Okay, this is going to be tough to write, because I feel very exposed right now.

I just finished reading the entire story, all 318 pages of it. I have read a lot of good stuff on MTT, but girl7, I have to say this is the most powerfully affecting story I've read on here. Or anywhere. You have seriously reduced me to tears (much like Pam in the last 20 or so chapters :D). I mean it. Between listening to a continuous loops of the "Eyes Open" album by Snow Patrol, and reading the whole thing at one sitting, I just don't know how to convey how moving and real and sweet and angsty this story was. I feel like you have captured the very essence of what makes the story of Jim and Pam so compelling, so extraordinary. It feels real. It feels incredibly painful. It feels epic, in fact, the more so because Pam and Jim are just a couple of ordinary people, and you capture that so well, but also because you capture that spark of extraordinary connection between them. It's that incredible connection that lifts this story beyond lust or even run of the mill romance; it's what takes two people who are the essence of Everyman and elevates them to near-mythic status.

I'm babbling, which I do when I am emotionally overwhelmed. I am almost embarrassed to be putting all this down, because I feel positively flayed right now, over exposed. But as a writer who has gone through everything it takes to put it out there the way you've put it out there with this story, you deserve to know that your story has profoundly moved and touched me, girl7. (Plus, you have made me fall in love with Jonathan Halpert. Again.) I am sure it has profoundly moved and touched other readers, as well. I hope you consider a professional writing career, because in these 130,000 words (the length of a book manuscript) you have written a fine, sensitive, emotionally compelling novel. I could make suggestions to improve the pacing, length and tone, but there's no point. You don't need that. You have everything it takes already.

So excuse me if this is rambling and uncoordinated, but I just wanted you know how much this story moved me.

Once.

Author's Response:

First of all, you've almost got me in tears here - I say it all the time (and as a fellow writer, I know you understand), but thoughtful feedback is just such a gift.  And as a fan of your writing, it means that much more coming from you. Seriously, I'm so, so grateful to you for taking the time to tell me how you feel about this.

It's funny because of all the stuff I've written, this is the one that I'm really most...attached to, probably because it was such an undertaking, and certainly because it was nothing other than a kind of awe-inspired wish fulfillment; the core story that G. Daniels & friends gave us with these two just floored me.  I've never written fan fic before, but this was just something that wouldn't (and still hasn't) let me go.

I also wanted to say - without being inflammatory or dredging up a bunch of old b.s. that isn't worth the energy - that I had an experience very much like yours (or what I understand yours to have been), way back in September, I believe it was.  I was a very new writer/poster at the time, and it was a disconcertingly hurtful and worse yet, terribly discouraging experience - so yeah, I know what you mean when you reference putting it all out there and how hard it is to do that.

I'm really glad you decided to come back, because I know how difficult it can be to shake it off and keep going.

All this to say - I really appreciate the feedback, and I'm so glad that the story spoke to you.  Makes it all worth it.

So, I just read this whole this. Yeah, all of it. And can I say...

 wOOt.

This is incredibly amazing. Incredibly. You captured perfectly how they are involved in this intense emotional affair, and how that can be just as worse, if not more.

I have a lot to say, since 36 chapters is like whoa, but that would take a lot of time, and space, and mental capacity. So basically... you rock. Lots. This is fantastic, and I loved it. Thanks so much for writing it!

Well, I read the whole thing in one day.  Well, three sittings because I had to go to floor hockey in the middle.  Let's just say that it was good enough and enthralling enough to make me leave my computer on while I was away for nearly 3 hours so it would be right there when I came back, and even then I was awake until 3:11am reading it with work the next day.  I think that just about sums up what I think.

“I’m yours.” She loved saying the words. “I don’t care how far away you are – Stamford, Alaska, New Zealand – wherever.  You’re just….it.”

Le sigh. Even though this wasn't how things ended in the show- its still fits just as perfectly.  And I'll gladly suspend my belief. Download Chantal Kreviazuk's "Time"- it was what I was listening to while reading this chapter and I couldn't believe how perfectly it fit with your story.

About 2 chapters ago I realized that the reason you had Jim/Pam kiss while one was drunk was to lead up to Casino Night.  And now Pam saying that she thought they were "just drunk" in show makes sense within the context of your story as well.  I think my fanfiction and show realities are starting to blur lmao.  But maybe I should be thanking you for that...
Did you write this story, pre- or post-Casino Night?  Because if you wrote it BEFORE Casino Night the kissing throughout was ingenious.
Great chapter as always, but by now you should be fully aware of the extent of my fangirl status.

Author's Response:

In answer to your question - I actually wrote the whole thing after Casino Night but before the season premiere, so I didn't know about the "Maybe we're just drunk" connection.  And actually, I'd never thought of it before until you pointed it out - weird!

And hey, you can totally be my fangirl; I love the feedback!  :O)

Here I am again- writing before I've finished reading the story.  Just as I'm about to call it a night, I think I (subconciously) picked the perfect chapter to end the night with.  The inclusion of Jim's mother was perfect (don't worry!) and the book- I can't believe this book exists.  The lines you selected are beautiful and fit so exactly into the story.  And Jim's notation... sublime.  I know you seem to have an aversion to angst-filled chapters, but I love them.  It just seems real to me considering the place Jim/Pam are at in season 2.

I also think I've just added another book to my summer reading list ;-)

Beautiful.  I'm in the midst of reading this story and didn't want to reply until I'd gotten to the end of the entire epic (lol) but this chapter was so beautifully poignant that I couldn't resist.  I'm personally not a fan of lyrics in a story- but it was nice to see how Coldplay's lyrics influenced your mindset.  I thought this chapter (and the ones preceeding it) all fit in perfectly with the episode and seemed in fact that they were missed by the cameras.

This is great. Such dedication, making all the way through the season and then some! There are too many wonderful moments for me to pick just one. I feel all warm and fuzzy after reading this. Pam can have Jim if I can have Jonathan (I know, I know, get in line). Yay for fictional hotties!

Thanks!

As if 239 glowing reviews weren't enough, this is my favorite fanfic ever.  Really.  I have loved every single chapter so much.  My favorite is the basketball chapter, because of COURSE that was really happening on the show but we just didn't get to see it. Of course it was.

 LOVE.

I just have to applaud you again for this entire series. Seriously, it got me through the summer (now how do I get through the next week? hmm)

It still amazes me how quickly you posted new chapters while keeping them well thought-out and well written. I don't know if you'll continue this set with the new season, but I look forward to reading anything you write. :)

Yea!  They are together.  Boo!  Your story is over.

But seriously, I'm always a sucker for their emails, so I loved this last piece.  I also liked the question Pam asked Jim in her email and, of course, his response.  Because I know I would rerun the image of me sleeping with my malePam over and over again!  Did I share too much? ;-)
