This was cute! I actually had the SAME thing happen to me. "Mr. Mint" was gone for 4 months though, not a week. He apparently decided to "surprise" me with a hideous beard. I was dressed up, looking my best, ready to jump him when I saw him at the airport...and here comes this...thing. He also apparently didn't consider trimming it, so it was protruding a bit too. Frizzy, reddish, ugh. Fortunately he hated it too (itchy) and was looking forward to shaving it off after he "surprised" me. I tried to be nice but...God it was ugly. What a horribly unpleasant way to dash a person's reunion fantasies.

Wow -- this was fabulous! I quite agree with the ribbon. Your smut was very well done also, which is a lovely plus! I enjoyed thinking about and picturing Japan (love to visit there some day) and what it would be like. In talking to several people who've been there, the only thing I thought was missing was the incredible expense of everything. Sushi dinners with Sake would probably not happen very often on a student's budget...but it was so well done and Pam did herself proud, didn't she?

Eww. I don't get why several writers here occasionally toy with Jim/Ryan action. I've seen it more than once! Notthatthere'sanythingwrongwiththat... Oh-kay, so, kudos for courage, yes - but sorry, I get really uncomfortable seeing characters put in situations it seems like they'd hate. Maybe b/c Ryan seems so conflicted about women (loves/hates Kelly) in general he lends himself to this. Sorry, guess I'm not very adventurous. It is well-written and thank you for listening!
Author's Response: well, first of all, thanks for writing. this my first foray into jim/ryan and i'm not sure why i wrote it... except that i'm interested in jim as a character, in whatever form he could take. truth be told, when i started to learn that maybe i wasn't straight, i had a lot of feelings, it was a very confusing time. so i subscribed some of that to jim, just for kicks, to see where it might lead. i was also writing in a certain formula/style, just to try it out. it's fine that it doesn't work for you - i hope you take a look at some other writing i've done. thanks again for the feedback!

This was GREAT! I really, really enjoyed it. Just a touch of steam and always wrapped in their deep affection for each other. The subtle touches of dialogue were so well done. Good banter, good angst (poor Karen)...kudos to you JAMhands.
