OMG! This is so heartbreaking, but so great!
"She blinked several times, hoping the tears wouldn’t fall, then shaking her head when they finally did, pulling back when Jim reached a hand out to touch her cheek. Oh, the look on his face when she’d done that, when she’d shrunk away from his touch even though it was the last thing she wanted to do…." For some reason this part just really undid me. Loved the interaction with Phyllis. She's a fave. Please keep going!

I have to admit, I'm not liking this story as much as my other one, because I'm forcing myself to be more short and to the point in this one (I get the sense from the lack of response to the other one that people were turned off by the length of it), but.... I'm glad to hear that you like it! :o) I've added chapter two, will likely add a few more over the course of the day....
Summary: It hurt nearly as much as it did when June 10th rolled around, and he was in the middle of an impossibly white, empty apartment, surrounded by boxes.
