I needed to take a break right here and tell you how sweet these little moments are!  I think little vignettes look deceptively easy - most are around 1.000 words, hardly any plot to worry about - but it's difficult to do them well.  So far, I love that he calls her "pretty girl" - I cringe at most pet names, but that one seems to really work for me.  I can hear Jim saying that.  I also love him  saying "I'm going to marry you" like it's a big bit of news when it's most likely him just trying to convince himself it's really happening - love that.

I went into this thinking a story of mostly dialogue would be fairly straightforward, and figured out quickly that it was simply not the case. And also, I\'m so glad you brought up the issue of pet names. Almost everything I can think of sounds fake and unnatural, and I have to picture them saying it several times in my head before I\'ll use it. Whew! Longer response than you expected I\'m sure, but thanks again!

I'm really enjoying this story, carbondalien, and shame on me for not reviewing sooner.  I love the idea of these two communicating this way - old-fashioned letter writing.  So intimate, so romantic - regardless of what is written, but I also think you have the tone of what these letters might be down perfectly!  Chatty, friendly, newsy - but with so much more bubbling underneath.  Loving the quick updates, too, and hurray for Roy splitting town for a week!

My goodness, what a mood and a feeling this creates, SG.  I'm seeing the heat and the haze of summer and the dust on the infield so vividly.  I can almost smell the gloves.  I don't know why I almost have a pre-war (WWII that is) feeling here.  I know it's not AU, but it's such a throwback in a way to a simpler time with Jim coaching baseball at the B&G club. 

Love.  Can't wait to see what happens over chili and what goes on with Pam and Harold.

There's so much to love here and this is going to be one lousy review, but I'm at work and can't go into too much detail.  Two things that I really loved:

Pam rarely said hello when she called. It made him want to take her pretty face between his hands and kiss her.

Just perfectly Jim and perfectly wonderful.  I also loved how Pam loves all the paperwork of being married!  God, that is such a great little detail and SO TRUE!  i love the ending and the whole chapter felt like a giant embrace, your writing is so smooth and warm.  Really lovely.

You never fail to completely knock me out.  I just love all the emotions you bring to the surface here - guilt, lust, longing, regret, hope, shame - and I love the way you do it.   Wonderful.

I really love everything about this.  The descriptions are so vivid and I love the mood throughout the whole piece.  I haven't done any traveling in quite a while, but i felt transported here.  Lovely!

So excited to see something new from you and it doesn't matter what the pairing or the subject is, I know it's going to be a great, smooth ride to somewhere else.  You always tuck little bombs like "He stacked fries up Jenga-style and bit his lip" along the way that make the read so interesting and full.  Plus, we get the really interesting idea that Jim Halpert might = Jerry Maguire.  I love your flawed and very real guy Jim and you managed to make me care about Karen for a few minutes, which, at this point in our little show, is saying something.  Nice. 

Are you kidding me, Smuckers?  All those hours of watching Ghost Hunters and daydreaming about Jim Halpert have finally paid off!  This is so much fun.

Oh, love!  Of course she can be an artist in West Nowhere!  I love her saying "come get me" - awww, Pam!  Some really wise fanfic author (colette) gave me this wisdom:  it doesn't matter if a topic's been done.  You bring your own views and your own unique language to it that make it distinct.  And I like the title!

Whoa!  Nice work!  I didn't take a breath the whole time!  You did a great job building and maintaining the tension and I can see this going a number of different ways - all of them really exciting and twisted.  Looking forward to an update!
