You are really, really good at this, you know? Gorgeous. Lyrical, even. You convey the hush of the empty office, the loneliness of it, just beautifully, and it is such a great contrast to the cozy feeling of the scenes with Pam. And your Jim voice is so spot-on, which for some reason I think is hard to capture. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

What a beautiful chapter to wrap things up, really wonderful Colette!
Is it wrong I'm hoping there is something similar next year?:)

I've enjoyed this story so much. Such a shame that it's ended, but it really was beautiful. You guys are awesome. I hope we see each one of you next summer. :)

Does this...*sniff*...mean it's the end of Tesserae? Noooo! *wails until she has the energy to pull herself together*
Ahem, anyway, this was a wonderful way to finish a truly amazing series. Just like any great episode, this chapter was hilarious and sweet and had me with tears in my eyes. Just the image of the two (well I guess three ;)) spooned up on the couch is just...precious. Not only that, your Michael is flawless and I really hope he gets his happy ending too. One complaint: You have now made it practically impossible to wait for the new series. Your beautiful imagery in this has made me unbelievably excited!
Thank you Colette for this and thank you to all the other writers for creating such an epic and incredible series. I'm in awe.
*begins weeping again* I'm okay...it's just something in my eye!

Aw Colette, my dear...thanks for rounding this story out so very nicely. I think what's most interesting about this piece is the maturity you show in Jim - I think it's the first time I've read of him where he hasn't been absolutely denying any similarities to Michael. Here he seemed to take it in, take it for what it was worth and feel ok with it.
Aside from, that the yummy goodness of how J&P got pregnant and how they found ways to celebrate. The yummiest detail of them all was his hand spanning her abdomen and him wondering how long he'd be able to do that. Just lovely.

What a perfect way to wrap everything up, Colette. Just beautiful.
She guided his hand beneath the hem of her shirt and placed it on her belly. When he spread his fingers apart, stroking gently, they practically spanned her entire midsection. He wondered how long he’d be able to do that.
Soon he’d be her husband, but he’d already considered himself that for quite a while.
Still, he couldn’t help thinking how separate their lives might have remained, how she might have become a distant, never quite buried, ache. And now, this - this beautiful, scary, almost impossible idea - inextricably linking them forever.
This baby.
This gave me such a warm feeling. I loved it. Great job!

Colette, I'm so thrilled that you were able to participate in this project after all. Honestly, as fantastic as it’s been, it would have been somewhat incomplete without you. Soon he’d be her husband, but he’d already considered himself that for quite a while. I literally have chills right now, and I’m so psyched for S6. Thank you.

Aw, man, the Michael bits killed me in this - much like Michael eating his sandwich by himself "just like dinner" did in that one episode. One of the beauties of the Jim and Pam relationship is that the both realize how easily it could have been differently, and how lucky they are, and you've done a great job highlighting that here.

Nice job - I liked the crew POV idea. (and that they finally got a less chaste kiss) However, I'm not sure why this is, but my favorite part was when Jim was so pleased that he made Angela laugh.

I have to admit that I found the promotion of this story rather off putting. There was an arrogance you ladies had that nearly made me not want to read the story. But putting aside that judgment, I have followed Tesserae since the beginning and I have yet to be disappointed by a chapter. I believe there is a fantastic collection of authors and stories here that wonderfully represents season five and the some of the best fanfics (and fanfic writers) the Office fandom has to offer.
But Talkative, your particular addition to the collection is probably my favorite entry. There is a simple beauty to the piece and your writing that I admire and don't see too often these days. I've enjoyed that you've taken such small, sweet moments from an episode that I love and were able to weave them together in such an understated and yet powerful way.
Wonderful job! And wonderful job to all those who participated. I am looking forward to how this comes to a close.
Author's Response: A piece of hard-earned advice, if you don't mind reading it: I've found that it is best not to vocalize ungenerous assumptions about the motives of complete strangers. It usually ends up telling anyone who's listening a lot more about you than it does about the people you're criticizing. Thanks for reading. I'm pleased we could change your mind.

Just delicious, Talkative, but then I expect nothing less from you. ...Jim cuts it off with a kiss, the kind of kiss that Cindy has only ever seen him give Pam when they both believe they're not being watched - slow, careful, honey-sweet, the sort of thing that can make a woman unconsciously lay her free hand on the trunk of an oak tree for support. Day-um, mama. As much as I love that, it's just a small part of a glorious story. Thank you.

BEAUTIFUL. Gosh, I love this. I adore crew POV, and this was especially nice, because you captured the relationship not only between the characters so perfectly but the relationship between the crew with those characters. I love the dynamic you talk about with Jim flirting and her giving up the tape...and the sweet little moment on the steps with him scooping her up like she's his bride anyway. PERFECT. Exactly the kind of glimpse that I'm sure we won't get on the show...just those tiny little intimate moments of end of workdays and no lights coming on in the house...I'm rambling, and when I say I could go on forever I'm not exaggerating.
This little piece here - I loved it.

I've been horribly remiss about reviewing lately, but had to chime in here - what lovely, perfect, succinct snapshots each of these bits is - of such specific characters, at such a specific moment. Pam/Michael - and who'd of thunk it - Angela/Jim...so touching and identifiable. And I like the framework of the camera people capturing it all - their appreciation feels like us, as viewers and writers - processing and trying to convey the best of these characters.

Oh, the prelude to Michael's second call is pure gold! Mythbusters, Dwight, Pam's dismissal of Jim's fantasy! Perfection!
Just love this chapter! Your Michael is dead-on, too!
