I never read fanfic. But I read this, and it was wonderful!
This part made me lol, quite literally:
I’ve never been this close to you in the dark for so long, except on movie days at work, which don’t count because we are also really close to Meredith and Creed.

"That none of the other stuff is important anymore because my lips are sore and the moon is smiling and finally, finally, you’re mine." I really enjoyed the story, especially this last line.

Wow, this was really lovely. So many wonderful parts: "You whisper “ok” like you’re giving me permission to do something so I lean down and kiss you and it’s. just. everything."; "I drive home later with the windows down and the radio off. " ; "That none of the other stuff is important anymore because my lips are sore and the moon is smiling and finally, finally, you’re mine." Thank you!

Just loved it. I haven't read too much 1st person Jim fic, and the voice was angsty and funny and lovely.

so happy and...smiley. I love this:
which is three weeks after our first date, which is a year and a half after our other first date

This is just wonderful. Excellent characterizations of both of them, I loved this hesitant and nervous Jim who never really knows what Pam is thinking.
This...You pull back enough to rest your forehead on mine and I can feel your eyelashes on my face and your breath on my lips and my heart gets so full that I'm afraid it might explode.... was beautiful.
I think I'll go read it again now. :)
Author's Response: Thanks! I think Jim has always kind of been in the dark about what Pam is thinking so I would imagine he would be pretty hesitant on a first date.

Very good insight to Jim's head. Loved it.

I enjoyed the awkwardness of it all. And Karen calling in the middle of their first date to give Jim a piece of her mind feels totally realistic! I loved this: I kiss you again and decide even if my heart does explode; it will totally be worth it.
Author's Response: Thanks!

This is really beautiful and a nice look into Jim's mind. Really well done.

Wow! This was just awesome! And that's a lot coming from me. But you really characterized Jim very well. I'm amazed. Great work!
Author's Response:
Thanks so much

i had to review again b/c i forgot to be WAY excited that you used The Decemberists for your title! i LOVE this song SO much! great choice :)
Author's Response: Love the song too! Just realized, though, that there is another fic with the same title. Whoops.

oh sigh. i love this:
it's. just. everything.
the punctuation makes it perfect. i also love that he is so confused by the fact that things are so close to what used to be normal for them that he's worried. But that's what he fell in love with, that easy sweet banter between them. This is written so beautifully. i love it.

This is just beautiful. I love the first/second person points of view,a nd this would be a magical first/second date. LOVE IT!!
Date: May 25, 2007 09:46 am Title: Chapter 1
I like this! I've read a few first date fics so far and this one is the most believable -- their trouble transitioning from awkward friends to dating, Jim's doubts, even now, the way that settling into their old routine isn't really what they want, maybe. Sweet and awkward and hopeful. :)
Author's Response: Thanks! I´ve always thought that friends to more than friends must be a pretty awkward transition.

I love this. I love it because it's so real. I think everyone assumes that they'll go on a date and immediately be the Jim and Pam they used to be. But so much has happened between them and they are both different now - even though the feelings are still there they'll have to navigate it differently. I love hearing it from Jim's POV - how confused he is but he still loves her like he always has. The imagery is wonderful as well. Just beautiful.

OK, I want to quote the whole thing back at you as examples of what I loved, because I love this. I think this is wonderful. I actually don't believe Jim abandoned Karen in NYC, but you make it plausible here as part of how confused and reluctant he still is. It's just perfectly Jim.
I think about how this night was everything and nothing like it’s always been between us, which confuses me even though I don’t want it to.
Killer line. This is just amazing.
Author's Response: Yeah, I don´t think he abandoned her in New York either but I love the idea of Karen going crazy. I´m really glad you liked it.
