Author of the Month March 2020

I've been writing fanfiction for awhile now. Just recently discovered The Office and figured I'd try my hand at that as well.

At first I thought of having all my stories in the same universe, but then I had some AU ideas. So any stories that occur within a common universe will be in a given series.

Everything's still very raw here. I like how you have Michael in this chapter. Every so often he would lose his whole man-boy bluster and actually be a good guy. That he did the same here for Erin was wonderful to envision. I'm sure Jo is in for a whole world of hurt once all those details get out. It'll be interesting to see what she has to say for herself in that regard.

Great scene with Jim and Pam. Just the right amount of tough and tender love on Pam's part. I love that she's the one to get through to him to tell him to not bottle it all up. She may not be feeling like Jim's rock right now, but she's acting like it. Well done.

I think you did a really good job of explaining Jim's state here. It would be foolish to think that even after two months he'd be back to "normal." However there is progress being made. It's not overnight, but it's steady progress nonetheless.

I was starting to wonder if this story had been abandoned. Nice to see an update.

Author's Response: I had pretty much every hurdle possible placed in front of me during the last three months in terms of my academic career and so this work got put on the back burner. I mainly worked on it for "fun" when I needed a break. I'm glad I did it this way because it gave me more time to perfect my narrative. Thanks for sticking around <3

Feels like a good set up chapter to how things will turn out later. Great to see Pam still by his side. I know they've both been through the wringer, but they're still there with each other. Great to see. I loved Cece snoozing with Jim. That seemed to be such a calming and healing little scene. Very tangible proof that Jim's gotten back to where he belongs and that he has a reason to keep on going. Glad to see an update.

I thought this one was dead to be honest. I get that life shows up and it gets hard to write though. Nice to see things progressing. Jim looks like he's getting stronger. Mentally and physically. Good on you for keeping up that progress. Hope to see more of Jim's progress with that soon.

Very dramatic court scene to be sure. Well done on Jim for holding Gabe's feet to the fire. Also lovely to see the support system that's in place for them all there. Nice to bring back David and have his support too.

I don't blame Jim for not wanting to return to DM. After something like that, makes sense.

Very impactful statements from everyone. Basically what I would have expected from all the victims. To have a statement from Gabe's mother was a bit unexpected. However you did write her plea for mercy on behalf of her son well.

Personally if I were on the jury I would vote to convict. Far to many people today try to explain away their actions as "I'm not evil I'm sick." The way you've written this story, no Gabe knew what he was doing and enjoyed parts of it too. At the very least lock him up and throw away the key. Justice though would be the death penalty.

Thanks for the update.

Good way to wrap this all up. It's been more than a trial to see Jim go through everything he did with this story. At times I thought it was going to linger in unfinished story limbo. Glad you pushed through and finishised it.

Nice to see that time and distance have done a world of good for Jim. That momenet at the start notwithstanding, he seems to be in a much better place. However the real progress is of course after he hears Erin's news.

"I feel like I can breathe again." Yeah, bit weight off his shoulders there. The scars may remain, but the pain that caused them is over.

Summary:

Jim and Pam, Hallmark(tm) movie style. Set in the S2 Christmas break (after the Christmas party, before the Booze Cruise). Canon-compliant until then, though with my own interpretation of how that break went, but it's a Hallmark Christmas movie so we all know how it's going to end.

For the 2018 Secret Santa fiction exchange.

The night is always darkest just before the dawn. Though the fact that you have Pam thinking about all these things is good. Get all the confusing angsty emotions out of the way before the sun rises.

Author's Response: Introspective chapters are my favorites to write, so I'm glad this landed effectively for you.

D'awwww. What a very cute way to wrap this up. Fun references back to the show, a prank on Dwight, the teapot note, and of course Jim and Pam together. Wonderful story, thank you for sharing it.

Author's Response: Thank you for the consistent feedback! I loved writing this, and I hope whomever sent in this fic recipe enjoys or enjoyed it too (should be pretty easy to identify given some of the elements I was asked to include).

