I love this last one.

Author's Response: Just gonna respond to this last one so you don't get 9 emails! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing, I'm glad you liked it! I thought about having Holly sign her name on the Colorado one, but I envisioned it being written and mailed from the airport (is that even a thing? In my head, it is, lol) so it was done before he even found Holly at baggage claim!

Summary: Because we didn't get a Christmas episode in S4, here's a bit of fluff about the dates leading up to it and Pam and Jim's gifts for each other.

I really enjoyed this even more than I expected to. Thank you for sharing the idea!

Summary: "About five weeks after Jim started at Dunder Mifflin, he and Dwight went 15 hours and 42 minutes of work time without fighting. We haven’t come within a full workday of that record since… until now."

(A cold open circa S4. #1 in the Rejected Cold Opens series.)

I loved this. Loved it. Especially the minor thing they argued about. Perfect.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Yeah, I really wanted to get some classic Jim-Pam low stakes bickering in here...

Summary:

'The main source of her distress laid on the table, almost shining under the lights. Pam knew it would be hard to break with it but had no idea how much.'

Set during and after 'Benihana Christmas.'

I really like this. Are you planning any followup (like, does Jim figure out what's in the pillowcase)? Not that you need followup (this is lovely) but I thought I'd ask. I like stories where Pam gets the thoughts out, and where Jim comes after her, and I loved both elements here.

Author's Response:

Thank you, Comfect! I was worried that this story had almost the same concept as my previous finished story, and I'm really glad you liked it! I think there wouldn't be any follow-ups (it was just detailed retelling of a dream after all), but I think Jim wouldn't know what was under the pillow; Pam would try to say Jim goodbye and return all of her mementos to their place :)

Summary: Pam wanted to help out Jim, to get closer to what once had been. Only things never seemed to go her way, and maybe help could come from other places.

Well I'm here for this! No idea what you'll do with their friendship or Jim or any of it but it's a great twist on a standard (what if X found Pam crying instead of Dwight) that I somehow haven't seen before. Excited to see you do it!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for reviewing!

This was very inspired by the podcast and by rewatching season 3 and realising that, yeah, as much as I love him, Jim is a bit of an idiot here.

Yay! Title drop! I'm a sucker for using a title in a story...

Anyway, I really like this version of Karen. I like Pam too, but it's easy on this site to write good Pam stuff. It's much rarer to see good Karen stuff. Thanks for it.

Summary: Past Featured StoryTake a little stroll through Season 3 with me, will you? See what’s going on in Jim and Pam’s heads as they try to find their way back to each other.

Start at Casino Night, take a left at The Merger, and end up somewhere before Fun Run. Most chapters will follow actual episodes from Season 3.

Welcome back! Casino Night, always a font of angst, but I like what you've done. I'm a big fan of using Pam's POV on Roy immediately after CN for stories, and I like how you're positioning her here.

Author's Response: Thank you! I have always wondered what Pam did and felt right after CN and how she saw maybe saw Roy differently after.

Aww Jim. I liked how you took the same sports detail here but used it differently. Good work.

I'm glad you went Pam pov here. It really worked for pulling us into her side of the emotions. And it gave us Jim being a dick without his self justification.

I like that last moment with her mom. Not that I don't like the rest; just that was very good.

That was a bit of a jump: when did he hear about Pam? I feel like knowing how long that took might be important. But this does do a good job of introducing Karen here.

Author's Response: I think I just knew I had plenty of sad coming, so I rushed it. You’re totally right, and I think I could have fleshed out his feelings while he was in Stamford a little better.

I like this version of the conversation. It always bugs me that he doesn't explicitly tell her personally, and this helps.

Well my fave part was cardboard Dwight but the voicemail was a closer second than I expected. Lovely ending, thanks so much for sharing this story!

Author's Response: Cardboard Dwight is one of my prouder moments in life. I’m so glad you liked it! Thanks for reading and all your reviews! :)

Oh, I love this prompt (not that I've ever written for it myself) so I'm so glad you took it up! I'm excited to see where you go with it!

Oh, a Larissa appearance? Awesome. One of my favorite characters to play with. Really liked your take on her. And now the Karen card is out in the open ... Enjoying this a lot, keep it up!

Author's Response: Thank you! I’ve never written her into a story and it was really fun to explore her instant friendship with Pam as well as her relationship with Jim. I really want her to make another cameo somewhere in the story. ;)

What do I think? I think Jim is being more of a jerk than usual if he's still dating Karen and being besties with Pam without telling Karen. Like, I guess, more of a jerk to Karen and less to Pam than usual? Also I respect the heck out of this version of Pam. Nice work, and yes I am very eager to see your cliffhanger resolve.

Author's Response: I did make him kind of a jerk, huh? It was just hard to imagine that he wouldn’t get sucked right back into his friendship with Pam if she was only down the hall all the time. And I added a little “girl power Pam” because I’ve kind always felt bad for both Pam AND Karen in season 3.

It's impressive that you've managed to get two cliffhangers out of one revelation to one person. Nice work!

That last line is killer. I mean, it's a cute update and I liked it, but it's not THAT unexpected (not that it should be), but I did not expect the last line so it really made me laugh.

Again, that's an excellent last line. I was kind of hoping Margaret was like "actually, I know who you are" but I do think your version is better. Thanks for sharing, this is a really fun story!

What if Jim chickened out Jim-style at Casino night?

Dialogue is clear but it does seem like they're having a telepathic conversation since italics usually mean thoughts. But it's easy enough to follow once you figure it out.

You've done well here with the setup, I'm intrigued with how your AU goes from here!

Summary: It’s a clear signal they’ve become real friends, not just two people leaning on each other to get through an endless workday.

A few months after Jim is hired at Dunder Mifflin, he invites Pam to his birthday barbecue. A (mostly) Pam POV on a milestone in the early days of Jam.

Ah, yeah, that's good stuff. Very nice combination of self-justification that COULD be accurate but isn't alongside just enough clarity about Jim's POV on this that makes it clear we are in canon angst for him already.

And I love Larissa the theoretical physics major as a threat for Roy.

Author's Response: Thank you! Making sure I reflected that differing perspective between the Pam that's just so thrilled she's connected with someone that she can't even stand it AND THAT'S THE ONLY THING THAT'S GOING ON and the Jim whose heart is cracking just a little more every day was a big part of why I wanted to write this. It's actually hard to imagine two characters in The Office who have less interest in dealing with each other than Roy and STEM Genius Larissa.
