I'll admit, you had me at Dr. Zhivago, which will always be one of my favorite movies. This was lovely though, and I cannot wait to see how the evening goes.
The language was wonderful, as usual, but this description stood out: He’s learned to tread lightly around the ever-shifting boundaries of what’s acceptable to say when Pam is angry with Roy. Unwittingly slipping from sympathetic to judgmental is far too easy, the ensuing unspoken tension too hard to bear. That is perfect.
Author's Response: Does Dr. Z ever get old? I think not. Many thanks for you comment about the language, jazzfan - for me that's the most challenging part of writing, so it means a lot.

I won't go into how very much I've missed reading something new from you or how much I adore your writing or even how amazing you paint the picture in your stories, as I'm sure it's all redundant by now.
But, wow! This was a wonderfully amazing, and unexpected, Sunday afternoon treat. I love this for many reasons but mostly because we get that longing and aching of season 2, without the contrived angst. Thank you so much for this.
Author's Response: S2 minus contrived angst - yay! As you know, long complicated plots aren't my thing, so I have to find the longing and ache in small moments. So glad that's enough for you too...much appreciated, as always WIL!

Oh Colette, how I missed you. This feels very comfy already. I can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Thanks, doll. You won't have to wait long ;-)

Wow, that was really good. I hope you'll mention a little bit about the art nights - that sounds like so much fun! Anyways, great job, this was really well written and I can't wait for part II!
Author's Response: Well, this is just a two-parter, taking place over one evening, so sorry - no figure drawing group in this one. Hope you enjoy the rest anyway, pamelamorganhalpert!

Looking forward to part two. This was gorgeous.
Author's Response: Thanks much - glad you're enjoying, Hannah H!

I'm glad the snow was good for something ;o)
Cannot WAIT to read the rest. Of course.
Author's Response: You know, NBC should totes make a snow globe of Jim shoveling snow...shirtless. Yeah, that's the ticket. You shall not have to wait long for the rest - and I promise you'll be the first to know ;-)

I've missed you so terribly you don't even KNOW.
Write more. Faster.
Or I'll take away your ribbon. :)
Much more seriously - Oh how I've missed your way with words - the way you put me right there in the midst of the little Jim and Pam centric world you create. It's almost as if I can smell the snow and my toes are frozen standing to the side - watching the two of them together.
So, so, so, so happy you wrote something new.
For reals.
Author's Response: Oh, you!! Love that you can smell the snow - putting you there like that is high praise! You are - as always - far too kind, but it makes me really glad to be back in the saddle - so thanks, missy! And I promise not to keep you waiting long - 'tis almost in the can already.

Well, you know how much I love your stuff but I'll unapologetically do the fangirl squeal. So awesome to see something new from you! And of course it's full of the excellent little details you do so well. This:
By mid-afternoon, not calling her has started to feel like holding an unnatural contortion, a yoga position designed to cloud instead of clear his mind.
Pam answers on the first ring and Jim wonders if that’s a sign. A sign of what, he has no idea. He really needs to stop doing that.
Such a perfect illustration of where both of them are. And Pam, always quick to defend Roy. Sigh. Thank God these days are behind us... but I do love seeing someone revisit them with such a deft hand as yours.
It's good to see you on the Most Recent page again. :)
Author's Response: Doing the fangirl squeal right back at 'ya! I really don't know what provoked this trip down memory lane - I haven't had a fic in me in ages...then, boom! Go figure. Anyway, it's fun to be back and so glad you're here with me - thanks, callisto!

This is so great, colette. So wonderful. I'll have a better review once you post the second chapter, I'm sure.
Author's Response: Why, thank you m'am. Much appreciated!

Your use of details is always so well-balanced- enough to make the scene come alive without over-burdening us with stuff we don't care about.
Oddly, perhaps, my favorite line is this: Vestiges of the tracks from Roy’s truck are still visible, heading straight past it.
Roy is gone, has abandoned her as usual, but he's left his mark, just as he had in some way in every J/P scene in season 2. He was always a factor. I like revisiting the angsty time, don't you? I can't wait to see where you go with this.
Author's Response: Yep, Roy was indeed always a factor...or an excuse...or sometimes just a lunkhead ;-) And yeah, it's fun (is 'fun' the word?) to go back to the wellspring of S2 once in a while. Thanks for this, nqllisi!
