And suddenly glassblowing becomes irresistibly sexy. And heartbreaking. And amazing.
This was so great. Because of rain and hand-holding and BRINGING HER HAND TO HIS MOUTH.

This is gorgeous. I was torn between adoration and guilty jealousy at the thought that I will never be able to pen something so...thoughtful. You should be proud.

Glassblowing really is the coolest thing to watch. I saw some artists in Venice and it was amazing...what a great idea for a story :) It so funny how just holding hands is such an experience for JAM.

Even though it's fine for the story, I'm afraid I'm going to have to be pedantic and point out that, while glass is a supercooled liquid (in that it has no crystal structure) and its deformation mechanism is viscous flow, the rate of flow is so small under standard temperature and pressure that the change in thickness is not what the common myth states.
The reason why old glass windows are thicker at the bottom can be attributed to the manufacturing process of the times, which involved a big dollop of molten glass onto a flat surface, and it didn't quite get entirely flat by the time it cooled. The glass was cut into squares, and they'd usually put the thicker side at the bottom because it placed less stress on the piece that way. You will occasionally see an old piece of original glass with the thick end at the top.
Glass sculptures many thousands of years old have been found in Egyptian tombs essentially unchanged. The recipe for glass hasn't changed so much that the medieval glass flows so much in only a few hundred years.
The rate of flow is more along the lines of an angstrom per thousand years under self-weight and room temperature, at least according to the calculations I've seen.
As you see, this is a big problem for people like me who are engineers (in my case, mechanics of materials). We can't just enjoy good writing, we have to be all nitpicky about it because we can't just turn our brains off (dammit).
Ummm... sorry for the rant.

God, this was just lovely. You described the visuals beautifully, and the way they complemented Pam's internal workings was excellently done.

My husband is a glassblower/artist, and he probably won't thank you for the fact that now whenever I watch I'll be thinking of Jim. Fabulous!:)

That was so beautifully written. Drunken honey is really the perfect description for glass that is being sculpted!
When she says at the beginning "Will you take me?" instead of "Will you come with me?" and then the handholding were perfect touches to describe the blurred boundaries of their relationship.

I love glass blowing. It is one of my favorite things to watch. Beautiful story.

Beautiful. I love the way that everything at the show becomes intertwined with her feelings. My favorite bit was how she counted to five, but only got to four and a half before holding his hand.

Beautiful story. So very romantic but educational for the reader at the same time. And Jim sucking the blood from her finger - wow.

so beautiful--you have such a lovely way of using words so that each one seems like it really counts. you created too many lovely, dark moments between the two of them for me to name. the whole thing was just wonderful :)

Mmm... nice, with all the almost-inappropriate touching, and the sweet touches of humor.

This is a really, really lovely fic. Just so easy to sink into. Amazing imagery. I love, love, LOVE this line: it swings like drunken honey. Yar.

Oh my goodness, you definitely got a gasp from me when he sucked on her finger. This story has so many beautiful little details with the explanation of glass, and her not being able to last the full five seconds before holding his hand again. There are so many more, but then I'd probably just be recapping the whole thing. Amazing.

Poor Jim, how she tortures him. Poor Pam, who can't figure out what she needs. This piece is like dark water, with so much just under the surface.

Beautiful, just so beautiful. All of your sentences are filled with so much emotion. I'm glad you find writing for this fandom so much fun, because everything you've written so far is wonderful.
