I was just about to shut off my computer, when I suddenly had a hankerin' for some fic. And your fic, specifically. I swear, it was like "must read xo's fic" Thought you would like to know that.
I think Jim needs to teach me some laundry skills. I did laundry at camp, and it was these little tablets, and it did it all. Now I have to actually measure stuff. I still don't believe in separating clothes or any of that fancy stuff.
When I was at college, I always got lucky with laundry. I did it at odd times (weekday mornings), so I never had anyone touch my clothes or anything weird. Usually I had the whole place to myself (really, considering there were like 1,000 people and 6 washers, it was a rare feat). Scary laundry guys are not cool.
Protective Jim. Both of Pam and Pam's girly things.

Ga! Crazy laudry people! That's happened to me, too!
Great story!

Jim to the rescue! Which I typed "rescute", and I guess that is exactly what I mean, anyway. I love that Pam was scared but doesn't want to be coddled, and that Jim realized what he was doing just before he got to be too patronizing. Lovely, lovely, as usual- how did I miss this when you posted it?
Author's Response: How'd I miss your review? :) I guess we're even. Thank you as always. It's always a treat to know what you think.

Okay, I'm reviewing twice to save you from the horror of13 reviews. I will just add that I like the depiction of protective Jim here...I think you got him exactly right. You're very kind to me. What is it about my stories and only 13 people reveiwing them??? Annoying. Don't they know I don't like odd numbers?? Glad you remembered though. Thank you. Thanks for saying that. I was just thinking that Jim wouldn't be all in this guys face - and that his salesman skills would come into play. That said - I think if the guy had laid a hand on Pam he'd have clocked him. :)

This was great fun. I guess you have expertise on crazy New Yorkers. I hope this didn't come from personal experience. Great Jim-Pam banter as always.
Author's Response: Hey!! New Yorkers aren't crazy - they're....eccentric. ;) This is purely fiction. No laundry horror stories here. Then again - I bring my laundry back to my parents more often than not. ;) Thanks for the review.

Laundry fic! Yay! I love it. I'm totally voting for its inclusion as an official new sub-genre.
I love that you took such a throwaway line and built and entire history for it. A believable one at that. (Though I must admit I also had visions of the Ross & Rachel At the Laundromat episode.)
Author's Response:
HA! Well the guy in this story initially was just crazy and not scary but I went the more "Jim needs to be protective route".
I'm glad you liked it.

Jim reached towards Pam and pushed her slightly so she was now standing behind him.
GUH - I could totally picture that and it was extremely hot.
I LOVED it. I loved how Jim was all grrr Mr. Sexy boyfriend being all worried about her, seriously awesome.
I agree, laundryfic IS it's own genre, campaign to get your own section =)
Write more NOW =)
Author's Response:
Since I'm an archive admin I think I could easily make laundry!fic it's own section if I really wanted but I don't think we're quite there yet. LOL!
Thanks for the review!

See? This proves you're the Scholar Emeritus of the Laundry Genre ;-) I like how you tied in the bit about Jim telling her to send those drawings to Pratt a la GT.This is cozy as a very cozy thing...love Jim being so familiar with her girl things and protective without going neanderthal. Warm and fuzzy and I think you should work for P&G, developing fabric softener commercials starring these two. I'd buy whatever they're selling - even without a coupon.
Author's Response:
I've been approached to be the Downy spokesperson and I'm totally considering it. ;) The protective thing was a toughie. Morning Angel kept me in check. At first the crazy guy was actually well...just crazy. Or maybe just someone Dwight would have gotten along fine with. ;) Anyway - I love that you loved it. Thank you.

Very nice. I loved this in particular: "At that moment it occurred to Jim he was acting very much like the one person he prided himself on being the exact opposite of."
Great way to fill in that gap from Baby Shower.
Author's Response: Thanks Desslok. I'm so happy you enjoyed it - esp. Protective!Jim. :)

I don't care if he can hook up the TiVo right or not, I like a Jim who knows his way around Pam's "girly things." Loved this.
Author's Response:
I COMPLETELY AGREE. :) Thanks so much. It's a silly little thing but I'm so glad you liked it.