Aww very sweet here. Jim is adorable being embarrassed/socked like this. I also like how you put in elements of backstory. Jim has obviously talked a great deal about Pam to Tina and it's fun to imagine what he might have said.

Author's Response: Tina's origins come from a couple of fics on this site (like the Albany is like Paris one) plus how my own family treats old family friends, so I'm glad she worked for you.

There you go Pam. Start making time for your own happiness. I really like that the first things here that Pam went for were things solely for her. That she's realized she needs to be happy by herself first before trying to be happy with anyone else.

Meeting Jim at the Y though was very cute. Glad they're back to their fun bantering ways.

Author's Response: Yeah, I had fun figuring out what she'd want for herself, not just for JAM. And thanks!

Very intense chapter here. I do like how Pam finally told off Roy like this. Good for her. I also like how you described Pam's painting. Very vivid considering all the stress she's been under. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks! I wish we'd seen more of Pam's art in the series, so I try to incorporate it where I can.

Interesting take on why Jim and Pam might get mad at each other here. Very realistic too. You've got everyone in character nicely too.

Author's Response: Thanks! This was the chapter I was most concerned about because I was bringing in multiple other characters and worried about the in-character nature of the interaction, so I appreciate hearing this.

Very cute here. I love how you've got Jim so easily making Pam happy. Onto the next.

Author's Response: Appreciate the feedback! The S2 Jim/Pam dynamic is probably my favorite in the whole series.

Very good introspective chapter here. I liked seeing Pam's thought's leading up to Christmas. Roy is a fool as usual. I also like the quick reference to the teapot.

Author's Response: Thanks! This is how I usually see Roy: an idiot, but not actively malicious. Just dumb.

Awww Pam, to be stuck cleaning up after everyone, being sad about being alone, then Roy calling to further remind her of that and not even letting her get a word in edgewise. Great writing though to convey all those emotions.

Author's Response: Thank you! I value your opinion on my writing of emotions because your own is so good.

You absolute tease! All the build up and that where we leave this? Ah well, makes things interesting. Very heartfelt conversations here. Looking forward to whenever this gets updated.

Author's Response:

Hahaha! It felt like a really good place to leave things for the moment, what can I say?

I’m glad you’re enjoying so far! Just think, they’ve each still got like, 3 questions to ask the other, too.

Reviewing this chapter again mainly to give you a heads up. It's probably going to be a pattern for me after reading updates of "Stilettos and Broken Bottles." Not that that story is bad in any way, it's just for my JAM loving heart, I like coming back to something like this. Just to let you know.

Excellently written as always. Very steamy, but in a way that shows just how right these two are for each other. Good on Jim for ending things right away with Karen once he realized everything he'd felt and done.

I loved the turtledoves here. Great shout out to a great Christmas movie. One of my favorites too, but sadly like Jim I haven't seen it in a couple decades. Though considering how much I DID used to watch it, I could probably quote every line as I watched it. Good times. Well done on finishing this one up. Glad both Pam and Jim got what they really wanted for Christmas.

Author's Response:

Thank you! As you may have figured out, HA2 is my favorite Christmas movie - no apologies or regrets for that at all ;)

Thanks for reading and taking the time to review- you know I always appreciate it!

Nice to see them getting all that out in the open like this. Very well written as always. Lots of good internal thoughts. It's very believable that both Pam and Jim would have behaved like they did post Casino night the way you've described here. However the fact that they're re-connecting like this is very good to see too.

Author's Response: Thank you! They’re definitely reconnecting here, aren’t they? ;)

Great way to get Jim stranded at Pam's place. Sitting by the fire, watching a movie, more relaxed than ever, pretty girl on the couch next to him, do you need a bigger sign Jim?

But now they power's out so I'm sure stuff will get really interesting.

Author's Response: He’s a good guy, but a little slow, that Jim. ;)

Lots of stuff going on with this intro section. I like how Jim is still looking out for Pam even if Karen doesn't want him to. Onto the next chapter.

Such a sweet way to bring thing around full circle. I love the new teapot idea and the new bonus gifts. Very well written. Thank you for sharing this one.
