Well, this is certainly an idea I never thought of! I loved the high school story - so sweet. I am waiting to see how you explain how Jim didn't have sex with Karen :-)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! The Karen thing was definitely a challenge, but stay tuned!

You already know that I really liked this! Jim and Josie's relationship feels so real, although what is wrong with her? If only she knew what she was missing now! I didn't mention this before, but it just came to me now. I love how Pam is so eager to hear about all this. It must be somewhat difficult for her but I bet she is relishing learning all these new things about Jim. Great job :-)

I really like the changes you made! You give the sense that the Jim/Karen relationship is just completely doomed. Like, relationships require a lot of work, but not that much. Good stuff :-)

Author's Response: Eee, thanks so much!

This was just all kinds of cute! I am really enjoying this story and hope we get to see some scenes like these on the show! You are so good at dialogue and truly nailing their voices. Such a talent!

Ahhh, perfect! Honestly, you win the Dundie for most realistic Jim and Pam banter. I am in awe of how well you have their voices down. Love, love, love, love it!

More good stuff! The image of them both being up late at night wondering what the other is doing is too much! I like this Mayer song too. I thought of another one you could use - A Love Song For No One. That one is perfect for S2 Jim!

Author's Response:

Thanks! I love that image too...so, I had to work it into something....

LSFNO is a great Mayer song! And I agree, it's totally Jim. I might have to go back and find some S2 moments to work on. Thanks for the review!

Wow, these are really well done! If you choose to do a chapter about a break up or fight, you should do it to Comfortable! And it's great because the "I want you back" at the end could be when they get back together :-) Great job!

Author's Response: Ha. That's so weird that you mentioned Comfortable because I just put the lyrics down in a word document and was starting to write on it. Good timing....I was listening to the song at the same time too...creepy! Wow. SO, I'll definately be writing one over that song soon....thanks!

Summary: Jim and Pam awkwardly set out on their first date. Little do they know the night is about to get even more awkward.

Heh. Nice spin on the first date story! I like that Pam had planned her first date outfit way back when. Also, that they were so right about Michael mixing up tapas and topless! Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: Thanks! I know the Michael \"topless\" and \"tapas\" is a bit of an obvious joke, but I couldn\'t quite resist. And it\'s so Michael. I\'m glad you\'re enjoying it!

Wow, who knew Jim went to high school with Jessie Spano and Zack Morris! Good stuff, nice call back to Drug Testing. Only one more chapter, really?

Author's Response: Thanks! It took me a bit to figure out the best reference from entertainment for a drug story a la Grief Counseling, and this one seemed so perfect. I could totally see Jim and Pam watching Saved By the Bell on TBS afterschool. It\'s such a shame they didn\'t know each other then, because their running commentary would have been awesome.

This was really fun! The call back to the jinx was super cute, and I really liked Jim's speech. Hope we see some more stories from you!

Author's Response: Thanks! Like I\'ve said, it was fun writing. I worried that the last chapter was a little too sacharine, but I couldn\'t quite stop myself. Jim and Pam just took over and were way too cute! :)

That's right Jim, what are you so scared of! Ditch that rebound named Karen and come back where you belong! I literally can't wait to see what you have in mind for The Job. Can't believe this is coming to an end!

Oh, and my vote for Season Four...I really liked how you were able to use the seasons as a whole to craft the different IMs, so I'd worry that the subtle allusions and stuff might get lost if you write it in real time, so to speak. But who am I kidding, I'd read it either way. Thanks for posting again so soon. Now I can go to sleep :-)

Author's Response: No, I completely agree with you, which is why I'm reluctant to say I'll do anything during the season, so I should probably just go ahead and say look for EiE season 4 in Summer '08, it's better to keep the fans wanting more than to give them too much ;-)

Ah, the two women in Jim's life! I loved that Jim initiated the conversation with Pam but that Karen was the one initiating the conversation with Jim. Niiiiice. Post Beach Games now, I'm trying to go to bed early these days! :-)

While it's nice having them talk again, how do you explain Pam's "We're not even friends anymore" in Beach Games? I mean, sure, they're not as close as they once were, but this sounds pretty friendly to me! I'm just asking because I know you will have a well-thought out explanation :-)

I love how Jim completely avoided the subject of what else happened on the day they read "Threat Level Midnight."

