Bio:
After being raised by feral dogs deep in the heart of Appalachia for my first 17 years, I rescued a group of imperiled socioanthopologists from certain doom at the hands of some moonshiners in an undisclosed mossy holler of my homeland. Silly with gratitude, they taught me to read and eventually, to make letters with a pencil. I'm continuing that learning process by writing fan fiction here.
As you can see, I'm still having trouble with run-on sentences and cliches. Yet I've come so far.

Oh, and I love music - especially jazz.

I love your Sweetconcernedson!Jim. Looking forward to the next chapter, as always.

Author's Response:

All these exclamation point Jims in the reviews for this chapter.  This one is cute, too.

Hope to have the next chapter to you before a week.  We'll see...

Just wanted to restate how much I love it when Jim sits in Larissa's room wondering about the roomie. That rang so true.

And "BZ" was inspired.

Another great installment. Will await the next chapter...impatiently.

Author's Response: Thanks, jazzfan!  You know you'll be the first to see the next chapter!

Oh, this turned out really nicely. I especially loved your description of "Walker Man." I could really see him. And I love "Alexander's Horrible No Good Very Bad Day."

Author's Response:

Thanks, jazz!  You can thank andtheivy for the visual ... she's told me she really wanted to see Walker Man.  Look in your inbox for the next chapter soon.

I just read this in one sitting and now I can't decide if I want you to write this chapter next or the "Gifts" chapter next. LOL
Both, please.
I'm really curious as to how Karen is going to react to this whole thing, and how Jim will react to her reaction. Plus, I really like the "strong" Pam.

Hmm, I could have sworn I left a review for this last night. Maybe it didn't go through because of the weather. Anyway, you know how much I loved this chapter - one of your best ever IMO. When I started reading it I was trying to look for errors, and I got so caught up in it I just said "screw it" and read it for "realsies" the first time. I loved the physical descriptions and mannerisms as they told their stories. I really felt like I was in the room. Awesome.

Author's Response:

Yep, all the visual detail – that was andtheivy's influence.  Now we'll see how close I can come to that when I send alla y'all the FIRST draft of the next chapter. I think I'm more attuned to filling in the details now, anyway.

Thanks too for your feedback on the second draft.  It helped a lot.

Sorry it took me so long to get to the review of this. My very favorite thing about this is how you have Larissa as such a wise mother - she knows Jim and though she's protective, she also knows her own child's patterns well enough to not be blind. I like Mom Halpert. Can't wait to get the next one.

Author's Response: Thanks, jazz! I wasn't able to write as much as I hoped this weekend. I hope to have a draft by the end of the week. We'll see...

Woot! I liked what you did with this - it turned out well, and I'm totally in love with this paragraph: Laughing aloud, Jim shook his head and leaned forward, burying his grin in his palm. Jesus. She was still as indirect and ambiguous as ever but Pam was trying to tell him that she loved him. He was totally, completely, 95% positive of it.

Author's Response: Thanks, jazz!  And, as ALWAYS, thanks for your input!  The chapters always come out better after you have a whack at them!

Oh wow, just reading this for the first time. This is a great writing of Jim with Karen. There are several wonderful lines, but this one sums it up so heartbreakingly well for Jim: "He wonders if passion is just another childish idea he needs to get over."

Author's Response: Thanks, jazzfan. So much was left to our imaginations about the Jim/Karen relationship, that it's great to hear you think I got it right. And I especially like that you picked that line, cause for me, that was one of the recurring senses I got from Jim in S3.

Summary: We've always wondered what 'really' happened on Jim and Pam's date after "Money". This takes a peek at how our favorite couple spent that night.

I am really enjoying this story. You capture Pam's insecure nature very well, and I just loved this line that someone else referenced as well:

“Can you, would you mind saying that again,” he said in a sigh, leaning his forehead against hers, drawing her closer to him. “I promise this time won’t be as nerve racking for you.”

Looking forward to the next chapter...