I'm so glad it was you to tackle this. I loved your other story and linked it in the episode thread for those who hadn't read it yet.
I loved Jim coming in and protecting her. I also love how he's concened about coming off too "Roy"ish, but of course, Pam understands that. Choosing sketches for her application to Pratt was a great tie-in too.
There's always one or two sketchy people at the laundromat. My condo building has a communal laundry room and occasionally I run into someone who doesn't respond or even look at you when you say hello, and you wonder what their dealio is.
I think your next project should be a story about their trip to Sears to buy the washer/dryer. Jim could make more comments about the ability of the different washers to take care of her "delicates".
Thanks so much for this! I have a ton of laundry to do later, and I'll be in a much happier frame of mind thanks to this lovely fic.
Author's Response:
You're a gem EH - of the highest order. Thanks for the linkage!!!
I was trying to figure out how to make laundry at all exciting and realized that was another conversation we never got to see. So glad you thought it fit.
I might have another chapter to this one in me...so....stay tuned! And thank you again!

You know that feeling when you pull a warm, soft towel out of the dryer and just bury your face in it? Well, that's the feeling I got from reading this. Yeah. Good stuff. If you've got any more laundry fics in you, don't hold back!
Author's Response: Well that is certainly high praise indeed. Thank you so much!! It's what it was meant to be. Just a warm fluffy thing. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Nice job, my friend. Oh, and not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I was timbuck2 on TWoP and if you read your author notes for Fluff and Fold - well, there's a little shout out to me. So, apparently, I have a thing for the laundry genre as well :)
Well done - you do Jim and Pam banter very, very well. That's one thing I've always loved and appreciated about your writing. Very firm grasp on their characters.
Love it, as usual! (oh and of course, I love sexy, protective Jim. He's hot!)
Author's Response:
Oh you're silly. I know who you are!! :)
Writing Jim and Pam going back and forth like that is my absolute favorite thing about writing fanfic. The fact that you think I succeed at writing it makes me so very happy.
Thanks so much for starting it all. ;)
And umm...yeah he's hot. :)

Ah, this is great! You wove all those little details together so nicely. Jim's reaction to the crazy guy and his concern about her safety ring very true. Love how he moves her to stand behind him. And the banter... love the banter. This in particular:
Jim tapped his fingers against his lips. "Besides dinner at Michael and Jan's or Creed's bottom desk drawer?"
"We said we'd never talk about that again and eww."
Nice! :)
Author's Response:
You can thank Morning Angel for me being a tad more subtle about all that. I had it a little more "Knight in Shining Armor" in first draft. ;)
So glad you enjoyed it.

Too cute! Perfect.
Author's Response: Thank you!!!

I so wanted someone to write about the laundromat! It just screamed fanfic to me.
I loved this! I love Overprotective!Jim. Awesome. Thanks for getting this one out there before I had to write something myself (which would have been far inferior, trust me). Great job!
Author's Response:
Aww don't say that! The more fic the merrier!
My fingers were just itching to write something and so...I took the opportunity.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Wait a minute, missy. You just happened to whip this up today? *sigh* So talented. I like this "laundry fic" genre! I re-read "Fluff and Fold" earlier today and now we have this gem. Call me crazy, but this my favorite: "Today it's one crazy guy. Who knows what'll happen next week. It's not safe here. I think it's the way the dryers go round and round. Maybe it puts people in a homicidal trance." "Homicidal trance"--love that :)
There's more, right? Can't wait!
Author's Response:
OK. Hi Crazy! ;)
You know I intended it to be a one shot but I've been inspired a bit. Maybe one more chapter.
So glad you liked it!!
