10 Okay, so I just discovered this story not too long ago--I usually don't like AU, but this one totally sucked me in--and I was so disappointed when it seemed like it was never going to be finished, the chapter before last. I'm so glad to see you back, and I can't wait to see where you take this!! I just love how you explore each character's feelings; how they all have depth, and you can't help feeling sorry for Jim and Pam's spouses, even though you want our beloved couple to end up together. I just keep thinking about what a mess they've made, and how their actions are going to affect so many people, now that they have families. It's so heartwrenching and real. Excellent job!

10 That was so beautiful! My heart is seriously melting. I've always liked understated proposals--I think they're a lot more genuine, intimate, and romantic than the big gestures, because they're completely simple and personal. I really think it fits them as a couple, too, since they're both very "down-home" characters. I also liked that they could talk honestly about his drunken confession, since they are and always were best friends. So yeah, I liked it all--can't wait for more!
10 Beautiful, realistic, and totally heartbreaking. My only criticism is that the ending--the tragic note on the pillow--seems kind of cliche or like a cop-out. I would've maybe liked to see it end somewhat differently, with some kind of resolution, even if it was still a sad ending. That being said, I absolutely loved how this was written! If you decided to make it a multi-chapter after all, I definitely wouldn't complain ;)

10 I really liked this chapter. I think some other "first date" fics kind of gloss over the kind of awkwardness that I'm sure these two experienced at the beginning, even though they were best friends, but I think it's a necessary component of their story. I mean, they've both been through so much with each other in terms of exes and hurt feelings, etc., plus there was the whole transition from "friend" mode to "relationship" mode--that's not something that you just smoothly fall into, even after so many years of friendship. So nicely done!

10 Excellent! One of the things I'm most excited for on the show these days is seeing how Jim's storyline will play out, how he'll grow and really "find himself"--and how they'll both grow together, too, since Pam clearly has so much potential in her as well. This was a great look into Jim's thoughts--I especially liked how, in the kitchen scene, it all just kind of came to a head in his mind. He strikes me as the type of person who just goes with the flow, but eventually suffers when all his aggravations pile up.
Anyway, yay! Good job :)

This will be a series of self-contained chapters (oneshots) exploring various "what ifs" pertaining to episodes spanning seasons one through three. Each chapter will examine how things would've gone differently if either Jim or Pam had responded to a given situation the way that (most) fans had wanted or almost expected them to.
For example, the first chapter focuses on how things would've happened differently if Jim had confessed during those twenty-seven seconds of silence on the booze cruise when we were all holding our breath and hoping he would.
Among the other chapters I have mapped out: What if all the reminders of Jim in "Gay Witch Hunt" had provoked not a small, sad smile from Pam at the end of the episode, but rather, had motivated her to take action -- drive to Stamford to see him for the first time in four months? Or what if Jim had responded to Pam's text in "Diwali" via a post-Jagermeister phone call? What if Jim had walked in on Pam crying at the end of "Back From Vacation"? (...You get the idea.)
Again, though, each chapter will be confined to an episode, so it will essentially be a series of oneshots that are unrelated to each other.

10 I have to say, though I feel like a traitor to Pam, I'm really intrigued by this story. And I do like Emily's character and Jim's interaction with her. And you know what? If Jim's actions in this relationship are indeed affected by his history with Pam, well heck, that's still pretty romantic in my eyes :) Of course, I'll always be a sucker for the Jam fluff, so I wish we'd get to see just a little more of the love that they had before it fizzled out--but I trust your judgment, so whatever. I'm really looking forward to seeing Emily watch the DVDs and talk about it with Jim. Great work!
