God, as much as I didn't like Karen and Jim together, I still liked Karenm and that broke my heart a little aw.

Boy you got Karen right! That sounded perfect and fits in well with the way she sounded in 4.01, too. I love the juxtaposition of the city noises and jostlings and distractions with the ending of a relationship that really was just a distraction. Nice work!

So good, a good way to explain how it happened. I like that Karen wasn't a b*tch in it. It still sucks to be her, but, its good. :)

Wow...gorgeous (per usual). I love how you described everything going on around them, seems very real. Wonderful job.

There was always too much going on around and between them for it to ever work- and you've captured that feeling here flawlessly. This piece is so fully alive- your gift for detail is on wonderful display.

I am convinced that this is exactly how this scene happened. You are a great writer. I don't know how else to say it. :)

Oh I love this! The descriptions and imagery were simply lovely, and you really captured the moment as it might have happened. Wonderful work here; this is the best "post-Job" one-shot I've read yet!

So in my head this is now and will always be how they broke up.
Beautiful, as always.

Now THAT is a breakup scene. Fantastic! I love how fumblling and helpless yet determined Jim is, and how we get the feeling that it all just kind of ebbed away between these two, that even Karen felt it and sort of just shrugged and walked away. Not much drama, at least on the surface, but lives are changed in a big, big way. And you do it all with so much subtlety, as always. Rich, powerful prose. I do so love your writing, unfold. Thanks again for another top notch story.

This is so nicely written, and certainly a way things could have happened. I love all of the "It happens..." statements. Just so good, showing all the life happening around them while they're having this moment. This is not a Jim place.
Lovely, lovely.