Okay, I'm going to leave a comment I should have left before, but it's a confession of sorts. The last time I was in London, I saw did every. single. one of these things except for the farm. Does that mean I'm related to Dwight? *is skeert* Also, Sweeney Todd may well be my favorite musical ever. "Have a little priest?"

Simple: first, the Tower of London, then the London Dungeons, then the Imperial War Museum, then 221b Baker Street, then 186 Fleet Street and on Monday I am going to Cogges Manor Farm Museum in Oxfordshire and finally, on Tuesday night I have arranged for Michael and I to take the Jack the Ripper tour.

Author's Response: Hi there, jazzfan - now, would being related to Dwight be the worst thing in the world? Thanks for your \'confession of sorts\', it made me chuckle! BA

I think the temp went up about ten degrees here at my place while I was reading that description of the basketball game. Shew Lawdy! Also, being a jazzfan, I keep hearing the lyrics to A Foggy Day when I read this story. It's wonderful. Please continue.

Author's Response: Howdy, jazzfan ! Thanks for the lovely review; so glad you liked the chapter and that the basketball game flashback worked for ya! Ordinarily, jazz doesn’t float my boat, but I think I’ll check out that song you mentioned. Hope you like the next chapter...it’s mainly told from Jim’s pov. If I can do half as well with Jim’s voice as you’ve managed in Someone to Watch Over Me , I’ll be one happy camper.

Grrr. I just did this once and the internet ate it. Trying again. I so love what this story chooses to be, BA. There are so many cool little bits, but I think my favorite in this chapter is how Pam's afraid she won't convey the depth of her feeling in the "normal" kisses. That strikes me as something she might worry about at this point. You've done a great job pacing this, too. I can't wait to read the next chapter and I hope somebody tosses Simon out on his ear - Jim or Pam either one would work for me. Brava, and please write fast. *grin*

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing, jazzfan! Sometimes the internet hates me too :( I also liked the idea of Pam not trusting that her kisses would adequately convey her feelings and so am tickled pink that you thought this was in character. I\'m working on the next part...can\'t promise that it\'ll be done quick time though. Sorry! BA

Holy crap, this is awesome. You've really got Pam's voice (at least as I imagined it). I loved every single word, but this took my breath away:

He leans against the doorframe, his arms folded casually across his chest. The towel around his waist hangs low, so I can see a thin strip of paler skin that hasn’t seen the sun in years. Now that I’m looking, it’s like I can’t stop.

He just watches me with a small smile on his face. I try to look away, try to act interested in something else, but it’s nearly impossible. His hair is damp and messy and I want to plunge my fingers into it. I know all it will take is a tug on that towel and he could be hard and hot against me, smelling gloriously clean, doing things to me that aren’t.

But he stays where he is. Almost like a dare. Or an invitation

Okay, I'm hooked. Please keep writing. It's disturbing, and a little hard to follow sometimes, but I can't wait to read the next chapter.

Author's Response: :D Thank you. New chapter coming soon.

Summary:

This will be a series of self-contained chapters (oneshots) exploring various "what ifs" pertaining to episodes spanning seasons one through three. Each chapter will examine how things would've gone differently if either Jim or Pam had responded to a given situation the way that (most) fans had wanted or almost expected them to.

For example, the first chapter focuses on how things would've happened differently if Jim had confessed during those twenty-seven seconds of silence on the booze cruise when we were all holding our breath and hoping he would.

Among the other chapters I have mapped out: What if all the reminders of Jim in "Gay Witch Hunt" had provoked not a small, sad smile from Pam at the end of the episode, but rather, had motivated her to take action -- drive to Stamford to see him for the first time in four months? Or what if Jim had responded to Pam's text in "Diwali" via a post-Jagermeister phone call? What if Jim had walked in on Pam crying at the end of "Back From Vacation"? (...You get the idea.)

Again, though, each chapter will be confined to an episode, so it will essentially be a series of oneshots that are unrelated to each other.
