This is incredibly lovely.  Brings me right back there to when everything was what ifs and should-have-beens.  It's almost comforting to go back there now - knowing things work out eventually.

Looking forward to the third conversation...

Summary:

Three things I believe:  They love each other.  Dunder Mifflin would wear Jim down without Pam there.  Parenting ain't easy.  This story follows from those three premises.

I know I've said it already - but it bears repeating.  This is lovely for so many reasons - mostly because it's real.

And that in the end, they're both on their way to being better people is the lovliest of all.

Welcome back. :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much...I know it's not exactly fluff, but I did want the conclusion to show theat they were mostly okay and making progress.  You know me, I couldn't leave Pam unhappy.  Thanks tons for everything.

Summary: Past Featured Story

What if Pam refused to let Angela drop her off at home after the Dundies?

“I want to go to Jim’s,” Pam said, interrupting Angela’s thoughts.

Angela felt as though her head might pop off and land in one of her cup holders. Would the depravity of this night never end?

Oh this would definitely qualify for the best Dundies ever.  Oh S2.  How I loved you.  Can't wait to see what else you have in store.

Thanks for the review xoxoxo. I'm a huge fan of yours, of course :) I'm typing away on ch2!

LOL!  Based on the fact that I was a tad tipsy myself last night this chapter hit a bit of a chord.

As I read this morning I kept scrolling down, thinking you'd be cruel and not give us a kiss until the next chapter.  But YAY!  you did!

That was a big deal to me,” he snarls. “When you kiss me, it’s a big deal. So the next time you want to get drunk and have fun so that you can write it all off the next day, don’t come looking for me. I don’t want that.”

That line is amazing - because it works on so many levels.  It's The Dundies, Casino Night and Gay Witch Hunt all rolled into one.

Amazing.

Author's Response: Thanks xoxoxo! I was sooooo tempted to end that line with "I want more than that" but I resisted :)

Shan - you are killing me.  Once with the OMG - they are TALKING and second with the drawing.  Amazing, amazing.

Seriously...if only she'd gone after him that night - this could have happened.

Author's Response: Thanks xoxoxo! The TALK is a-comin'! Thanks so much for the review. I'm a huge fan!

Oh only if they had come to their senses sooner - how lovely it could be.  You did such an amazing job with the characterization here - your Pam is pitch perfect and your Jim is amazingly accurate.  Those descriptions don't even begin to do what you've done here justice - but it's Sunday and I'm still a bit sleepy. :)  Just know I loved it.

Author's Response: But at the same time, if they came to their senses at the Dundies, we would miss out on the awesomeness that was season 2. Hee! Thank you so much for the review. You are amazing.

Author's Response: I'm glad I could give you a smile and a small surprise. And I agree wholeheartedly :)

Firstly - I'm sorry I haven't reviewed earlier - I'm sooooo deseperately far behind with my reading.

Secondly, I love this.   It's realistic and funny and poignant and sad but in the best of ways.

Thirdly, I've spent many a summer in Mount Snow - so though I think Jim's mom's idea is perfect and wonderful - I'm a little sad they won't be staying in West Dover or shopping on Main Street in Wilmington.  :)

Can't wait to see what's next.

Author's Response: xoxoxo, no apologies necessary!  I'm so happy you're enjoying this.  I lived outside of Bennington for a bit, and I've been to all those places, too!  Loved Wilmington and Brattleboro.  After I posted this chapter, I thought oh, man...  that Vermont trip sounds really good...people are gonna think I'm crazy for having Jim take Pam to freaking Buffalo!  Thank you so much for the sweet review!

I really enjoyed this sweetpea.  You've painted a lovely story with your words and Jim and Pam - happy with themselves, each other and a little one are my undoing.

You've got all that here and more.

Thanks for sharing this little glimpse of what could be with us.

Author's Response: xoxoxo, thank you so much.  The little family really melts my heart, too, and I'm glad you enjoyed this.  Here's hoping we get to see some happy NEW moments for real and not just the ones we imagine here in the archive.  So glad you enjoyed this.

Well I (being awesome) liked all of it.  But I told you that already. :)  A thousand thank yous to you for writing it for me.   The way Pam paints in October is the way I hope I can eventually write again - just put words on paper and simply be content with what I see there.  Here's hoping.  And though I go to a place in my head where they are just instantly blissfully happy I know it wouldn't be like that in actuality. You did a wonderful job portraying that - so yay you.

PS - If you auction off Jim I'd better be the winning bid. ;)

Author's Response: Well, I imagine that will be a pretty competitive auction, and I would be set for life afterwards.  A thousand your welcomes and I hope and trust that you will find your writing groove again soon.  Thanks for the review, and for everything else.

This story is so much better than a bus full of drunk 23 year olds.

OK - that's not saying much but it's still the truth.  :)

You know that I love it - and I love that I got a sneak peek and still had a nice surprise in the Pam's dad chapter.  You had a very interesting take on him and Jim's concerns in regards to meeting him were not your typical "meet the dad" type of worries.  You really did a wonderful job with that. Aaand I have to say - your Allison Beesly sounds kinda like my mom.  LOL!  or - actually - come to think of it - me.  It's the 5000 words thing I think that bears some resemblance.

In short, this installment was an extremely good use of my taxpayer dollars.  Slack off again soon will you?

Author's Response: I've been a drunk 23 year-old before (specifically for a substantial protion of 1993) and would not like to have to deal with a busload of me's.  I'm glad you survived it and got to read this, and definitely glad that you feel you got your money's worth.

Things I really like:

Jim and Pam engaged

Jim and Pam cuddling

Ice cream

Chocolate

Happy, content, confident Pam.

The idea of Jim looking for a new job - esp. one that suits him perfectly.

This story. :)

I cringed when I read it - knowing exactly how it would end.  :(

It's all so perfectly realistic.  It's a banner week for fics with great imagery - I can feel the cold - and the little dash of heat at the end.

The cringe is a good thing btw.  Means you've done your job.

I always had a soft spot for him and wanted him to be happy - just - you know - not w/Pam. :)

Author's Response: Exactly. As long as he isn't with Pam, I'm very pleased for him to be in a happy relationship. I think he had a long way to go- longer than Pam or Jim, really- in order to be his best self. I wanted to show him in the process, but not there yet. Thanks so much!