Author's Response: I don't know if it's well thought out, but here's my explanation for this chapter: They may be talking again, but it is on IM and Jim is keeping the conversation strictly work related. He brings up the incident with Andy's girlfriend simply because he can't help himself and also because part of him knows Pam will respond better to it than Karen (since her sense of humor is darker and a little more cynical). Pam's response does makes him a little more comfortable and then he slips and mentions Samuel L Chang. He didn't mean to, but he brought up a day that was fun and special for both of them and to his horror Pam picks up on it right away. Like you said, he then completely avoids the topic and immediately steers back to the "safe" topic of the paper, as well as starts his exit from the conversation. You can think of this as a "slip" that make him avoid Pam and throw himself at Karen even more.

I liked it. I really like your interactions between Jim and Larissa. It seems like her meddling caused him to dedicate himself more to his relationship with Karen, which, while sad, makes sense at this point in the season. I'm excited to see how you wrap it all up!

Oh, Pam. Ouch. I got really sad reading that. There's no wonder why she goes back to Roy. I'm looking forward to see how you handle the rest of the season. Did you know there's an awkward Jim/Pam deleted scene from Cocktails?

Author's Response: there is? i\'m writing that chapter right now and having a world of trouble with it, so a description of that scene would be appreciated...any other new insight the dvds have to offer is welcolm too, don\'t worry about spoiling me. though maybe message me rather than posting for those who haven\'t gotten that far on the dvds ;-)

Ooh, the plot thickens. I liked Pam's sly mentioning of the K-sitch. She's got just enough courage to...mention it online. Always love seeing updates to this story!

Don't ever be sorry for posting more chapters to this story! I think these last two perfectly explain where these guys were at this point. And the thought of Pam IM-ming with her mom is too cute.

Author's Response: Yeah, but does it make sense that Pam's mom wouldn't have a cell, but would be all IM savy? I wonder . . .

Jim finding out on IM? Harsh. I like to think maybe someone called him to let him know, but you're probably right. I bet everyone assumed he knew so no one went to call him. And I love Kev's screenname. Very appropriate. I'm glad you explored this in IM, but I would have loved to see how Pam found out that Jim left.

Author's Response: I think he at best got an email. Pam finding out Jim left/was leaving was probably an exercise in denial where she would tell everyone including herself that she was happy Jim got a promotion.

Aww, these past two chapters are really well done, with Pam trying to make things normal and Jim kind of just going with it half-heartedly. Liked the mention of Jan, and Jim's quick brushing off of it. I'm really looking forward to reading the season three ones!

Author's Response: Season 3 will be a roller coaster for sure, but stick with it ;-)

Oh, break my heart, why don't you! Another great job of tapping into the Season 2 angst. I wonder if Roy really needed to use the computer or Pam just didn't want to hear what Jim had to honestly say. Great job as usual.

Author's Response:

Ah, well, I guess it's left up to your interpretation then . . .

Great idea! I love it already. Especially the "don't forget us when you're famous" reference. Hey, if they put a "Faces of Jim Halpert" featurette on the next Office DVDs...I'd watch it! :-) I say update however often you like, as long as you update!

The thought of them IM-ing each other on Christmas is really sweet. I will miss these daily updates but it will be great when you post a bunch at once! And thanks for linking to that interview, I had read it a long time ago but it was nice to re-read. Safe travels!

Author's Response:

I kind of miss being able to update everyday, and of course, I miss my fanfic fixes and chatting with you guys T_T I want internet now! Silly Japan, it's not nearly as advanced as you'd think it was.

Still loving this! This is such a great way to fill in the gaps. I hope that Pam actually did explain why she cut off the phone call so abruptly. And I love the foreshadowing of "evolved" Jim!

Author's Response: Yep, Pam should have known something was up when he wasn't having his ham and cheese in the break room . . .
