As for the concept, it occurred to me three nights ago, and I thought I'd better write it quickly, before someone else posted a resolution story! I still have to check to see if someone did that last year, although resolutions would have been different then. (Hmm... there's a concept. Last year's resolutions...)

At the time that your prompt got posted, I was working on a story that took place in Feb. 2006, containing many of the elements that ended up in By Night. I couldn\'t find a way to anchor it, but your prompt provided the structure that I desperately needed.
