: Oh, do it! Do it! I was seriously considering making a Ryan/Pam shipper fanvid, heheh, there are so so many moments! Like that breakroom scene in Branch Closing? Talk about tension. I thought they were going to make out then and there. And yay, you liked the finger holding! I love those little moments when you're first becoming interested in someone (when you're just freaking out because you're kind of holding hands!) hehe, and I just wanted to try and capture that about what is going on between them, that they aren't really thinking about it, just having a good time. Pam freaking deserves a good time by this point!! I don't want any more crying Pam.

This story is so ridiculously addictive. I love everything about it, even though Jim's kind of an ass, but a hot ass (and a HOTT ass). And I loved Ryan already, but...I love him so much more now. SO MUCH MORE! And...I need more of this. Like, now. :) *loves*
Author's Response: Hee, thank you thank you thank you! I kind of like Jim being a little... snarky ;) Its kinda hot. And Ryan is just plain hot in general so, yeah. I'm so glad you're enjoying it :)

Eeeep! I'm so torn! One minute, I'm like, "Go Ryan! Suck on that, Jim!!!" And the next, I'm like, "Aww, Jim still loves her in his roundabout way!" I'm really getting addicted to this little fic! Oh, and I love your Karen! If only they'd flesh her out a little on the show. I guess it's a good sign they haven't. ;)
Oh, and in contrast to a commenter below, I LOVE that you've given Pam someone else to get close to. It's kinda like in that interview with JK how he said that Karen is a good option for Jim and he's not sure if Pam's the one or not anymore. I can totally see this happening between Pam and someone else. I mean, sure, Ryan's a total dick in the office, but wouldn't you be with Michael as your boss? I think, that outside the office, he'd be a lot of fun. He hasn't broken Kelly's heart yet. That has to mean something. He may have a soft side that's just been hiding. Oh, and there are no cameras on the ship, so he may be showing his true colors since they aren't there. Wow, I'm analyzing your story, haha! Oops.
Sorry for the long review, I just had to tell you to not get discouraged, even if this fic doesn't end up with happy Jim/Pam, because that's life sometimes, you know?
Author's Response:
You have no idea how encouraging this review is! Seriously, analyze away because I am loving it :) I totally agree with every point that you've made and I do tend to draw a lot of what I feel I know about the characters from interviews by the actors themselves (like JK's interview about Karen being a viable option, and BJ's interview about loving that Kelly loves him, and maybe even missing that Michael loves him) I mean, who knows these characters better than the people that play/write them? In fact, the idea for this story stemmed from an interview BJ gave which said that the difference between Ryan and Jim is that Jim thinks he's in a comedy, whereas Ryan thinks he's in a tragedy. So, here I thought it'd be interesting to flip that a little. And the one thing that always stands out in my mind that screams "Ryan is a good guy!" is that TH from the Merger about Kelly when he just says "I don't know... I can't explain it." My heart just melts every time. And while I love Jim and Pam and do root for them on the show, part of me is unsure about them as a couple and that is fun to play with a little in the fanfic realm of things :)
Seriously, thanks so much, I really needed to hear this :)

I love the versatility of your writing, DF. You blew me away with the darkness of "You can have it all," and then you made me laugh out loud with "Clash of the Titans," and now you're working some serious sexual tension with "Hey, Jealousy." You are a very talented writer.
Author's Response: Oh wow, thank you so much! What an amazing compliment :) You've just made my night!

Dwight's line about the ending of the movie was PRICELESS. I really laughed, thank you for that! And I also like the cute Ryan/Pam stuff as well.
Author's Response: Thank you! Dwight's so much fun to write for sometimes :)

EEE!!!!
Cat conventions and Titanic tears and RYAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And bonus points for the Jan/Michael freaky love AND Toby hatred!!
I think I may be getting too emotionally invested in this!!!!!
Wow!
And Dwight claps when the ship sinks!!!! YESSSS!!!!!!!
Author's Response: Hehehe, oh I really really needed to hear that at this particular moment so THANK YOU! Dwight would totally clap, hee!

I'm incredibly confused about where you're going with this. I mean, this is a Jim/Pam site, not a Ryan/Pam site. And you are going completely out of Ryan's character. Ryan admits himself that Jim's a nice guy and he's not in The Merger. This has stopped being fan fiction and is simply fiction. Also, I'm just bitching because I want to read Jim/Pam stuff. This is actually quite good, but I still hate it because it's not Jim/Pam. lol. So, please, for the love of God, just end it or make it about Jim and Pam now. I'm sick of waiting. I've got the show to wait for, I don't want to have to wait for fan fiction to stop stalling and just bring them together.
Author's Response: Yikes, okay, first off, yes this primarily is a Jim/Pam site, but people do tend to post other pairings here as well because its a great forum for sharing fanfiction. I don't think I'm stretching Ryan's character all that far actually. The show gives us an extremely limited view of every character we see, as in, we see them at work and that's about it. I don't think she show has ever said "Ryan's a bad guy and not nice at all", in fact, on a number of occasions he's been shown as very friendly (think back to the Pilot? Dundies? Email Surveillance? Cocktails?) I really think that out of that office he could be a cool guy. And not to go off on a tangent or anything, but the show doesn't have me entirely convinced that Jim and Pam should be together. They are both pretty emotionally immature and I think that Pam in particular needs someone outside of Roy/Jim to help her overcome some of her insecurities (but thats just my opinion). I can't promise that I"m going to "get Jim and Pam together" in this story, but I can promise that I've not forgotten about them. Thank you for reading and sharing your comments, I really do appreciate them. Hopefully you can suspend your disbelief somewhat and keep an open mind about Ryan ;)

I have always had such a crush on Ryan/BJ. His blue eyes are really mesmerizing! I love the idea of Pam/Ryan. It's playful and light and new. YAY!
Author's Response: Oh BJ... I think I might stalk him if it wasn't illegal. Wait, what? Who said that? I'm so glad you like the story! :)

This is torture. And I am loving every word of it. What's this I hear about you having "several" chapters done? What are you waiting for? ;)
Author's Response: Just trying not to overwhelm my lovely betas by throwing everything at em at once ;) Plus, I'm still tweaking the chapters, deciding on some plot things... you know how it goes :) I figured a chapter a day was a decent pace to shoot for?
